Hi! I have a Holden Berlina VY 2004 and the indicators are not working anymore and aren't showing up on the dashboard. I was wondering how do I fix it without going to a mechanic?

Only thing you could try first would be the fuses. There may be a fuse marked "indicators" inside the box on the driver's side of the engine bay if I recall correctly.
If you don't have any luck then go to an auto electrician.
Flasher unit maybe.
That seems like the problem is the wiring in the steering column however, your best option is to take the car to a auto electrician shop such as ultratune or kmart tyres and auto or the ford Australia workshop or like the other answer stated you could try the fuses first

i have a problem with petrol blow back while i'm filling the tank. Is this a common fault? This vehicle is the 2004.

That doesn't sound right if the motor is off - possibly it's time to take the car to a Holden Australia workshop or perhaps a mechanical repairs and servicing workshop might be able to help

I am about to buy a vy Calais . I was wondering if there is any reason why I shouldn't purchase it and if there are any major problems with that model?

The VY is a great model, my son and daughter each have them but like anything else you will need to check the service records and make sure they are serviced regularly and correctly using the correct fluids, also these days all cars have plastic parts in their cooling systems, the VY is no exception, they are getting a bit long in the tooth so if it has the original radiator and heater tap you may consider changing these as well as all hoses and the thermostat too. Replenish the cooling system with genuine Holden coolant and if you change the radiator the genuine Calsonic is the one to get. Make sure there is NO RUST evident in the cooling system and NO SLUDGE in the engine. If it has done 250,000 kilometres or more also change the water pump and all the idler and tensioner pulleys. Also as a precaution you may want to change the fuel pump and filter, fuel pumps last approximately 250K's these days no matter what the manufacturer ! Use genuine or VDO . Check the trans oil, nobody seems to service them. Service the trans with Castrol Transmax Z and a genuine filter every 40,000K also the diff oil would need changing use Penrite 80W140 synthetic. Check the colour of the brake fluid, should be the colour of white wine, change and flush the system anyway. Power steering will also need a flush, use the Transmax Z again. The ignition locks and steering wheel mounted radio controls can also give problems but the parts are cheap and the car is easy to work on, just try to find one with genuinely low K's, they are still around !
Sounds a lot but if you can do the work yourself it can be very cost effective, after which the car should be good for many, many more reliable K's, cheap motoring really compared to others ! Good luck !

Hi I have 04 vy ss 6sp manual ute and had engine fault come on and had reload beside it I had dvd player going heater was on low and had hawk detector going would it mean that I have to much power draining or would you please tell me what it means? would be greatly appreciated

With the information supplied I will do my best. I take it that the reload message comes up on your DVD or the multi info display on the dash ? Have you been able to get a scan tool onto your car and check if the ECM has logged any codes ? It may be that your alternator is not charging correctly, check the output of the alternator and also check the body of the alternator itself as sometimes the power steering on the SS LS1 V8 can leak into the alternator causing it to fail .

my holden Calais 2002 is not starting unless I turn the key around a few times it's so weird. It's like a flat battery but lights are on andwindows work. First time I've had trouble.

could it be the starter motor on its way out?
Or it could the central processing unit whichever problems it is it is probably better to take the car to a Holden Australia workshop or a trustworthy honest and reliable auto electrician shop to fix the problems while you have the chance.
Or like the other answer stated it could be also the starter motor / tell you how to tell if it's the starter motor is buggered without going to a professional @ just tap the starter motor with a spanner and if that helps it's definitely the starter motor
