Beautiful object that makes great coffee - once you’ve mastered it.
We’ve had a Little Guy machine for 3 years now, and love it. We use it to make coffee in a holiday cottage with only a gas hob to cook on. The machine is perfect for us.
We drink small flat whites/piccolos and used to make coffee in a plunger, which compared to decent espresso tastes pretty naff. The Little Guy was a huge improvement. It took a bit of initial experimenting, but once we’d mastered it, it makes reliably great coffee that tastes better than most commercial cafes.
It’s not the quickest or most convenient way to make coffee, but it tastes fantastic. It’s also a beautiful and interesting object to have on your bench-top.

Makes beautiful coffee but is NOT for someone after a convenient coffee
I'm a long-term owner - around 6 years.
I have the coffee machine and the matching induction hob.
I've posted my review as I understand that Craig has re-started his business again after chucking in the towel.
Coffee Machine - beautifully made, solid and heavy. I've never had any build quality issues.
Induction Hob - well made and reliable HOWEVER, despite the advertising of it's versatility it is NOT suitable for cooking. The hob's over-heat cutout kicks in very quickly if you try to do anything more than boil water on it. If you are looki...Read more
ng at a Little Guy - do consider buying the matching hob as it adds consistency to the coffee making but don't expect to cook on it. This is why I haven't given this kit a 5 star rating. NOTE also - the Little Guy machine may NOT actually work on other induction hobs. I think this is stated somewhere in the manual or on the website - and it's true, it wouldn't work on our cooking induction hob.Purchased in July 2021 at Myer.

$600 Useless Paperweight
Firstly for some reason I couldn't log in to my account so was forced to make another review otherwise I would have amended my original post I made 3 years ago titled " Mixed Opinion" under 4 star rating.
So to update the position I'm now in, as predicted in my original post the weak link in the design of this machine, the internal "silicone" hoses have blown, making the machine inoperable. I contacted Craig to be questioned, almost interrogated, with the outcome being that the blame was placed on me. I was told to contact his repairer to ha...Read more
ve the hoses replaced for a fee of $180 plus postage. I decided to open up the machine to look at said hoses only to find that 2 of the 4 screws snapped off in the process due to being fused into the threads from corrosion, when showing the the hoses to a professional hose supplier Pirtek I was informed the hoses were in fact "braided PVC" not silicone as stated in the details of the product and that they would make braided stainless steel hoses for nowhere near the $180 price tag I was told from the suggested repairer. These machines are manufactured in China and on closer inspection it shows. I have attempted to drill out the broken screws but to no avail as the quality of the lugholes is that they are off centre leaving no room for error when drilling and re threading. I was told by Craig that he's wrapping up the business so, as unfortunate as that is, I think that if the product had not been made in China maybe I would not now own a $600 paperweight.Purchased in October 2021 at David Jones Online Store for $606.15.

Should be called "the fussy little guy"
Don't expect it to be easy. The grind, bean, weight, quality, tamp pressure, heat source and method are all critical to getting even a single usable shot.
Because of the single boiler design you are relying on the perfect amount of back pressure to get not only a decent extraction but also leaving enough pressure to froth 2 cappuccinos, which I've found to be virtually impossible. And if you only want one shot you waste the second because it won't work on one dose.
I've wasted kgs of coffee trying to get consistent shots with limited success. ...Read more

No problemo!
After four years I was having a problem with my extraction. Craig suggested a flush with with a commercial grade cleaner which I sourced from Botero Roasters in Maclean. Brilliant. Turns out that my mineralised bore water had presented a scaling problem. Love this machine.

Great coffee every day courtesy of Craig, the creator of the Little Guy :)
How can I put? I'd honestly just copy and paste the other reviews as they are consistently describing my awesome experience not only with a product but also the whole customer journey.
I've had the Little Guy for years now and Craig, the inventor, "has been making me coffee" every morning consistently without fail.
This significantly improved idea of the Atomic is a standout and made to last a century with proper maintenance. Thanks to Craig your coffee doesn't have any aftertaste as this device is made of stainless whereas other earlier invent...Read more

Awesome coffee / Customer service
Great espresso, made possibly the best coffees I've ever had. I did have some issues early on so reached out to the company, Craig (founder) got in touch and we chatted on the phone for about 15 minutes. We narrowed it down to user error, taking his comments into account it's been working like a dream.
Highly recommend.

Perfect Espresso Coffee for Home and Travel
I have been using the Little Guy since 2011 (+8 years) and it has been faultless. Great Espresso Coffee and an awesome Flat White. I use it daily at home and also in an off-road caravan when travelling. How good is a real coffee when travelling to remote places in the van! I use with a Little Guy induction top which is via an inverter when travelling in the van. What a great forever investment!

