Hi we have just assembled our gasmate bbq and the thermometer already reads at 12 degrees, how is that possible if it's not even on? And does this mean it will give me the wrong temperature when I am actually using it?
1 answer
Hi Jessica,
My Gasmate Cruiser doesn't have a thermometer so you must have a different model. It could be reading in centigrade so that is probably room temperature, I am sure it is working correctly.

I'm thinking of buying one of these bbq's for use on our balcony and will sit it on an auto trolley that is very solid on wheels. I have noticed comments re people having trouble with the legs collapsing. The model I have looked at has fairly solid heavy black folding legs, however on the box the unit has very thin silver coloured legs that look flimsy. Would these have been the legs that collapsed, and has that problem been rectified with current stock? I've seen them at a BFC Store.

Hi
I am unsure as I have stayed away from them since we purchased ours.
The only thing I would suggest is to open the box and trial it in store. If you are happy buy the product. It's under warranty and you can always return it.
Thank you. But on second thoughts we decided to spend more and have just set up our new Weber Baby Q. Very Happy.
My model has sturdy black legs which are secured open with spring loaded pins, they have never collapsed. The stove is good value, I have had it for over 3 years

Hi, can you please tell me what the small wire implement (some sort of key) attached to chain wire behind the ignition switch is used for?

Good question, I have always wondered what this is for myself !!
IT holds a match, so that your fingers are not burnt if you light the BBQ that way,

Hi! Just wondering if the barbecue can be hard wired into a gas line on a caravan so I don't have to connect a bottle gas every time we cook.

Hi,
I am very happy with my Gasmate BBQ and I use it on my boat and caravan a lot.
It has it's own regulator so can be safely used on your caravan through a bayonet connection (fitted by a licensed plumber).
Regards,
JC
It can, but not with over the counter parts.
I had to custom make an adapter with inline control valve, minus the regulator.
Without this modification; assuming your van is regulated; you would then be double regulated, which; will work but not reach maximum heat.

How do I do a roast on it, all that happens is that it burns the plate? Is it possible to get a grill plate for it?

Hi, when I have used it for a toast I have placed the meat ins foil tray on a sturdy cake stand and this has worked for me...
Make sure the stand is clicked in and it's on a stable level table;
I placed my roast in a tin or on top on potatoes.
