Bullet Proof

published

Have put my Honda HRE370 through hell for several years, no mower deserves such treatment. Today while mowing thick damp couch on a low setting, the thermal cutout kicked in.

Purchased in March 2021.

My first mower

published

So this mower is my first mower. I've never had an electric one. I've got probably a backyard that's maybe 100-150sqm of lawn.

Pros:
- quiet
- easy operation

Cons:
- kind of hard to maneuver
- when the mower gets full it stops, so you'll need to empty the catcher but also need to go under the mower and remove some clippings so that the mower will restart and continue again

Overall I don't mind it and quite like it. Seems like it's a great little nifty mower and I did buy electric because I want to make use of my solar panels so win win.

suits small lawns

published

I have used mine for 9 years now

the blade is prone to hacking but fixed by sharpening the blades, not suitable for heavy duty lawns
had to have it serviced once,
wheels fall off often but easily fixed
trails a cord but you get used to it, ran over a cord once and shredded it

I am still happy with it
- it still works well.
not suitable for heavy duty lawns

This little number is still going strong without any faults. It may be that the only way I can update it is to deliberately break it.

This unit is still cutting small and medium sized lawns without fail. I think I have gotten my moneys worth now after 16 years of use.

Terrible

published

It seems to hack the grass rather than cust properly through it, likely due to a lack of power from the small electric motor. The grass catcher is poor and you lose most of what you cut out the sides. The wheels are dodgy and appear to come off at will. Its the cheapest mower in the Honda range mostly becasue it skimps on quality and technology.
It can mow your lawn.
It feels like a toy and works like that too, as it isnt really good at cutting your lawn. The motor often stops as it bogs down in taller grass.

Bad

Its reliable, has a 4 stroke engine so plenty of power, to tear up the lawn. Efficent, easy starting, no more pulling on cord 50 times to get it going and you give up.
Its cuts grass-Ha! Ha!
Seriously its what all lawn mowers do expect this one seems to be a bit lighter

Excellent

It's a Honda. The pros all use the the big Honda motor mowers. Other manufacturers use Honda's 4 stroke engines on their better mower models. For the cheapest mower in the Honda range it doesn't skimp on quality or innovation.
Best electric mower on the Australian market. Quiet, reliable, cuts grass (doesn't hack it) and catcher actually works (catches not spills grass. It even just looks good. Great for a lawn that isn't big enough to warrant a motor mower (not too many of us can afford quarter acre blocks in Sydney any more).
Be nice if the catcher was bigger so you didn't have to empty it so often. Wheels can come loose and need to be checked / tighened. (The wheels adjust the cutting height.)

Exactly the same problem as that reported above by Jonathan Hehir a year ago, i.e., I quote:
"Hi my HRE370 was cutting fine then I’ve gone to start it again and it’s been dead since. Any advice welcomed" Muny Baborovsky

I have traced the problem to the on/off switch on the mower handle, replaced it with an equivalent (from an independent gardening machinery repair specialist rather than Honda), and the mower is working perfectly again. Muny B.

You sure it's not just the grass getting stuck? That can stop it very easily
