Dulux Weathershield
Low Sheen Acrylic, Gloss Acrylic, Semi Gloss Acrylic, Matt Acrylic (See All)Used a weathershield maxi flex, colorbond colour basalt on large wall and small one on axon Masonite it looks great as we could match colorbond fascia. We painted early in morning in shade. The paint does get a bit sticky as day heats up so painted in coolest part of day. It's a thick paint but doesn't drip on the roller. Dries quick so needed to fix mistakes as we made them. Hoping it doesn't fade as other reviews have mentioned. Specs say lasts 8 years so fingers crossed. Overall it was a good paint.

I used this paint over several years on timber rails and features around the house. It was applied by both professional painters and myself. The house is in a coastal location and subject to wind and salt and direct sunshine. Weathershield lasts a couple of years at best before flaking off and going powdery on the surface. I cringe whenever I see the Dulux advert for painting a surf club! Changed over to using Wattyl Solarguard on the same timber features as well as the rendered walls and it's performance in maintaining a good surface seal on timber and render has been excellent. It is a pity that Solarguard is being sold at fewer outlets.

I’ve just painted the exterior of my house using a combo of low sheen Weathershield and semi gloss Weathershield. I’ve used 30 litres of low sheen and 4 litres of semi gloss. One colour is white and the other is a mid grey. The surfaces were a mix of pre painted and some new weatherboards.
I’m thinking that it’s true that painting is all about preparation. We went to a lot of trouble to clean, fill and sand then fill again so the surfaces were in as good a condition as they were going to be.
The semi gloss went onto the trim and around the wi...
Read morendow frames. I undercoated the new timber with an oil undercoat and finished with two coats of Weathershield. I found that coverage was pretty good but definitely needed the two coats. After the second coat the timber looked fantastic and I’m very happy with the results. Application was with a brush. The paint itself performed really well and went on smoothly. It can dry quite quickly but was no big deal provided I kept a good wet edge. The main job was the weatherboards and the low sheen Weathershield. Apart from the cutting in, application was with a roller. Again, the paint went on smoothly and colour cover was excellent. It also really needed the two coats but the end result was very pleasing. The self priming paint went perfectly over the new weatherboards and after the second coat, you couldn’t tell what was new and what was pre painted wall. I painted in cool weather (15 - 20 degrees Celsius) and in full sun. I had no issues with the paint whatsoever and wouldn’t hesitate to use it again. I note the number of negative reviews about the product and don’t really understand them given my experience with this product. I could speculate why people would have trouble but if best keep that to myself. All I can say for sure is that my experience this time around was totally positive and provided prep is done correctly, I reckon that Dulux Weathershield is an excellent product that is well up to the task of protecting my house in the Aussie extreme conditions.

Excellent finish, great assistance from trade representative liaising with contractor Wilko. Job completed on time. The second time we have used this Dulux product in the last 12 years on a site near Noosa river with the usual harsh weather conditions, southerly winds etc
