Hi we currently have an Electrolux ergospace deluxe which is at the end of its life. We are looking at the Electrolux Ultra Silcener Origin. Does it use the same vacuum bags as the ergospace?

Why you are not given an answer straight?

Hi we recently purchased the Ultrasilencer at the Queenstown Home Show. Great suction but even on just "medium" it is extremely hard to push around. Three of us have had a turn over last few weeks and have come to the conclusion that all may not be quite right. Also rolls any pet hair etc into long rats-tails and leaves them on the floor and doesn't suck these up very well as the foot keeps rolling them around. Any suggestions or does this not sound as though it is operating correctly?

Hi Christine
We bought a special head to cope with pet hair (we have cats) and while this does help with the pick up of hair, it is not 100% reliable - needs several goes before it picks up sometimes. The fullness of the bag can also be a factor. As for being hard to push around - I'd say take it back and get it looked at. My impression is that Electrolux is not what it used to be: they are using cheap parts and manufacture is in countries where there is a low standard of quality control.
Good luck!

Try these ideas to make the vacuum cleaner easier to push around (If yours is a different model to mine, these details may not make sense but might lead you to finding a solution): 1. open the hole on the front of the handle. 2. Turn the vacuum's suction down. When the bag is new and near empty, the suction is really strong. 3. Instead of pushing the head away from you, pull it towards you. I don't have pets but I had that problem with my own hair with my previous Electrolux which didn't have as much suction as my newer one. Despite that, I wish I could have the older one back. Its good tools made for a much better and more thorough clean than can be achieved with the newer one. The wheels on the newer one are also too small which means it can't even run over its own power cord, and bottoms out on plush carpet. Like me, you may have to persevere until you can justify buying another brand.

Yes, I have a similar issue with hair (both the pet and the human variety), bits of grass etc. getting stuck together and forming big clumps, except in my case they don't usually stay on the floor - they get stuck in the front bit of the vacuum cleaner and I have to dig them out as they will eventually cause a total loss of suction. No advice, sorry - just wanted to let you know that you are not alone with this problem. I agree with BM - Electrolux doesn't seem as good as it used to be.
