Great washing machine - cleans well- exactly what I was looking for

published

I use this washing machine several times a week and overall, I have been happy with it. I was everything from clothes, to woollens and delicates to heavy duty clothes.
It is big enough to handle my blankets etc.
it washes delicates well - although the spin cycle leaves them a little wet, this is to be expected.

I find the functions easy to understand and operate.
I wish you could program a favourite cycle as it defaults to warm wash and I usually wash cold, but this is my only improvement.

The cycle times are reasonable. My last F&P quick cycle was a little faster, but I can't complain with 40ish mins.

Very happy! I hope it lasts as long as my last F&P

Quality is sliding

published

This is our family washer and it gets a pounding with active kids but I grew up with Fisher and Paykel products and I can see that decline in quality. These use to last 20 years - people would literally have the same washer their entire childhoods. These days with all the plastic and flimsy cheap metal I would be surprised if it runs past five years. Anyway ours is about three and still going but we will see for how long

Works well but cheaper than before

published

We have had this for over five years and it still running! It thought it would pack up about a year ago and it was making a screeching noise went it emptied but it somehow got over it. If you know the old days of Fischer and Paykel, you will know that these modern machines are no where near as solidly built but hey, five years and still going strong so thats not too bad (by today's standards)

Perfect for our needs

published

We are a family of four adults and many over night visitors so the wash machine is used three times a week. The selection of wash cycles is great to wash different fabrics. The spin dry does a great job so the drying time is reduced. We have worked this machine hard for at least two years without any problems.

Loads of room inside!

published

This replaced a very old top loader and I was a bit unsure of the whole electronic controls thing. So far it is a very good quality machine. Takes a huge load. The different settings are more than I would ever need. Washes clothes well. Spin is excellent. It's pretty quiet. I think it should have a lint filter as washing it all down the drain is bad for the environment. Otherwise I am pleased.

Reliable Family Washer

published

We have two boys so the washer seems like its always on. School clothes, sports clothes, the latest spill. This is our second Fisher & Paykel machine and we know they are very reliable. Our last one was over twenty years old and still working when we replaced it! The controls are simple and its build strong, We anticipate having this one for twenty years too if possible.

Reliable Workhorse

published

This gets used every day at our place and never misses a beat. We have had great reliability although the water pump did go through a month or two of making a screeching sound which it stopped doing after a while. It may not be the most advanced or the softest on clothes - it is more of a typical traditional family washer. I would prefer a front loader but this model suits us well at the moment.

Recommended washing machine.

published

I bought this machine as a replacement to my smaller 5kg F&P washing machine that lasted over 10 years, which is pretty good considering the other person using it had a compulsive excessive cleaning issue which mean my poor machine went almost non stop everyday. I was so happy with the old model that I didn’t even consider another brand. So happy with my purchase, it’s even easier to use that the previous model. I highly recommend this brand, it costs a little more than some other brands but definitely outlasts them all including the ridiculously priced Europeans brands.

Family Trooper Always Does The Job

published

Nothing is made to last any more but the Fisher and Paykel top loaders come close.
We wash a lot of clothes daily and this has not missed a beat. The one it replaced kept going for over 15 years so I really hope to get something close from this.
It's probably not the most water efficient - most top loaders are not but it never misses a beat and runs nice and quiet. The only complaint I have is that it went through a phase of making a squealing noise when the drain pump was running. I actually ordered a new pump motor and the problem stopped before the part arrived and hasn't returned. So I guess I have a spare.
It's good performer and almost a member of the family!

Another beautie !

published

Efficient and quiet with great options ie I prefer Allergy wash as has 2 rinses. But for my husbands work clothes use Heavy wash.
Our previous F&P washing machine lasted 15 yrs during children & many wash days. This is smaller so suits the two of us but still offers good options .
I find the " time remaining " clock very practical.

Amazing value!

published

I had recently bought this washing machine, the installation and learning process was really easy and quick to understand. It was quite cheap too for the performance that it brings. It was much better than my previous washing machine that was quite complicated and was quick to break down, requiring a lot of maintanance.

Quiet, efficient

published

Works nicely and quietly, it is faster than the LG that it replaced. Has all the features I would want: timer, quick wash, heavies, delicates, soak, rinse, etc. I also greatly appreciate the digital display telling you the time remaining. I had very little space to put it in and it barely fit. The only thing I miss from the LG is the glass top but that's purely aesthetic.

Great Machine

published

This is my second Fisher and Paykel top loading machine. My first never missed a beat and went for 20 years. This machine is even quieter and love that it displays how many minutes left in a wash cycle. Brilliantly washes and rinses. Would recommend Fisher and Paykel to anyone looking for a new machine.

Most reliable washing machine around

published

After researching for weeks for a washing machine for our new place, I decided to change from using a Samsung for the last 10 years to a fisher and paykel and it was definitely an upgrade. It has a consistent wash every time and is much quieter than our last one. It has exceeded my expectations!

Why is the water pump so noisy after it pumps out the water compared to my 20 year old one.
NZ made one had French made water pump, new one is Italian Askoll brand made in China!

F&P no longer care about quality - my old F&P was virtually silent, clothes spun to almost dry, but my new replacement one is louder than a lawn mower, the clothes are dripping wet after final spin, and are covered in lint. I regret going with F&P again, quality of machine and care factor from their complaints Dept is zero. They are cutting costs wherever they can by using cheap parts!

JB

Yes Ive had a very similar experience with my new F&P machine, old one was much better :(

Martin

Agreed they use some Italian designed pump made in China & Pulse it.
Thankfully the rest of the machine is made assembled in Thailand. They afraid to put made in Thailand, that should be a premium product then :-)
At least it does complete cycle times faster with small loads but the water pump makes it sound like a $2 Chinese design. It is what happens when a great company is bought out by Chinese. I'll be glad one day when 1st world companies make again
