Rock solid build, great on highway, poor turning abilities, poor visibility
Bough a second hand 2015 colorado 7 it's a great car to drive but it comes with a couple of major down falls. The car is firstly fantastic on the highway and it's awesome on fuel economy, we took ours across Australia and got 900kms to a rank of fuel, not towing anything. The car feels Rock solid, but it has very poor steering and handling abilities and its turning circle is even worse. We had a very unpleasant accelerator pedal problem, that gave us a sore foot and leg on the pushing motion, not sure what that was about, we had the mechanic lo...Read more
ok at it but it seemed that problem could not be fixed, eventually that's why we got rid of it. Mechanical it's diesel engine us flawless, the only negative is its inability to take off when you need it to be a bit speedy. So with more than 220000km on the clock this car still service at a low cost, only had the diesel enjectors cleaned once. The thing we disliked the most is how stiff the body of the car was and how bumpy and poor it responded to rough road surfaces, not pleasant at all. So I can only give it one star on the ground of the poor visibility, poor handling and steering and its stiff body. Could I recommend this car to anyone? The answer would be No.Purchased in August 2021 for $18,000.00.

OK but not great
Vehicle now has 76000km on it, mostly on road & no towing, so easy life. No issues with motor, fuel consumtion as expected, handles well for a 4x4 wagon.
Roomy inside and comfortable, third row seats are easy to access.
Hard cabin plastic easily scratched.
Oil leaks from tranmision and drive train & faulty wiper motor fixed under warranty, but only after being fobbed off by dealer for a quite some time.
Leather in front seats cracks and peels after little use, this is not covered by Holden warranty as it is considered wear and tear. ( Fit...Read more

I love my car!
Best car we could have chosen. 7 seats and all 7 seats comfortable. Us adults often climb in the back. Can fit 3 car seats along 2nd row easy. Cheap to run and servicing cheap as well. This car has never let us down. My favourite cosmetic fesature is the heated car seats makes the cold trip to work easier. The only problem we have had with the car is the usb port is in the centre concoul and can get knocked and damaged easily!!!

Good 4wd with adjustments
On road our 2015 Colorado 7 is a very good vehicle. Good acceleration, a little noisy down the gears but cruises and handles quite well. Off road it could do with a bit more under body clearance. Just got back from Fraser Island. Hadn't rained a while and so the sand was like powder. We were caught out a few times becoming perched with the tyres going nowhere and were winched off the second time. The problem was clearance so a good high profile all terrain tyre and a few bucks on a lift kit will solve that off road problem. Over all we are very happy with our purchase.

Versatile and comfortable 4wd
The Colorado 7 is a great 4wd for families wanting to explore. It has great power with the highest torque out of the comparable SUV 4WDs. There is plenty of space in the back unless you are using all 7 seats. We generally get 10l/100km around the city and lower on the highway. It has performed very well off road even with the standard highway tyres.
I wouldn't buy it as a city SUV, because it drives like a big 4wd. The Holden factory accessories are extremely expensive and for me are priced way out of the market. There can be significant acceleration lag in some circumstances.

Great for towing our 23 foot caravan around Australia
We purchased a new Colorado 7 last year to tow our caravan around Australia with our 2 young kids. After much research of all the 7 seaters, we found this vehicle to be the best value for money with 5 years warranty, 5 years road side assist, 3 years or 60,000km free servicing all included in our driveaway price. We also received window tinting, an ARB air compressor under passenger seat, roof racks, tow bar, bonnet protector and floor mats throughout for a smidge under $50K.
We've now done just over 50,000kms, 50% of which was towing the va...Read more

I DON'T GET THE COMPLAINTS
Mine's a work lease vehicle. I've had it for two years and 70000Km and the thing has never missed a beat. It's been on the beach, has done some "medium" 4WD work, long distance towing and it's usual job as a family tour bus. Other than the turning circle making car parking in shops a bit tricky it's great. Fuel economy is usually under 10L /100Km. For a truck, it's a comfy ride. Service from the local dealer is A1. The lease expires in a year and I'll be going Colorado 7 again!

Number plates in river crossings
Has anyone else had this problem? Our organisation runs three Colorados and in river crossings (which we must do) we have now lost two number plates and have come close to losing three - the third one was bent up which explains why the first two were lost - the thread was stripped out. With no frame for the number plate the attachment relies on only two screws. Gets very expensive to replace.

Entire sales team complain about this car.
I work for a big company. Our sales reps drive Colorados. All of them have had minor to major issues at one stage. They are terribly uncomfortable and unreliable. Smoke from the engine, oil leaks, two engine replacements, blown hoses. Unbelievable that cars manufactured in the year 2013 are subject to this number of problems.
The car is a complete lemon.

Great vehicle for the money.
I would have given it 5 stars but have had two small issues - leather drivers seat and boot latch needed replacing. That said after sales service has been A1 and they fixed both issues in the 9 month service (well had to order seat as I only noticed rubbing when dropping off vehicle but communication was great). Used for towing both on-road and off road with upto 2t with only issue being I forget the trailer is there when on road. I would buy another tomorrow.

