Impressive people - impressive process.
We got 3 companies out to compare and my wife and I instantly chose The Extension Factory. The design consultant Wayne was impressive and gave us lots of design ideas we hadn’t thought of. Not pushy like the others. Project manager Bill was excellent and explained every day what was going on which we enjoyed. Our first floor extension and entertainment area were completed on time and was beyond what we had hoped for and didn’t need to move out. Couldn’t be happier.

We should have done this ages ago!
We decided to use the extension factory for our extension and we have been extremely happy with the service provided. They have always listened to our concerns and addressed them in a timely manner. We have also ended up with a gorgeous extension, making the most of the views we can have, and we couldn't be happier.

Bad communication
Since our extension started on first week of Feb 2015 and finished around August 2015 what a nightmare never again would we deal with you people totally incompetent telling us we needed to restump even though it was inspected months earlier to starting delays delays not tarping up the roof properly got stormed out twice tarped up 3 times in the meantime water damage in every room even though you did replace the lounge ceiling before someone was hurt we lost our couch in the carnage things were broken. ild a gate under the house for access but on the wrong side and can only open enough for mighty mouse to fit in stupid! Not to mention foxtel guy almost falling through the ceiling all because a stud was not affixed properly and our bathroom cabinet broken whilst one of your tradies putting it on the wall and dummy fixing it thinking we wouldn't notice anything. Countless phone calls get passed around and never getting a call back to finish the house which still isn't done shonky work is all we can tell others all our money was paid in full and you still can't fulfill your side of it we are taking this matter further anyone else just don't bother its a nightmare with these people even though they knew what I was going through healthwise with my father running in and out of hospital you made it hell for us ty.1 comment

amazing!
The Extension Factory built my extension/renovation and i must say i can't believe how it turned out. The ideas they had to offer worked well and i was quite surprised to see the end result. I was in two minds as to whether to demolish and start fresh or work with what i originally had. I've had nothing but compliments from neighbours, family and friends. It truly is a transformation from a run down home to what now i call "my serenity" I used double glazing for as i live on a main road and have no regrets. Thank you yo the Extension Factory!

amazing
I would like to thank The Extension Factory for the great work that have done with my extension in Surrey Hills. Not only was it completed by Christmas which was one of highest concerns as I had family coming from overseas but I had a really switched on building manager who went over and above his role. The premises was kept clean by the tradesmen whilst we lived in the premises and anything I queried never seemed to be too much to ask. Good work everyone!

Very happy
My wife and I have a beautiful 1st floor extension thanks to The Extension Factory team. The supervisor Bill was so helpful and always available when we rang him. His knowledge and experience went a long way with us as we didn’t know what to expect. We’ve never done any sort of building before so for us it was quite nerve wracking. The design changed a couple of times because of us but the Extension Factory were very patient and understanding, they spent many hours with us making sure we were content with the design and even helped kept the cos...Read more

Thanks again to The Extension Factory Staff and especially the trades.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Disaster!+
I would never recommend these people or this business! We built on second floor extension in 2000. Disaster from the start. When roof removed, left without tarp overnight, worst storm of the season, water flooding down wall cavities and out of new down light fittings over course of 24 hours. Major clean up and much stress. Carpenter fell through the ceiling - TWICE! Ok in the lounge as stairs went in that area, but major issue in kitchen. This was repaired 'under insurance' yeah right, by an apprentice I suspect. New piece of plaster board cut ...Read more
and hung, don't know what issue was (too small or not fixed properly to batons perhaps), but join cracked repeatedly. At least 3 times I had to get them out to repair - the solution - new plaster slapped over cracked area creating very an obvious ceiling square. In the end they refused to send someone out to fix it. Fast forward to now, old damaged area has caused more cracks to appear in every direction, radiating out as undue tension has been applied by cracked and now sagging original cracked area. Have just had quite a bit of repair work done at my expense now, as given up of fighting it. Also now have a myriad of cracks in extension walls. Every time I hear the radio ads I fume. Would never recommend these people!
My work was done some years ago so perhaps things have changed. But my experience was shocking. The quality of the work was poor. Indeed, I needed to go to the Building Commission who then gave orders that poor work needed to be fixed. This meant leaks had to be fixed, balconies had to be pulled up and run offs and waterproofing installed. The delays went on for months and it was an ongoing battle. A totally unpleasant experience. Again, this was a number of years ago but the bad memories are still vivid!

