Dulux Ceiling White

I purchased this product to freshen up my less than 7 year old ceilings as I was updating the wall colour. The finish, streaking is awful. I didn't want to keep going but it was too late. I wish I read these reviews first.

Dulux - while admirable you are trying to save the planet - 1 paint can at a time, it's deplorable that people are forking out hundreds of dollars on this product without understanding your revised / low VOC formula is not quite as easy to apply as your old(er) ceiling paints and if not applied properly will result in ( from your website ) - uneven sheen, glossy peaks & flat troughs, patchiness, lapping or just an uneven “dry looking” appearance.

Applied 2 generous coats of Dulux Ceiling White and was very disappointed with the finish. I have it a third coat and still it was patchy! Showing up flaws that I did not see previously! I chose Dulux thinking it was the BEST paint and premium quality to buy! Unfortunately I was wrong and wish I had read these reviews before wasting my money and an entire week of my time! Ii put a lot of a lot of effort into the prep work before painting and used an expensive roller! I don’t have the time or mental health to go through this and dulux really need to lift their game!

After 3 generous coats and 12 litres ( 4 litres x 3 ) of Dulux Ceiling white (Flat Finish with Hiding power - Mould shield) on a 60m2 living room ceiling, I have given up. Not too sure what the "hiding power" of the paint is supposed to hide? A better finished ceiling maybe?

The paint job looks patchy and crap (see images). I was very disappointed with the outcome, not to mention injury to my elbows and back.!

We now have to pay a professional painter to come in and correct the damage to our ceiling that Dulux ceiling white has done.

I used Wattyl solagard (exterior) and Wattyl ID (interior) and have not had a problem in over 10 yrs.

Applied 2 generous coats of Dulux Ceiling White and was very disappointed with the finish. It dries patchy and 'yellowy' in many areas and shows up flaws that were not visible on the original paintwork. I put a lot of effort into the prep work before painting and thought I was using a premium quality paint, it's not cheap! I now have to paint the ceiling for the third time as I can't leave it as it is. I'll be using another brand for sure to rectify. A complete waste of my time, effort and hard-earned money.

Every review read here accurately describes situation we are experiencing … coverage is poor leaving a patchy and streaky appearance in different light conditions no matter how many coats are applied.

Purchased 15L Dulux Ceiling White from Dulux trade shop to paint internal ceilings (hall, dining room, kitchen, living room). Patchy, yellow finish which was worse than 30 year old paint already there. See attached photos - this ceiling was just slightly off white before starting and this happened after an even layer of Dulux ceiling paint was applied!!!!!!! How can yellow patches appear which were not there before??? Second coat no better. Even areas where Dulux one-step prep primer (water based) was used first were no better.

I have painted many ceiling in my life. I thought I purchased quality product but worse paint ever. So very patchy doesn't give good coverage at all. Never buy it again.

This is the worst ceiling white I have ever used. The finish is patchy and doesn't cover at all well - flashes! I ended up doing 3 coats because I thought we were doing something wrong. I used a quality nap roller etc. and followed the instructions. I use Dulux wall paint and love the finish. I have spoken to a painter who advises me that this product has caused many issues. I have wasted $103 and would not use it ever again! I regret buying it and wasted many hours painting when I should have read these reviews and bought a better paint!

Celing just sucks up the paint, cant see where you painted, very hard to work with. Whish I read the reviews before I bought and trust this well known brand. I miss Plascon one coat :(

After 4 attempts, still had very bad lap marks.

Changed to slower drying dulux professional product with more voc, cooler and more humid early morning, increased to 15mm nap, minimum rolling, 100ml floetrol, very careful laying off in one direction only, cut in the day before, worked fast with 2 painters. Thicker coat with good wet edge maintained - ok result at last.

Wish I had read these reviews before I purchased this paint. Patches and lines everywhere, even after 2-3 coats. It was the most expensive ceiling paint at Bunnings too. The issue is not just the money spent, but the time wasted painting something that will have to be painted over again.

Purchased from Bunnings Shepparton 1/1/21. Painted under veranda on 3/1/21.
It’s drips really bad.
It didn’t cover like it used to.
You can’t see easily where you are up to.
Taking cost out has left me, the customer, with junk paint. Wow, didn’t expect this from Dulux.
I’m going back to Bunnings today to buy the oppositions paint to get the job right.

I'm having the exact same issues as other reviews here. This paint is a nightmare to work with. It feels half dry when you apply it and it doesn't spread very easily. I ended up applying 3 coats because I thought I was doing something wrong. The ceiling ended up with uneven streaks and 'flashing' when the light hits at an angle. Very relieved to find out it's not just me.

I came here looking to see if anyone else is having the same issues as i have just had with Dulux Ceiling Paint (the more expensive '1 coat' Kitchen and Bathroom product)... First time user of this product, long time renovator... This paint dries super fast on itself, and leaves shiny patches on brushed areas (eg Scotia), and an inconsistent finish on rolled areas, no matter how fast you work. After 2 coats, I've now swapped back to another brand for my 3rd coat with far superior results. Won't be using or recommending this product again. Would give it a zero if it was possible.