Unexpected
I bought a Colorado 7 after having a Nissan Patrol that done 400,000k and looked at its rival. For the price this vehicle has ticked all the boxes.......Without the van the best per 100km has been 7.1 LTRS.......and with the Van which is 2.5t, its done 12.5 ltr's......Oh !!!! what a beauty..........

Very Capable 4x4 and great on diesel
I have owned & driven Nissan patrols, Mitsubishi Pajero's and Toyotas. Which in my opinion are all great 4x4s. But it came time to buy a new 4x4 for myself. I looked at all 3 and compared the price, pros & cons then looked at the Holden Colorado 7 it was totally on the "mark".
We now have 8000 klms of travel invested the Colorado 7 MY15 LTZ. How does it compare? Well yes it's more basic than what I compared it with, it doesn't have the same features list as the other brands, but I saved roughly $10-$15k for a lot of features I wouldn't use....Read more
And I couldn't be happier. It hasn't missed a beat. We've towed my mates 23 foot caravan and our 13x6 tandem car trailer with no problems at all the engine just gets down and pulls, the only thing I might suggest if you're doing a lot of heavy towing upgrade the coil springs, I had it booked in the day after I bought it too. Have a dobinson 2 inch lift kit fitted with progressive coils front and rear, the front are rated 50-100kg continuous load & the rear are 100-300kg continuous load, with the kit installed I achieved a full 50mm lift in the rear and 47.5mm in the front. I've also fitted a ironman commercial bullbar, ironman 12000 pound monster winch, factory snorkel, bushskinz bash plates, and Bridgestone A/T D697 all terrain tyres. We've used the 4WD a few times down on the river and on a few outback tracks around Cloncurry & Mt Isa and it didn't look like stopping, like a pig in mud as they say! Been averaging about 8-10 litres per 100klms really depends on how you drive and where. Overall I'm one happy camper and would highly recommend the Colorado 7! The only complaint I have is the so called navigation system and the fact you need to download bringo needless to say it's only free for 30 days then you are required to buy it for $59.95 the price wouldn't bug me so much if it worked properly ! But it doesn't multiple times it hasn't been able to find roads or destinations, it has frozen about 6 times and the tts volume is way to low even when you've turned it up to 42! Come on Holden if the Isuzu mux can offer integrated gps with onboard maps for similar price and it is essential a fraternal twin so to speak then you could offer a solution that just works.Purchased in April 2021 at Holden Dealers for $52,798.00.

Serious problem with air intake hose
Bought brand new Colorado 7 LTZ in March (20/03) this year. As of 13/09/15, the air intake hose has blown off THREE times. The second time was in May, had the whole hose replaced. Thought the problem was solved. Nope, happened again. Can happen just while driving along the highway, don't need to be towing my horse float. Currently in discussions with Holden about what to do with this vehicle, because basically, I don't want it back. Way too unreliable, this one is a lemon. Who needs to call Holden Road Assist three times within six months of buying a brand new car? So far I've been lucky, all three breakdowns have occurred within about 25km of home. Not game to take this vehicle too far afield!

Colorado 7 MY14 LT
Great off road no problems so far with 30,000km. Fuel economy great for such a large vehicle 9-10km/100km around town.
Great towing vehicle, I used it to tow a 3 tonne boat and it did it with no problems. Great third row of seats with room enough that my 5ft 10 son chooses to sit there. It is continuously used as the skippers bus when we go for a night out. Have had this fully loaded with 6 people in the car completely stock doing a track that is normally seen as extreme and only got it stuck once in deep mud ruts as it got stuck on rear diff.

Minor problem otherwise a very nice vehicle
I own a 2015 Holden Colorado auto 4x4 dual cab. I bought the vehicle to tow our 23'6" full caravan. I noticed that on hooking up the van the clearance lights flicked on & off every 3 seconds. I spoke to Holden service at Smith's Holden in Geelong. The service personnel found a bulletin from GM stating that a minor fault is in the bulb management unit or similar. The Colorado (I have the poverty pack) has a computer or two and one feature is, the vehicle will tell you if there are "Bulbs" not functioning such as tail light out or brake l...Read more
ight not working this "bulb monitor" affects LED lights as it pulses (a signal ) to check if the bulbs are all working. I believe a condensor/restrictor is fitted which eliminates the problem. Excellent service from Smith's Holden in Geelong phone calls as to how they found the fault what they did to fix it and advised me when the vehicle was ready to be collected.Purchased in July 2021.

16 days old and already broken down, Holden Customer Care a joke!
Was very eXcited to pick up my brand spanking new Colarado 7 LTZ 16 days ago and set off w my 2t caravan for a 3wk holiday......Day 2 which was Fri arvo was a Big Bang and cloud of black smoke at 90km/h, pulled over immediately, air intake hose had blown off/emission control system warning light on. Holden Sale Vic refused to look at it til Mon, and Holden Customer Care wouldn't even offer me a hire car, outrageous! my dealer at Ulladulla has promised to pay out of pocket costs for a hire car but am feeling like I've bought a big fat lemon, my holiday plans now completely stuffed also.......deeply underwhelmed thus far!

Interesting to note that whilst my dealer offered last May to cover hire costs, I am still waiting on that payment...........
