Do it, you won't look back. A totally underrated car.

Hi Ronnie,
I have a 2016 it's done 31,000kms and I'm ready to be done with it. A list of issues I've had so far, Engine stalling coming out of reverse and when idling at lights, heavy shuddering and bunny hopping on take off (it's an auto), doesn't change gears properly, so often sits in too high or to low a gear. Sound system completely frozen and unusable, maps don't work after paying $85 for them. Car has issues unlocking, pushing the unlock on the fob the lights and indicators flash but doors don't unlock, Fail to start - this has happened about 8 times they have checked the battery and cannot find a reason and last but not least it has faulty Takata airbags and I am yet to receive a notice from Holden, as they will send one when they have parts, its been 5 months. My car has always been serviced on time and is under the average kms for age (it is driven 6 days a week).

Trax TJ (2013-2020)

I have owned my Trax for one year now and its been at Holden Robina for 7 weeks and they cant figure out how to fix in. In the process they have created 3 other issues. Engine light on and the car shakes when driving and rattles. and the steering locked up and turns like im towing a caravan. Has anyone else had issues like this? Is it the car or the people working on the car??

I think I'd be taking it to another Holden dealership to be looked at. If the one your going to can't fix it maybe another dealership can.

Try another dealer. Mine's now got 83,000k's on the clock with no issues.

I'm glad I'm not the only one having problems!
As soon as my 2016 Trax LTZ Turbo hit 15,00kms, the Turbo "malfunctioned" due to a "manufacturers fault"! That was 11 June 2017, and I have tried to pick it up 4 times and each time I either don't get it out of the dealership/service centre drive way or within a couple of kms and it starts blowing smoke and stalling like it did in the first place! It's been an absolutely appalling experience!
By the way this has been through two Holden Service Centres!

Timing belt If your going to replace it I suggest buying parts online and getting Holden to do it. and when you buy the belt, buy the kit that comes with the water pump it about $260.

I have had my car serviced 45000 today and told thermostat needs replacing? No indication why and car is Roadworthy really? Code 89 remains on screen until thermostat is changed. And windscreen wipes need replacing, but had checked by another Holden garage who said there is nothing wrong with them?

I had the exact same issue.Guess it is a problem with this engne.Same engine as the Cruze(my 1.8 anyway)and that has the same issue and is the motors only real weak point...so far.It happened earlier for me though as we have just hit the 45000km mark. Also the cooling fan will kick in for longer and more frequently to keep engine cool.It needs to be replaced ASAP if not done already as is a vital component. Wipers are a common add on for any dealer to make $$.You would know when using them if they are ok or not.

had same problem I suggest buying the wiper blades online and replacing them yourself pretty easy. they clip on not slide on.

No.Maybe there is a service point there somewhere but it needs to be left as it was on return to you.Sounds like sloppy work maybe.Get them to fix.

Looking seriously at purchasing a trax however have just been informed by an RACQ patrol man to think otherwise. Claims it is one of their more popular models for breakdowns even when still quite new and low in k's. Has anyone experienced problems mechanically with their trax?

Hi
The boot space is really limited I used to drive a Ford Focus and the boot had way more space.
I'm flat out trying to fit in weekly shopping
I hope that helps

The car is great on petrol. Very limited boot space. I had mechanical trouble on the 1 year mark lucky it was covered by warranty.
It seems all good now.
I do like the car. Nice to drive

Has anyone ever towed with a Trax?

Hi Mel,
I purchased a Trax a year ago. Brought the LTZ model. I think its a very good car. WE only have covered some 6000k. I am a bit of a car tech and I think the LTZ is better than the 1.8L standard Trax, then again its a lot dearer. Only comment is cargo space is somewhat limited unless you fold down the rear seats.

Good luck if you are buying one. Enjoy the experiance

Yes, I have towed both dual and single axle trailers with our Trax without issue. Loads haven't been much more than 500KG's at a time and I found that using manual shift mode was best for uphill climbs as the auto will take a while to kick down a gear.

Dont buy one of these, there are far better options out there, do a little research.

Try a Suzuki Grand Vitara!!!

Other SUVs cost a lot more money. If you have $40,000 then sure, buy a Suzuki or Suburu. If you can only spend under $30,000 then the Trax is a good option.
