Be careful.
I was very happy with my 2013 Honda Civic HATCH, fuel economy was good, a little down in power compared to my previous car. Then someone ran into the back of it. We were asked by the repairers to come and inspect the car with the rear panels removed as they were simply amazed at the complete lack of quality control during manufacture to the point that even my insurance company will no longer repair that part of my car if it is damaged again. Honda have even sent us a statement that it was manufactured in that condition. Even rusted parts at 5 m...Read more
onths old (only had 5.000km on the clock). I did request that Honda replace my car with a vehicle that was up to my expectations of not only a new car, but of Honda quality. I was, of course, dreaming. My dealer is now paying for my car to have the rust repaired and panels re-aligned. On a more serious note, what is the rest of the car going to be like? If they can't silicone a couple of panels together successfully, I'm not going to give them much credit mechanically. I can get better quality in a Kia or a Hyundai. Extremely disappointed. Sadly, not the car they once were.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great car - shame about the brakes!
This is our third Honda and the other two were the reason I bought it. While it is great to drive, handles well, fuel consumption is okay there is a major flaw. I have just had the 40,000km service and been told that I need to replace the brakes. Their warranty manual states clearly that the pads are excluded, but when I called to ask I was told the words brake pads is taken to mean the entire brake system. It has now decided my husband who was about buy one - we simply cannot buy another car that will need brakes replaced this often. They are refusing to assist me at all and do not accept that to say 'pads' when they mean 'brakes' is misleading and deceptive.

Great car bad service
Sales man at Honda prestige bluff me into viewing a car into a purchase. The finance team did not help either as she knew I asked I wasn't purchasing the car yet but the gm black mailed me saying I had viewed the car and forced me to terminate my contract resulting in financial lost to my end. I bought the car in the end later to reclaim my lost.
Honda Australia did absolutely nothing and allowed deceptive conduct run by the former gm. Thank god he has left this dealership and went over to subra as the serve improved a thousand fold.

car is excellent, runs light on petrol at 6.7l. Cap servicing came in after I purchased the car which is still something as Mazda is still not cap servicing. The car now is even better with reverse camera for easy parking. Very futuristic The people who served me were horrid, gm and sales man lied.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

What a car!
The Civic Hatch is a great car and in my view a bit of a hidden gem. Having considered numerous cars in this class, I've been most impressed by the interior quality, interior design, exterior looks and even the price. Having said that, a VERY important factor has been. Reliability, something that many people seem to be ignorant about, or prefer not to investigate when assessing prospective vehicles. Whilst the Golf would have been a great choice, I am not under any disillusions about their reliability, or rather their lack of it. Recent issues ...Read more
in the press around VW reliability simply confirmed my personal experience with the brand (I've owned 5 VW's before and promised myself not to go there ever again. I nearly did, but thankfully I came to my senses). The Civic should give me at least 10 years before anything in the slightest might go wrong, and even then it should be just that... Slight. The ride is somewhat firm, but handling is relatively good. The magic seats are great as I know since having owned a Jazz before amongst 3 other Honda's. The boot capacity is best in class. Why not 5 stars? All-round visibility is poor, but I am happy with the trade-offs (i.e. good aerodynamics, looks, reversing camera, etc.). Also, the gearbox has a slight clunking sound when reversing, stopping and then changing into fwd. gear. This is however not a reliability issue and is somewhat of a Honda trademark in some models it seems. My 11-year old CRV has done the same since I bought it 2nd-hand a number of years ago and no drama as yet. $28k AUD in WA (2014 MY). Interior quality & design, exterior looks, uniqueness (it's not a Corolla), great Bluetooth phone system, quiet on the road, general refinement, very comfy seats (front), cockpit dashboard (go see it) Poor all-round visibility and "clunky" gearbox when changing gear (reverse to fwd)2 comments

A great everyday car :)
Bought this car recently and absolutely loving it. It's not that powerful but very good in fuel consumption and reliable. Drives so smooth!! If you want a very comfortable and reliable car for long run I would definitely recommend this hybrid version. It drives really well and at the same time you can save $$.

Reliable vehicle
Recently retired and was looking for a new car. Checked out a number of vehicles Hyundai i30, Toyota, etc. Found the Honda Civic sedan more compact and more space. In sixteen months have only travelled 15000k, servicing is bit expensive, however it is best to shop around from dealer to dealer. Overall I have been quite happy with the performance no complaints.
Reliable
Servicing a bit expansive

Good car but
I bought one of these cars brand new. It's a very good car reliable and very smooth and enough space inside. Major problem I have with this car is soft suspension, as a result car bottoms out easily. My Civic scrape the underside of the car when driving around in Sydney. It has happened so many times I have not decided to check what damage is down there.
Reliable and smooth
Car is too low and the bottom always scrapes driving around in Sydney
1 comment
It shouldn't be doing that, Shane. Either your tyre-pressures are too low or, more likely, you have damaged the suspension. Get your shock absorbers checked.

