No you can't, but you will be able to get a Honda engine mounted on a different brand mower.
I would recommend that you go straight to a Honda Power Equipment store.

Hi there,

When checking the oil on a Honda HRU19R do you screw the dipstick all the way home to get a measurement or do you just insert it to the start of the threaded part?
Thanks
Andrew

Andrew,
The dealer told me that to make sure the engine is on flat ground and the oil should be up to the internal threads. That's how I check the oil.

I only go to the thread and change the oil when it goes a darker colour

The cord wouldnt retract to start off with I fixed that and made sure it wound back in neatly. Now the cord wont pull out all the only a fraction when I put the cover back on . Something is stopping it. When I take the cover off to inspect it wounds in and out fine

What should you do if the two blades come loose and start tilting at an angle? The bolts don't seem to be engineered to stop this tilting.

Hi Chindoly - I checked my lawn mower over the weekend and mine doesn't seem to be having this issue. I bought my Honda at an authorised Honda retailer and had my extra 2 blades installed by them at the time of purchase, so if I was experiencing this problem I would go back to them to rectify. I hope this helps.

The blades are purposely designed to swing back when they strike a hard object. They do this to save your blades and crankshaft. The blade swings straight when engine is engaged due to constant gravity

Jeremy.jeraki, don't you mean "centrifugal force" causes the blades to straighten when the engine is running?

Sorry, I have no idea. Best to ask a Honda Mower person, but you would think the mounting would be the same.

If the mounting bolts line up maybe, not sure of the disc plate.

James H.Honda

Hi 007 Jenno3,
Thanks for your question.
Unfortuantly the bolt pattern is different - the GXV160 will only match up with 2 of the 4 bolt holes.
Best to order replacement parts for GCV160 engine - if its salvageable.
If youhave any further questions or queries please do not hesitate to contact [email protected]
Many thanks,
Sarah

It should only have 2 blades. You can apparently get 2 additional blades installed, but I don't think you need them.

4 work allot better. I had two and went to 4.

You need 4, and an increase in engine speed to reap the benefits. It transforms this mower!!

how do I change the oil?

1 answer
ilona29
ilona29

1.Turn fuel valve off. Drain oil while engine is warm.
2. Wipe oil filler area clean and remove cap.
3. Place container next to mower to catch used oil. Tilt mower on its right side. Oil spout on bottom fuel tank up top. Used oil drains from the filler neck. Drain all.
4. Fill with recommended oil. Do not overfill. Engine oil capacity 0.65 litre for GXV160 and 0.55litre for GSV190/GCV160
5. After changing oil and before starting check oil level with dip stick. Upper level of dip stick is good. Screw in dip stick.
6. Sae 10w- 30 4 stroke oil. Always check the API service label on the oil container to be sure it includes the letters SG or higher ( or equivalent)

Hi Justonemore,

We do not recommend modifying your original HRU19 Lawnmower unless there is a specific Accessory for this model. It is best to talk to your local Honda dealership to see if there is a kit available, Cheers

What is the engine CC?

1 answer
Honda
James H.Honda

Hi Bhupen, Dylan from Honda Australia here. As a Marketing guy that question is a little out of my reach, but I just spoke to our Service Technician who informs me that the engine cc on the Buffalo Buck is 160. The older version (pre-2011) used to be 163cc, so depending on how new your model is, that's what will be powering you. It's a GCV160 engine. For all the engine's other spec's (fuel consumption, oil capacity, etc, check out this website: http://powerequipment.honda.com.au/GC_Engines/GC160
