Hi folks, I have a 2000 transit vg 2.5td. there is no turbo boost. turbo spins fin. Actuator works when I apply air pressure. Engine light on computer says egr valve blocked outdent imagine that would effect the turbo. Only thing I can think of is maybe the waste gate has blown out and its not building pressure - Is that a possibility, its done 440000 km. No vacuum leaks. Any ideas? driving me nut. Cheers

I have a ford transit auto icecream van with the 3 buttons on the dash when I stop and start a lot running the streets, I put it in drive go to take offand it clunkes and stalls the motor, some times I have to do it a couple of times to get it going, I can drive it for 2 hour drive to do rodeos and it seams to be fine but to do the stop and start a lot it happens again I've spent $1700 to have it looked at but they didn't fix it, they told me I have to take it to Melbourne because that's the only place that does the computer, can anyone tell me what they think this problem could be?

Sorry Cant answer that one, as I do not have a auto
I am a ford transit owner, but not qualified to answer your specific question. But I do have one thought that repeatedly comes to mind. Repairs are costing owners a lot more money, than should be the case. A new vehicle is covered by the manufacturers warranty in the first few years. That is good, but when out of warranty, our vehicles are subject to costs that may make us see red. If your vehicle is out of warranty, just like say a tv or fridge, it is more cost effective to replace. In my case, I have not been able to afford a new vehicle, so I have to ware the costs of ownership. My other regret, is that being loyal to the Ford Marque makes not the slightest difference to Ford. I have never been contacted by Ford . And so I wonder, would any other manufacturer keep it's existing customers by maintaining some contact for any concerns customers may have. Would another manufacturer make much more effort?. As I purchase various products and services, I like to think loyalty is a two way street.
I took my own pump and under the cup looks like a mini alternator, This was full of carbon which was preventing the pump from turning and communicating. Inside is this cup is brushes also. Best way to take pump out is by the bracket it sits in. 3 bolts. I sprayed with electrical cleaner, put it back in and is going like a rocket but just needs bleeding. There is a bleed nipple on top of pump. Have a go.

Hi I own a 2010 Ford Transit cab chassis turbo diesel with a slide in camper imported from USA and have had no other problems other than cracked head and now a computer problem, It Hasn't really let me down and enjoy driving it everyday. I have now done 175,000 km. They say they are not as good as Fait or Iveco but it what you can afford at the time, I know that the earlier models had problems so do all models old or new as long as you expect that you may have to carry out repairs if needed and and if you dont its a bonus. good luck and enjoy
Hi,
I have a Kea Endeavour motorhome, that is build on a Ford Transit 2010 chassis. I bought it when it had done 90.000 km. We have been enjoying it till one day when I checked the oil and water, and found oil in the water reservoir. It was the oil cooler that was broken. The engine had \done just shy of 150.000 Km.
A few months later a screeching noise, and it turned out to be a broken alternator. For a while I had some smudge appearing on the back of the motorhome. Thought it was road grime or diesel sooth. Worked out to be an oil leak from vacuum pump and oil filter housing. That was fixed 2 months ago, and (fingers crossed), did not have any other problems yet.
So we did not have a good run and had to endure a few costly repairs. And now we drive around with fear of something else happening and watch the dashboard all the time. Maybe this was it and we will not have any major breakdowns anymore, but it takes a few years to confirm such. Good luck and whatever choice you make, enjoy.

I was looking at the Ford Transit & Renault traffic (which switch of the engine) Sales rep said that the Renault has a button on the dash to override so you can choose when to apply this feature. This would be no problems country driving but in the city would be a pain. and as both are European made they may have same features
I am not qualified to answer your question Scott. But new vehicles are being upgraded with new features both for safety and economy. My own personal veiw, is that a vehicle engine that switches itself off when idling say at traffic lights, would probably be normal to a driver after a period of time. It is surprising how drivers automatically get used to these new features on vehicles. If a vehicle gives you the choice of a feature being able to be turned off and on, so much tbe better for preference.

Front wheel bearings are they poor or what?
2 answers
Have not experienced a problem with front wheel bearings (yet), but I am not surprised this would be the next unexpected cost on my ford Transit VM.
- At 149.000 km, oil cooler failed. Cost $ 5.000
- At 155.000 km, alternator broken.
Cost $ 1.500
So yeah, what will the next thing be, front wheel bearings????
some one just ripe you off, if you are in Melbourne . There is one good ford Transit Mechanic. Let me know . if you need any detail

Is there much to replace the clutch in a VM 2010 transit?

Hi, Sorry I can not answer this question. I am not a mechanic and do not work on the car myself. There are a few YouTube sessions that explain the process.
Good luck with your project
Sorry i am not a mechanic but have had an inspection on my vm transit 4 months ago, had a smell coming from my clutch and they said that there are about four types of clutches plates used in this vehicle kits were quoted at $1500
can only say use genuine part for ford transit, Genuine ford clutch kit with single mask flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, Thrust bearing, spigot bearing, rear man seal will cost you almost $2000 with fitted . Always Genuine

2.4 LTR turbo diesel ... Could it be the main computer failure ? Very frustrating when it is your home ...

Possibly the EGR valve. The coiled light on the instrument panel is the giveaway.
I also had to replace the diesel injector pump on mine at 382,000km, after it refused to start, but it sounds like you have already addressed that issue. Make sure you get a new or reconditioned unit though, or you will have more problems.
Don't by ayrany from reef city ford gladstone. They won't ohner worrenty. Sucks.
Check your sensor that connects to the glow plug rail. Have your glow plugs tested as well. This is an old post and you have probably sorted it. Would like to know what the problem was.
