Great upgrade from existing model
V15 Detect AbsoluteWe had a Dyson v7 Animal for years before this and it had finally given up the ghost. I was very impressed with that model so decided to buy the v15 when it was on sale. Much better system for emptying that the previous model. Also the green light for detecting dust where i normally couldn't see was a novelty, but comes in handy sometimes.
Whilst it was much more costly, which was nearly the reason we didn't buy the v15 we have found it to be a suitable upgrade.

V15 Detect CompleteI bought the Dyson V15 after last year's Christmas for myself. This one was my treat with a massive bonus. My kids do the vacuuming now without asking. They even offer to take it off me when I am about to do it. The laser makes it fun to vacuum as it shows every little dust particle and gives the feeling of deep clean. Changing floor surfaces from tiles to hard floor, from carpet to shag rugs and cat beds, the vacuum adapts without problems. And changing the cleaning heads is so simple. The Dyson is very easy to handle and not heavy at all as I thought it would be. Emptying the dustbin is a few second job. Even cleaning the cleaner is very simple. The filter can be completely taken apart and be rinsed. The same easy cleaning process can be done on the brushes and the dustbin itself. I purchased a vacuum cleaner stand to store and charge the vacuum cleaner which has the vacuum now being part of the furniture and it looks great. Our whole family is using the Dyson on an almost daily base for floors as well as hard to reach areas with ease and enjoyment. I recommend this vacuum cleaner to anybody who has little time to clean and is not a fan of cleaning, because it makes cleaning easy and effortless, satisfying and fun.
Not as good as the older models
V15 DetectI brought the new Dyson V15 vacuum cleaner with high hopes it would be as good as the previous model. I was very disappointed as it doesn’t pick up small items as good as it should also the suction is very poor. Would I recommend this product no, would I buy another Dyson vacuum no I wouldn’t

V15 Detect Total CleanIm a family of 4 adults and have a two story home all wooden floor and this fabulous to clean and still have over 3/4 battery life to use on the eco button. Highly recommend to families.It is a light weight vacuum cleaner which i find easy to carry upstairs and lift without being heavy like other vacuum cleaners Ive had in past.

V15 Detect Absolute ExtraWow!! I wish I upgraded to the V15 Detect sooner I had my previous V8 for around 6 years, and it’s amazing to se jus throw far Dyson have come in that time their many feature upgrades. It actually makes cleaning enjoyable!!

BUT remember to watch for when it needs emptying - we have a very large house with 7 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, etc. Is easy to empty when you notice it needs emptying. It would be great if there was a bell or sound to remind you to empty it before it has run out of energy. Stays fully charged for long enough for me to do our huge house, as we have wooden floors throughout but good on mats as well and carpets.

V15 Detect Total CleanThe new Dyson is both incredible and eye opening at the same. The suction has literally "sucked" new life into our carpets and rugs too the point we have contemplated just how far its cleaning powers can go. Cleaning has never been more fun. Seeing the dirt on the floor in a new way has made vacuuming more or a game then a chore - Seeing the dust disappear is both cleansing and satisfying to the point that you start to relax and enjoy the experience. Yes the product is priced on the high side but the saying you pay for what you get has never been more true. If you have the money and in need of a new vacuum, look no further.

Effective vacuuming for small to medium areas
V15 Detect CompleteThe Dyson V15 is a very effective vacuum cleaner for small to medium areas. Boost is a very efficient and effective mode however the battery life is only for about 10-11 minutes. Very efficient extraction of dust, dirt, fur on hard floors and carpet. Ensure you purchase a spare filter to ensure you can vacuum whilst your original filter is drying. Easy to empty.

I've had 2 dysons(one was a recall) in 20 years, so worth the money. BUT I've done my back in need to know if anyone has this v15 and a double coat dog husky or malamute. How does the vac go on carpet with them. My other vac is going well and reluctant to spend $1500.

Hi. We have a fleece coated Groodle that sheds, and I'm loving the V15's efficiency in picking up the dog hair. It does a much better job that the Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal and the earlier stick vacuums in their range. It IS heavier than my old stick Dyson, but I can vacuum with ease.

can you stop the brush head from spinning when vacuuming?
Hello. I've always been disappointed in how quickly my stick vac loses power. They're always advertising 60min fade-free power etc but when I looked at the Choice website they tell a different (and more accurate story). Whilst the top recommendations are Dyson, when you look at them they give a true representation of just how long you get. The best is the Dyson V15 Detect total clean and the actual running time is 12 mins - Measured with brush head on and full power. Has anyone else had this issue? I'm reluctant to go through this again.
I'm not sure whether you have the 'max' setting button on - that will make the machine lose power faster and the battery life itself decreases too if it's always on.
on and off depending on what I'm doing but I need more than 5 mins. I can't even vac my small car in one go. I'm going to call them tomorrow
I have an older one that has the max button - the V8 or 10 I think - and it still lasts 20 mins off a full charge and its 5ish years old. 5 mins sounds very short and I'd take it back if you're still under warranty. Otherwise you can get repair shops to replace the battery, my mum has done this a few times

Features
Laser technology
An in-built green laser is precisely angled at 1.5 degrees, so that it reveals hidden dust on a floor’s surface, down to 10 microns. This helps you cater your vacuuming to specific spots on the floor that need attention.
Adjusting the level of suction
An acoustic piezo sensor is able to detect the size of particles being sucked up by the vacuum. It does this by ‘listening’ to the vibrations of the particles.
The vacuum automatically adjusts the suction power according to what the sensor hears is entering the vacuum. It increases suction when higher concentrations of dust are detected, and lowers it when the dust particles are smaller, or a lower level of dust is present.
The size and number of dust and debris particles are displayed on an LCD screen near the handle, using a coloured graph.
Anti-tangle technology
Hair often gets stuck in a Dyson vacuum’s brush bar. In response, Dyson has designed a hair screw tool that directs hair to spiral around the brush - then off it, and up into the vacuum bin.
Dyson states that this hair screw tool works with long hair and pet hair, which can save you time spent removing hair strands that have become firmly wound around the brush bar.
Easy cleaning
The filter and Dysons’s Fluffy brush bar can be washed in water to help easily maintain your new vacuum.
What are the options?
The Dyson V15 Detect is available in two models.
- The V15 Detect Total Clean ($1, 399) is built with a 5-stage filtration system that captures 99.99% of dust particles down to 0.3 microns.
- The V15 Detect Absolute Extra ($1, 449) features whole-machine HEPA filtration, which traps particles as small as 0.1 microns. This is similar to the air quality standard that many air purifiers use. It means dust is highly unlikely to be released back into a home’s atmosphere. This more expensive model also comes with a wall-mounted charging dock.
While technically not part of the same product line, the Dyson V12 Detect Slim uses all the same tech as the V15 Detect, but is smaller and more compact in design.