Great car
I bought a brand new 2013 Civic sedan. Before this I had a used Civic 2009. My current car now has 21'000. Never had a problem with either of them! I absolutely love it. Super comfortable seats. Great safety and overall comfort are essential to me since I commute over 100 km/day. Drove it from Brisbane to Sydney and back - great in the city and on the highway, but can also take less developed roads easily (I wouldn't drive on dirt roads when it's raining, though. can stuck easily). Fuel efficiency is very good too (5l/100km on highway, 8 in the...Read more
city). Enough room for the two of us and our two dogs. Less comfortable if you are trying to sit three adults in the back seat. Ok to make it to the airport and back, but not as fun on long drives. Customer service at Northside Honda is impeccable, both pre- and post-sale. Only two things to keep in mind in my opinion: nose is a bit low, so be careful when driving on non-city roads or parking off-road. Service every 10'000 km, and is a bit more expensive than some other brands (around $200-250). Safety, comfort, reliability, fuel efficiency, looks, service. Nothing, really. Just took me a couple of scrapes to remember that the front bumper is quite low and need to keep it in mind.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Great Price and nice build vehicel
After more than 1 month of owning the brand new vehicle Honda Civic hatch 2013 VTi-S. You can tell that the new Civic hatch built specifically for family purpose. Honda has made the Civic hatch to be a styling small/medium family car which suit most of the people in these days. You will be impressed by it's low fuel consumption with a 1.8L petrol engine. The problem I am struggling is the remote closing windows. You can easily use the remote control to open the window but for the standard model of civic hatch, you won't be able to use remote to...Read more
close the windows. Moreover, there is a big problem with the black painting in my option, the car can get scratch easily with it's bad quality painting. Overall, This car is well built with low fuel consumption and nice features such as Bluetooth and parking camera (Rear). Oh, you should also look at the magic seat design which provide more boot space and different solution for you to carry different goods. Great soft touch material for interior. Large boot. Low fuel consumption. Comfortable seat, good looking interior and exterior. Day Light Running light, reverse camera comes as standard. Bad Painting quality. Engine lack of power, no remote close windows for standard model.1 comment
Reason paint is bad on a honda is they use a water based paint for environmental reasons.
End result is paint is very soft, can get scratched easily, you need to know how to clean a car properly or you will ruin the paint faster.... Read more
Swirls are an issue on a dark car as they are easily seen. As for engine power, i have the last gen model and i find the engine is good with power(it has 140hp) I would suggest you turn off econ mode if you need the extra power and if using an auto put the car in S and use the paddle shifters and drop it down a few cogs.\ I am a car enthusiast that loves hondas.Similar opinion? An excellent buy
Just purchased a brand new 9th generation Civic hatch - the top of the range VTI-LN. It is auto only but comes with just about everything including leather heated seats, sat nav, bluetooth audio streaming and reversing camera. Really enjoying driving it and think it represents excellent value for money. Looks great from all angles, build quality is right up there and definitely has an overall 'wow' factor.
Great looking car, very quiet and refined drive loaded with features that takes the boring out of the daily drive. Not very quick off the ma...Read more

The pictured vehicle is not accurate as this review related to the VTI-LN hatchback - not the sedan pictured which is also an outdated model.

brated for cold climate which puts softer disc rotors on and a greater bias toward rear braking. End result is $800 for a set of rear pads and rotors (if you get Honda to do it) or about $300 for far better aftermarkets. The fronts will also be about the same as they only lasted 3 months longer - all this happened around 30,000km most of which is easy semi-rural driving so not hard on brakes at all. The drivers airbag warning came on at 3 months old and was replaced under warranty. However the steering column rattled after the replacement and took 2 more trips to the dealer to fix. Now there is a rattle somewhere in the dash - guess what. Not warranty according to the dealer - rattles and squeaks are excluded after 'a certain time' which no one can define for me. Although they are a pleasant and practical car to drive (I stand by my original comments) run a mile. The car might be OK but the Honda Australia 'backup' is a joke. We almost bought a Honda Jazz not long ago but went with the Mazda 2 after the whole brake nonsense and haven't looked back.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Civic is amazing
I bought a Honda Civic 2013 (GEN 9) in December 2012 from Larke Hoskins. I was impressed by the way Lark Hoskins welcomed me and serviced me. They had even put a teddy bear in the car for me!
The Honda is super powerful. It's very responsive even though it's got manual transmission. Even when I push the ECON mode (and so the engine slows down) it's very powerful and accelerates perfectly. The design of the dashboard is similar to a spacecraft's! Perfect bluetooth, iPod (and iPhone) connectivity. Excellent interior design and fabric. The exteri...Read more

I've just bought a 2013 Civic VTiS hatch and find the radio will often change from the station it started on to some other station, it's really annoying, anyone else find this or know the cause? Thanks!

I have the exact same issue with my 2014 Civic Hatch VTi and this was reported to Eastern Honda Doncaster (AUS) who told me that I needed to have the Traffic Announcement (TA / RD) settings on / off. I had already tried this before then, and needless to say it had no bearing on the matter. In the six months to date, the problem has become worse and now the radio hardly sits on a station for longer than a few mins before changing to another station. I have booked my car in for a service next week and asked them to have a look at it, and again am being told it's probably the RD / TA settings, which I have trouble believing. I have had many cars in the past (incl. Hondas) and driven many rental cars too, and never come across such problems with the radio!!
Hi, my dealer Collins Honda said the same when I checked it in for a service and so they turned off TA/RD and it worked for me, apparently it's only used in the UK as that's where the hatchbacks are built, good luck. Also had a problem with rear seat belt indicator coming on even when no one was in the back, or anything at all, so they reset the chip, was ok for a while but it still happens.

sily buy another. Two other very reliable cars under my command were Fords, a re-badged Mazda 323 and a Fiesta 1.4. These are also very reliable but lack the overall quality in materials and craftsmanship. The Honda really is a superior product.
