I purchased a new 2017 TRAX LT model about 6 months ago, and so far have been happy with its performance. just seems that the tyres are noisey. I do run at 36 psi.
Has anybody tried alternatives to the supplied Continental brand tyres ?
I had Handkook tyres on my previous car (Holden Captiva) and they were just great.

Yep i changed to Kuhmo road Venture.Never did like Continentals.Car maufacturers will try to save a dollar anywhere..and that includes tyres.I could recommemd Toyo's as well...but.not Bridgestone.Just from my personal experience.

not sure what you mean by so much.Every 15000km is Holden schedule.which is perfectly normal.Might as well considering cost is not a great deal different compared to other mechanics..which do not really have access to Holden diagnostics etc.Even if slighty more expensive still woth it.Consider when you trade to said Holden dealership or go to privately sell and all services stamped in service book done ny Holden. Also even out of warranty with such low km Holden will surely look after you with issues that may arise.

We've had a 2017 Trax LT since Nov 2017. Great car! Recently the volume on sound system seems 'limited' when I play my iPod via Bluetooth. I've adjusted the auto volume on system and the volume on my iPod but to no avail. It does the same on radio too. It seems it's now set a max volume and I can't go any louder. I have been able to choose a louder volume prior to this happening about three weeks ago. Anyone experienced this issue?

Whoa. I have to cast my mind back. I think we took it to the dealer who couldn't find any way to fix it. From memory it corrected itself about two weeks later. Sorry, my memory is a little vague.

Does anyone of you experience car fumes coming inside Holden trax turbo even though the internal circulation nub is on.

I experience this issue with the brand new car and the Holden service said that this is normal with all the Holden trax turbo.

they said it is the design. They said the cannot do anything about it.

sorry, i should have further explained that it shudders/vibrates when idling or from starting car after being left overnight,so it's an engine malfunction.

Violet

Hi Kathleen, I have the same issues (2016 model) and they have told me I just need to "warm it up" even though it will be running for 5-6 minutes before I try to drive it. I recommend pushing your dealership if it is still under warranty or taking it elsewhere for a second opinion. I will be taking my car back to the dealership in a week (for the 3rd time) as it is stalling constantly at take off and becoming dangerous.

I have a 2015 mid grey colour Trax which ran out of warranty November 2017, I noticed 4 or 5 weeks ago that the plastic trim on the top of the hatch has lost it's gloss. Since then I have seen 3 other Trax's two of which have also lost the gloss like mine. Is this a common problem with that colour and why has it happened? No other colours have gone like it. I have seen a Hyundai ix35 with a fairly similar colour that has done the same. Other than that it is a fantastic car in which I have done 90.000 ks. Mine is an LTZ with the 1.4 turbo.

Hi I recently brought a 2016 Holden Trax, is it normal for the Parker lights to be on during the day when I drive, the light switch is on Auto and I can’t turn the switch to off it just won’t stay on off. Please Help

1 answer
Jesse Milani
Jesse Milani

Hey Sarah the lights are meant to be on as they are daytime driving lights as you see on other cars which are normally a LED strip of lights.
In regards to the switch once you do turn the knob to the off position it will turn the lights off but it is a spring loaded knob that is set to sit at auto

hey I have a 2016 Holden Trax Active manual 6 speed, had it since new but now I have this knock that is coming from the passenger side of the engine bay but its not actually in the engine & unsure if it is the engine mount or transmission mount as you can only hear the knock when brake suddenly or down shift to quick? I have had a look in the engine bay & can't really see if the engine mounts are gone but I'm certain its not to do with the suspension

2 answers
Shell F
Shell F

You will need to replace the front struts as I had the same problem and once I did that the knocking has stopped it's the strut caps they have worn out but you can't replace just the strut caps so u have to replace the whole strut assembly better to do both sides or it will cause problems.

It does it to help cool the engine down after a long period of driving so no not a problem.