Building Our Dream Custom Home
We have been really pleasantly surprised with our experience with Sperway Homes (knock-down-rebuild business of Extension Factory). Not only are all the staff involved very friendly and approachable, everything about their operating process is transparent. We love their designs and workmanship, and their attention to detail from day one has been fantastic. At no point have we felt ‘alone’ in this process and have complete confidence in the whole team. Their common sense approach to building and fantastic quality truly raises them above all othe...Read more
rs in the market. What’s more, their pricing is very competitive and their selections have been perfect for the style we wanted in our home. Job well done!!
When wanting to add master bedroom, WIR, ensuite, main bathroom and separate toilet, kitchen, dining, lounge and new roof, we thought of the Extension Factory. We are so glad we did. As experienced renovators, but not builders, they worked with us from the get go. The architect was able to include everything we wanted in extension in a cost effective way and with the land we had available. The project manager Zac, worked with us as we built a three car garage (to live in during the build) and tear down the back end of the old house in prepa...Read more
ration for the new works and every step of the new build thereafter. They understood our needs and timelines. Furthermore, with a 60 year old weatherboard house, we thankfully were allocated a wonderful carpenter Joe from start to finish, whose experience and expertise is beyond words. Joe was able to work with us and guide us to ensure our extension looks seamless with the rest of the house. Thank you so much to the all the team at the Extension Factory – job well done, we are most grateful for all your hard work and expertise.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Excellent Finishes...
From the outset, Extension Factory understood our vision for a second storey extension. We had a large master bedroom, ensuite, second lounge area and winding staircase built. The carpenter who built the frame was fantastic and we are very pleased with the quality of the final finishes. If you are thinking of a double storey extension in order to make the home that you already love a bit more spacious, then we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Extension Factory.

Impressive Workmanship, Exceptional Customer Service
The work done to my extension has got my friends talking, not just from the design aspect but also from a potential buyers view. It looks so different now and I can't wait to spend Christmas with my family in this newly created home. Thanks to all the staff that made it happen! Love living in South Melbourne even more.

Over a Year And Still Not Finished
I read with some amusement that one subscriber said they were delayed 3 weeks by an extension factory plasterer - try 4 months delay with several 'alternative' plasterers tried until they found one that did it at a price they were happy with. We are not back in our home yet and the whole thing has been a disaster I cannot in good faith give any recommendation to extension factory and I'd invite anyone to come and see the mess our house is still in today - 8th October 2015 and they started delivering things in July 2014.

Very Happy with our Extension
The process from design and ideas to the end product was really quite smooth. Issues do arise in extensions I found out but I was always impressed with the problem solving skills of the site manager. Tradies were really great guys. It is tough to live in while extending but they tried to make it as painless as possible.

On time and on budget!
We needed to expand our existing 2-bed home with a complicated ground-floor extension comprising lounge area, new master bedroom and ensuite which had to very closely match to our existing 50's brick-veneer house. By reusing existing materials and sourcing others from unusual places, The Extension Factory did a wonderful job, right from [name removed] initial concept design to construction. So much could have gone wrong, but Project Manager [name removed] selected all the right tradesmen for our job and the carpentry [name removed] and bricklaying [name removed] in particular which were so critical to the success of this project really was first class. Very happy indeed!

Great Extension
Very pleased with the result of our extension. Completed ahead of time although I think they could have completed it a lot earlier if the trades had spent more time on site. Site manager was easy to deal with and always kept us informed as to what stage they were at. Tradesmen were all great though plasters were unrelieable and did leave a mess after each visit. Would recommend the Extension Factory but would not recommend that anyone live in the house while building is going on especially if you are building during winter

Job well done
We added 2 bedrooms to our home to accommodate our growing family. Overall the process was managed well by our project manager Bill, who was very friendly to deal with.
Some excellent trades were used by The Extension Factory, especially Aaron -the carpenter, Darrel -the plumber & ‘Jaywired Electrical Services’- we highly recommend all three.
Our extension was completed well, and on time. Thank you Extension Factory.

Great Job
We turned our single story, 2 bdrm weatherboard into a 2 story 5 bdrm home. Overall the process was well managed. We were communicated and kept up to date the whole time throughout the entire process from design through to final completion. Our building supervisor John was great to deal with and would provide advice and assistance to make sure that the end result was what we wanted. We would like to thanks the whole team at the Extension Factory for making the experience a memorable one and would have no issue recommending them to anyone wanting to renovate their house.

Great design and execution of the project.
The Extension Factory took our concepts of a new dining room and kitchen area with large decked area incorporating a versatile bi-fold door system and turned it into a pleasant reality! We have a great new living space that is exactly how we imagined it, the dining area can be opened into the deck - garden to extend the room for entertaining a large group easily. The whole family is extremely happy with the results.
John, the project manager, communicated every step of the way and made the whole experience a great one!

does this company do built in kitchen alfresco with swim spa?

I think they would But you would be better off asking them directly
I would not be sure about the spa. I would use spa experts for that. I do not recommend using the company. You can see evidence of the level of quality of their work and practices on the extension factory experience facebook page.
Thanks
I think we’ll go to a different company

Hi i require an urgent extension on top 2 bedrooms and bathrrom, i live in caulfield. Also do you take care of council permits etc?

Hi, I don't actually work for them, but they did take of our permits.
Regs,
Cam
Yes they do. But take some advice and don't even contemplate using Extension Factory if you want to retain sanity. They are hopeless, too many supervisors covering there own A#$ and nothing happens. Communication non existent.
Easier to do it yourself, as a few people have mentioned they are slow. Also they tend to wait for things to happen, dont get on the front foot so let councils take longer than needed. Our first permit took a 2 weeks, not done by the EF, the EF minor change took over 2 months and I ended up ringing the council to sort out some issues.
