Noisy pump and terrible customer service
I am a professional plumber. I have had call backs and problems with every scala 2 pump I installed. I recently had to remove one of these pumps because of a chronic thump noise when the pump shut off. I will have to eat the cost. Grundfos know of the problem and waste more time sending out parts that dont fix the problem. They refuse to issue a refund.
Grundfos used to be reputable. Do not buy this junk pump.

Grundfos scala 2 total failure of a pump
I had purchased 10 of these for various residential apartment and small home projects. Installed them all So far in the last 1 YEAR, I had 7 of the Fail, the last 3 are on thier last legs making strange sounds and water pressure unstable. I dont know what kind of cheaply made or poorly designed pump Grundfos has produced here however these are total junk. I would SERIOUSLY reconsider buying any products from Grundfos again, back to Goulds for me.
Purchased at Amazon for A$699.00.

Don’t waste your money on a Scala2
I have purchased and installed 12 of the Scala2 pumps over a 18month period and I have had 3 warranty claims, one leaking from inside the plastic casing and two with power fault issues. The warranty process is not prompt in New Zealand so don’t expect much support from the supplier .

Warranted without question and replaced with a bigger more basic model

Starts out nice & quite far too early they failed
I purchased a Scala2, being expensive I expected a long life. It was quite for about 12 months gradually getting noisier until the pump section fell apart internally. The dealer replaced it and now about 14 months later the new one became noisey and soon seized, I have yet to call the dealer.
Only two of us in the house and the water supply is rain water and only into the house, garden is town supply.
My previous pump, a Dab is now back on duty. I also think the operation of the Grundfos uses more electricity then a more conventional pressure pump.
Purchased at Dural irrigation..

Long days journey into night
Great for the first year, progressively got worse until 6 months out of warranty it's pumping at about a quarter volume even after trying everything in the manual. Paid $800 for it because the sales guy said it would last for many years. Checked with them - they stopped selling because of customer complaints and no buy-in from Grundfos! It's on its way to the tip, replaced with a $169 eBay model that is fantastic so far.
Purchased in February 2021.

Promised so much!
Problems from first day, wouldn't draw water from my in ground tank. Had to put on top of tank to work, less than 3 metres. Stopped working after a week, returned to shop to find initial factory settings were not as claimed. Problems with constant cycling of pump. Had to turn down to minimal pressure to keep it going at all. Finally after 2 years and 6 months it dies. Service provider says not viable to repair and that they stopped stocking pump after repeated problems for customers. Six months out of warranty.
Purchased in January 2021.

Malfunctioning after minimal use
My Scala2 is about a year old and now leaks and makes a racket when running. It is about to fail. For a $800 pump, it's very disappointing. It sounds like a grinding noise. I did some googling and was horrified to find that the Amazon reviews for this supposedly high quality product are really bad with 30%+ giving it a 1-star review. Lots of stories on the internet of leaks, repair kits for the leaks (see Youtube), sudden failures, poor construction etc.

factured no more than six months before you purchase it. Second, the consumer cannot deal directly with Grundfos. They want the pump returned to them via the dealer before providing any warranty service. Another customer review talked about having had three of these Grundfos pumps, that they work great for about 3-6 months. Then slowly the seal goes and suddenly the pump will stop altogether. I've contacted Grundfos and they immediately gave me the flick, telling me to go via the dealer, but I bought it on eBay and the dealer is thousands of km away, so how will that work? I'll update this with the outcome.1 comment

Beyond my expectations
I bought this product on-line from ASC Water Tanks in Melbourne at a great price. It’s truly a beautiful piece of engineering. I was a little apprehensive at first as the full instruction manual (which you can only access online after making the purchase) raised issues that in the end I didn't have to be concerned about.
The pump is extremely quiet. I installed it to connect rainwater tanks to the house as an alternative to mains water. I have set the pump only half way on the pressure scale (3.5 bar), and it produces more pressure than the...Read more
mains. (I am afraid that 5 bar might burst the plastic plumbing that the house was built with!) The manual recommends connecting with flexible hoses and describes how simple it is to use them. I couldn't find anything suitable, either in physical stores or on line. But as you can see from the photos (if there was a place to upload them) the end result works and is drip free.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

I have had several of these pumps that all fail after about a year. Usually the mechanical seal leaks. Installed new seal and it still leaks. I read somewhere that the plastic case cracks causing the leak but have thoroughly inspected and found no cracks. Perhaps someone knows where to look for the crack. I don't think the seal is leaking-think I may have a cracked housing. Any help?

Grundfos have now supplied me with a replacement Scala2 pump. I am anxious about this because some of the reviewers of this pump at Amazon had several replacement Scala2 pumps in a row, each of which became faulty. Will update.....