I'm thinking about buying a used 2015 Holden Trax LS MY15 manual 1.8L model from a dealer for my first car. I travel about 15 000km a year for my work which is why I'm attracted to the low km's but it is still within my price range. It is $15900 and done 24 000km. Comes with 5 months new car warranty left, 5 months re go, stamp duty and re go transfer included in the price. Not sure if it's too good to be true. Has anyone had any issues with the Holden Trax? Like the radiator, electronics, the engine or other things? Have been asking a few mechanics, a lot haven't really had a lot to do with them. Would prefer to hear from people who have owned it for a while, not if it's only been owned for a couple months if possible. Thank you

Hi Beth.

identical car/year/situation as myself.Only issue was a crank sensor and thermostat replaced.Car has done 61000km.Bought for $18000 drive away with 1500km.No issues since.Dont let them off the hook though if these present themselves after warranty.Ask service staff(no dealer/salesman)what problems common to car amd how far they will stretch goos will,or got to Aus webiste. There are no recalls for this car.Negotiate a better price as this price is normal for km and year. You should get better deal as noone buys manuals and they harder to sell.If no good reduction leave it.Good car for us.

Yesterday the tv screen on my 2014 Holden Trax went blank. The indicators still worked, but no sound. It has been hesitating when starting up as well. So I went to Supercheap & bought a new battery as one cell was out & the battery was the original one...
So I start up the car & all is working again...
A bit later in the day I turn the aircon & fan on, and NOTHING. No air con, no fan working...
This is getting very frustrating...
When the guy put the battery in he put a device on the inside of the car. Something to do with codes (i have no idea what that's for). Could that have done something....
Any advice would be greatly appreciated...

No this is only to stop your stereo from ceasing due to them having a security code. Car makers invented this to stop people from stealing car stereos so by losing power, the radio would require a code to unlock it again. This is likely to do with the car itself but get a battery check done at your next service to make sure the battery isn't weak. Some super cheap auto batteries sit flat on the shelf for ages and are smug about you needing to charge it after you buy it

Ditron

Thanks for the reply. It ended up being a burnt out sensor in the fan. A couple of hundred bucks later & all's well. Hard to believe a car that's only 3yrs old would do that....ggrrrr. not happy...

Hi Cyn, I don't have this problem with my 2017 Trax LTZ. Sometimes when I have the heater on it gets too warm but not when the heater is off. Sorry I couldn't help.

brian

That seems unusual and Dante. Since you've indicated you've already took the vehicle to a holden australia service centre workshop and they couldn't find the problem. I would recommend to take the vehicle to a independent mechanical repairs and servicing workshop and see if one of their mechanics can find the fault of the overheating but, what doesn't make sense is that the metal should insulate so my guess would be that you've most likely ran over something and damaged the connection between the gearbox or you could try a radiator specialist to see if if a inlet or oulet valve or sometimes the electrics cause troubles in which case a reasonable auto electrician workshop may be able to help.

brian
brian

Or are you referring to inside the vehicles cabin and the actual pedals is getting hot - if so then perhaps the holden employees may be actually correct but, also, remember : always use good quality and confortable shoes when driving

My wife has had one for 6 months and still likes it. Comfy to drive, easy to park because it is short, yet still feels quite big inside as the roof is high. The simple old school engine looks more reliable than the direct injection petrols and the turbo engines, plus any workshop can service it.

I've had my Holden tray for 2 1/2 years and I've had it in shop for repairs few times I brought mine with 3500 on clock great car at first but be warned take out extra insurance for maintenance I've now got paint literally peeling from under my back window when I approach them about it they said it wasn't the mana factory fault that a stone or even prior accident could have caused it and now I'm reasonably for getting repaired not happy at all I will never by another car that has any type of mileage on the clock cause you're got no back up when it comes to problems with the car..I very disappointed in Holden Phoenix as they just didn't really want to know and was really quick to pass the buck onto everything else apart from it's a paint fault..be very very careful that's my advice..
