Excellent Products & Service
I have been with Naked Wines for a number of years and have found them to be very helpful with a great value range of products. I usually order from the lower price range, and for under $10 you can get some very enjoyable wines that compare very favourably with most wines I've tried in that price range. As for people claiming it's a scam, come on really??? What do you expect, you're just getting $100 worth of free wine? It's quite a while ago now that I joined, but I recall it being fairly obvious what the conditions were. You get a $100 discou...Read more

Delivery stolen/lost and no help
I had a delivery that never arrived after having multiple delivered successfully before.
When enquires they said the box was signed for, by a name I don’t know. So the delivery man had obviously handed my parcel over to someone clearly not in my unit as I lived alone, which they should not do.
They also said delivery noted it was dropped off at 6.13am and left at my front door as per my instructions. Well I don’t leave for work that early so there’s no way I’ve missed it.
I believe they took it to the wrong unit or something and someone has ...Read more

Sucked In
Like other people in this thread about Naked Wines, I got sucked in also. With no intention of becoming a member of anything, and under the impression I was merely buying a carton of wine fom an online retailer, only to find a $40 credit card debit for something I did not order, appear 3 or 4 weks after my wine order. Hopefully it has been resolved as a phone consultant there said they would cancel that "membership" and refund the $40, citing a period of 2 to 5 working days.

Good as far as subscription based wine clubs go
Can be a surprise to those who don't know that you pay a monthly amount for credit for wines, but surprised at the price and quality of wines. Money that you pay is enough to choose a case every 3-5 months or so. Other wine services (eg. virgin wines) automatically take $200 from your account every 3 months and send you a random batch of wines which is much much worse. Good and interesting selection of wine!

Why, oh why, does Naked Wines use FASTWAY as their Courier?
The wines are great, but Naked Wines decision to save themselves a few cents and use FASTWAY COURIERS (the worst Couriers in Australia by reputuation - have a read about them on ieatwords) as their only delivery option spoils everything. Constantly late, no call centre, have to speak to actual franchise delivery driver with no contact details, who is ruder and smellier than an average Taxi Driver. Why, oh, why do you use them, Naked Wines? Use Courier Please or even better, Australia Post, like everyone else does.

Like the concept but not the obligation.
I was speaking to someone about Naked Wines and I was impressed by the concept of supporting small producers so thought I would jump on and order a few to try. Not interested in signing up but that is fine as you can buy by the case. However, when I got to the checkout and realized I could only purchase by storing my credit card details with the company I was out. Far too great an obligation. In the world of PayPal etc. it seems very shortsighted. So I have not ended up trying and won't unless this arrangement changes.

Excellent customer service when dealing with delivery hassles.
Ok, so first off the bat; anyone who thinks they are being given a $100 free credit without any strings attached needs a reality check. If you're too thick or too lazy to figure out what those strings are, well caveat emptor baby.
That said, my experience with Naked Wines to date has not been without its frustrations. I signed up for an Angel membership in order to cash in on the $100 voucher in time for Christmas. Website said free next day delivery to Sydney metro so I placed my order to align with a day I knew someone would be home to acc...Read more
ept delivery. Except the delivery never came. Re-checking my confirmation email, I notice that it said 2 day delivery, and I'd been charged a delivery fee. Got on the phone to have a wee rant at them (bonus points for having a local phone number and real people on the end of it!). They quickly agreed I shouldn't have been charged for delivery and refunded it. The 2 day delivery was a bit more of a sticking point. They insisted that by using the delivery calculator, it came up with 2 day delivery, which must mean I'm outside the metro area. Given I live less than 3km from the Sydney CBD, I called nonsense on that explanation. I also then checked the calculated delivery time for Sydney 2000 postcode (ie: the dead centre of the city) and Melbourne 3000 (for comparison) and both were giving 2 day delivery. They then said it was probably due to the time of year and the sheer volume of orders right now. Look, that's fine, its a busy time of year, but a) don't advertise next day delivery if its not available and b) don't make me go hunting deep, deep into the bowels of your website for a delivery calculator I didn't know I needed to use, or wait until my order confirmation arrives, to find out that I'm not getting next day delivery. Update your website wording, add a banner, or something. Your customers are busy this time of year too and flapping around trying to sort out re-deliveries and dealing with couriers (quelle horreur!) is an unnecessarily pain point. End of a long story; Naked Wines delayed my delivery by a week until the next time I could be home to accept delivery, refunded the charge and have apparently added a freebie to my next order by way of apology. So not perfect, but they clearly care about keeping customers happy and that goes a long way. Just hope the wine is good after all this!1 comment

Yes Naked Wines $40 deal is a scam
Saw comments re $40/month payment and checked, sure enough, disclaimers buried towards bottom of email confirm that I will be charged monthly. There was no reference at all to it in their promotion or communications, they even sidle up to it sneakily by stating '... they make spectacular wines for you, at insider prices. So your $40 gets you better wine ...' that was the first mention of the $40 - on 6th paragraph down of introductory email. Even then its not totally clear is it? Scammed
Just realised I have been scammed out of $40/month with nothing in return. I took up a free offer but did not willingly give permission to keep taking money. Not only this, they keep changing their name on the transaction description. Eg credit card statements from:-

Beware of this deceptive scam.
As there were other similar credit card amounts for other legit reasons it was easy to miss.
Not to mention the wines was not great so remember making a decision not to continue.

Awful wines at a steep price
I took up the offer based on a coupon sent from a vendor (I had purchased something from Kogan online). There were two different coupons I received, both offering "introductory" pricing but the prices were significantly different based on the two different coupons. Naked Angel clarified this to advise that "better quality" wines were sent for the more expensive purchase. I opted to try the better quality wines.

y) around $20. Over the next month, I sampled all the reds (shiraz; merlot; cabernet; etc.). There were four out of 12 that were unpalatable. They were high in tannin and had a nasty after-taste. They were just plain awful. There were a few that were smoother but still high in tannin and definitely not something I would want to drink again. I wrote a letter of complaint to Naked Wines who said that they would replace any wine that was not acceptable but I don't know how I would go trying to return opened bottles with at least a full glass drunk. Last week, I went to a local wine supplier and I purchased two bottles of Cab/Sav for $15 each. These were (without word of a lie) smooth as silk and wine that I would happily buy again (at a price significantly cheaper than those charged by Naked Angel).1 comment

Disappointed
Love the concept, but didn't have a good experience. Ordered a dozen mixed, mediocre is an understatement. Didn't expect them to be amazing, just drinkable and an opportunity to try some new Australian wines.
Like others, I got caught out with the automatic $40 monthly subscription, details of which can only be found in the fine print (i.e. it's not stated anywhere in the body of the emails I received after my initial purchase, or in my profile/account on the website). Yes, you should always read the T&Cs, that doesn't change the fact that this is still blatantly sneaky. This was immediately cancelled and refunded when I rang the customer service number.
Seriously underwhelmed by the quality of the wine and my overall experience.

NW, look at the number of people who are affected by this opt-in method. If your website is so clear, why is there so much confusion? Your website must be poorly designed and non-intuitive to command such an overwhelming amount of similar responses.
I’d suggest a company that cared about it’s consumers would have fixed this years ago, rather than referring back to their t&cs every time someone gets caught out.
