Ongoing repairs, very expensive to fix

published

We don’t recommend this cooktop due to ongoing repairs required and ridiculous cost of parts. Overall we Have been happy with function of gas burners apart from needing repairs for ongoing ignition faults (constant clicking). The induction has never worked with smaller pots and pans, has to be medium to big.
Ongoing call outs for faults 6 in 6 years. Now out of warranty we have a cost of $1200 to repair induction for a small (German) part to be replaced. Everyone ( technician and us) agrees it is just ridiculous. Alternative is simply not to use the induction ever again.
I would advise a different brand of stove for new buyers. It’s just not reliable enough and way too expensive to repair.

Induction unit failure

published

Cooktop was replaced 3 times because induction unit blew out. Told not to use boost function as it sill has a few bugs. Gas burners are great however don't try to scrub them to hard as heatproof paint comes straight off to reveal brass. Burners should be coated in vitro us enamel.

Induction is hopless

published

Agree with other reviews the induction is a total failure. The induction only works on cheap thin metal saucepans and not on many others made for induction. This unit was very pricy and I feel as I have been cheated as it does not perform as it should and even boiling water takes forever. Stay away from it.

Phenomenal!!

Unbelievably versatile cooktop!
The fact I can put my wok on any of 4 positions without an adapter is simple professional in my opinion.
The heat control is accurate and controlled.
The induction zone is quite simply amazing in its speed and accuracy.
There's not much that you cannot do at the same time with this product.
I love it :)

I am about to purchase one of these Gas cooktops but after reading the reviews I am very hesitant. Many reviews are saying the stoves are terrible and not worth the money. Can you give me any details?
Thank you Joanne

Joanne, in short I wouldn't buy one again but there are some pluses and minuses so it depends on your situation. We wanted mainly gas but an induction option as we like the speed and control and have a Miele all induction cooktop in a unit we stay in regularly.

The Miele unit is fantastic and still better than the latest version of the Highland for induction. But the Highland gas burners are the best I have come across - wok-like temperature on every burner but variable right down to very low temperatures. The new induction unit (now 5kw rather than 3kw) does the job but not quite like the Miele.

E&S kindly replaced our previous Highland cooktop with s new one when the more powerful induction unit came out (more than two years after initial purchase) and we're happier with the induction.

However both the old and new unit still have issues with the gas ignition coming on and off at times and we had some bubbling on the glass top with the old unit - too early to say if it will be an issue with the replacement, but you have to be vigilant to clean up.

They're nice looking units and the gas is fantastic and the induction now okay but given our issues I would go with three of the individual Miele units - two gas, one induction. A bit dearer but most likely much better overall. Other main difference is the Highland has more cooktop space - which is in part why we didn't pull it out and out in the Miele units - the hole in our stone benchtop was too big.

Hope that helps. I'm on 0412 952 030 if you want to ask anything else. Wayne.

What electrical work is necessary for correct installation for the induction plate?

The same rating as for your normal electric hotplate - not sure exactly (15amps I think).
