Great Machine
I spent a long time waiting for a second hand machine to come up locally as i wasn't prepared to pay over $2k. So one popped up for $750 locally, 2007 build. I have now owned the machine for approx 6yrs. Can't fault it although making a good coffee takes a good grinder and practice. Build quality is excellent and it also looks the part. In my 6yrs has cost me $450 which was for a circuit board and a service(1yr ago). There are prettier machines out there with dual boilers and led displays and rotary pumps but this machine would still achieve the same result. I recommend this machine to anyone who asks.
Purchased in February 2021 at 2nd hand purchase for A$750.00.

Not a happy camper
Great looking machine Trendy.
Makes a pretty good coffee.
Troubles are non stop with this machine boiles steam comes out of the top of the machine the relief valve keeps popping & sounding horribly dangerous so the machine gets switched of.
It has had 2 new relief valves & pressure gauge put in it & the machine 1 year old.
Expobar or someone needs to fix the problem as it is on going you can not leave this machine some days as it gets pretty out of control.
You want feed back, now i think you need to contact me & fix the machine once & for all. ...Read more

Good
My coffee machine is the Expobar Office Control but that model isn't listed here. The only difference is my unit has buttons with preset amounts of water. Everything else is still manual.
It's a Toyota Landcruiser of coffee machines: The hardware / guts are the real deal. Pure copper boiler that's capable of producing continuous hot water and steam simultaneously. This is a coffee machine that you'd get repaired, not one you'd replace or throw away.
My issues with it have been about flavour. I didn't often clean it for the first year or s...Read more
o, and I used tap water. Over time it came out with some odd flavours, like pumpkin-ish flavour. I understand that if you religiously follow the cleaning recommendations and use filtered water, this may never have happened. Now I clean it regularly and I flush out all the water before every use (overkill I know, but that's how I got rid of the funny flavours, i probably don't need to do it now). You have to keep tweaking your grind etc to get a consistent shot but that's just coffee, not the machine's fault. I've had it 3.5 years now and probably made over 2000 coffees.Similar opinion? Love, love, love this machine!!
After the grief of losing my rust ridden Kitchen Aide coffee machine, I looked for the ultimate " at home" machine. The Expobar certainly fits the bill! It is a smaller version of the commercial model, with all the same internal workings. I have had my Expobar for five years now, and it truly is the best coffee machine I have ever owned. It is solid, well made, and the coffee it makes is cafe quality. It's so good in fact, I rarely go out for coffee anymore...mine is better! I cannot recommend this machine highly enough, it was worth every si...Read more
ngle cent! Thank you Expobar, you make my day, every day! PS. I also took the time to do a quick, one night, two hour barista course. They showed me how to use the machine correctly -- grinding, tamping, frothing and cleaning. It all helps to make a better coffee and it was also a lot of fun!Similar opinion? Rancilio Silvia to Expobar Office Leva – Check!
Back in 2013 I reviewed the Rancilio Silvia. Despite a rust problem (dealt with) it is a good machine. So why change? Well, when the word gets out that you make a good coffee people knock on your door. I needed to speed things up—bigger tank, independent and concurrent shot/steam, bigger tray—and after a protracted search I settled on the Expobar Office Leva. It had functionality, looks and was way quicker than the Rancilio which found a new home. Expobar’s bigger brother, Minore IV, was looked at but I could not justify the extra dollars. was more for people who were deeper “into” coffee than me and wanted to experiment with beans. My machine is very solid, has a two jet steam wand, an EB-61 leva group, 1.5 litre copper boiler with a 2000 watt element, and a simple element protection. Stainless steel in contact with water is high quality (magnet test). The machine can be plumbed and demands the best grinder you can afford. This is not an option. In changing weather the grind needs adjusting to get that full crème taste. You can’t do that with fixed grinders or pre-ground beans. It took me a while to get my milk right. As with practically any totally manual machine it pays to do the odd workshop or two. There’s no point buying a machine and not learning how to use it properly. We see this too often in cafes. My final point of reference was the people who do servicing. How many Expobars came through their workshops? Not many it seems although it is hard to assess how many are being sold.Similar opinion? 15-20 seconds if that, a wicked steamer.
u like the machine?
I agree, it’s very fast! It’s a brilliant machine. I’ve had mine for about five years and I absolutely love it! You won’t regret buying one. I do recommend going to do a quick barista course for all the tips to get the most out of it.