Just the best!
We've had our Little Guy for over 1.5 years now and we can't live without it! The coffee extraction is rich - I liken it to liquid gold - and the crema it produces is luscious, foamy and creamy. It is not a machine that produces a quick coffee; instead, it is a machine that produces a beautifully extracted coffee that is top quality and delicious! A couple of key players in ensuring you get a great brew. Firstly, get the grind right.
This is super important in terms of both taste and steam pressure and secondly, when purchasing, take the time...Read more

What a Guy!
Making coffee with the Little Guy is a positive experience every time. For those who enjoy the process as much as the outcome, this product will leave you feeling like the world is a great place to live in, every morning. That's not to mention the aesthetics!
It takes a few goes to learn how to make great coffee, but that's part of the process of falling in love.
I did had an issue with a seal which broke a few months in. I got in touch, and was very pleased with the customer service and tips. I highly recommend this product!

Coffee to Perfection
The Little Guy, formerly known as Otto, in combination with the purpose built induction pad has been a wonderful inclusion in daily life for over six years now. The upgraded tamper improved daily processes.
Changing coffee grinds and brands can cause the need to change the basket from time to time. Also water taste can impact coffee which we’ve found when travelling with Otto but a change to bottled water has remedied the issue. Yes, Otto does have its own suitcase (like the one featured in the video) and the induction pad has a dedicated ba...Read more
ck pack. Then in travel mode you just need to source of preferred milk and all is good. We prefer to use a coffee grind sourced from Melbourne at home and travelling and if away for extended periods arrange to have ground coffee send to Post Offices along the way. Keeps us happy and Otto and his side kick (induction pad) content Contact with Craig, through their website, has been both expedient and most helpful. A washer here or there has been our only need. Thank you Craig and Team for a wonderful coffee experience through your coffee machine and heating package. Love The Little Guy
We have had our Little Guy for many years and absolutely love it. We love the design, it is simple & elegant & looks great in our kitchen, but most importantly, it makes excellent coffee. It takes a little bit of practice to work out how to get the perfect coffee, (we have found this mostly relates to getting the coffee grind right) but once mastered it makes a delightful morning ritual, and we rarely buy coffee out anymore. It also makes a great babycino!
The maintenance is super easy, there is not much that can go wrong with it, but if yo...Read more

I don’t want to live without my Otto
I’ve had my Otto since 2011, and it took some familiarisation to get the best out of it. Now, I can’t live without it. I love the SLOW ritual of the process of making a coffee. The machine is solidly made, beautiful in your kitchen and can give consistent cafe quality coffee. Get quality beans, use them fresh, preferably grind fresh for perfect extraction. I rarely buy coffee out anymore. I get best results with the companion induction plate. All up highly valued friend in my kitchen.

Absolutely, totally thoroughly hopeless.
Looks great. Otherwise a total dud. Uses MASSIVE amounts of coffee. The only time it makes decent cappuccino is in the tutorials. Waste of money unless it’s just for decoration.

Incredibly happy with the Little Guy
I have been incredibly happy with the Little Guy, using it at least once a day for many years. It makes a delicious coffee, and with the option of heating and frothing the milk, it is truly a great device.
Only downside is the fineness of the bean it takes - if too fine (owners stupid mistake), the machine can blow a gasket - though they do offer a very good maintenance service.

The best coffee I’ve ever had plus reliable plus enjoying the process
The best coffee I’ve ever had plus reliable plus I enjoy the process of making the coffee. Great job on the milk. Looks classy in the kitchen. I definitely recommend getting the induction cooktop as this is the key to reliability of reproducing great coffee. I was resigned to spending an awful lot more to get that perfect cup of coffee to start the day. Enjoy, I am.

Like No Other Coffee Maker You'll Find!
Bought it online from the awesome crew at The Bircher Bar and haven't ever regretted it for a second. It's a staple on my kitchen counter and makes the best home espresso I've ever had - time and time again. I've paired it with the Little Guy Induction Plate and Little Guy Tamper too - can't recommend more!

trouble removing the basket, it is stuck and I want to change to the other basket

You need to insert a knife blade in between the basket and the handle head and pry upwards.
I would sell it, they are a pain to use and getting 2 good cappuccinos from a little guy is impossible whatever basket u try. Just sold mine, very happy to be rid of it.
Basket will come out by pushing something thru the bottom hole of the holder.. shouldn't be stuck just tight

Some questions about my Little Guy (with custom induction plate) which I've been using for a week:
1) The coffee seems to "spit" all over the place, especially towards the end of the extraction process. The bench ends up spotted with coffee in a radius of about 30 cm?
2) Related to question #1 - the manual estimates 60ml extraction in about 90 seconds. I'm getting about 40 ml after 2m30s. Grind too fine? Too much coffee in basket? Tamping too hard? All of the above? I've switched to the basket with lots of holes ("professional") but that's producing watery coffee.

Update - 2 weeks and 3 bags of coffee after purchasing, the most recent cafe knew about The Little Guy (stockist) and even had their grinder set to "TLG" (not a number, actually a setting they'd pencilled in after trial and error. Finally, FINALLY the coffee is tasting smooth and rich with caramel overtones the way I like it, and it's not longer "spitting". Still falling short of the promised 60 mls though but at least I can see progress. It's a good thing I love a challenge :P
Hi. I hope you can provide what exactly is the grinder set to help us new owners. thanks
