Should be called the Honda Tardis
In 2011 after much research I brought 2 Honda Jazz's for our delivery business. It is truly amazing how much stuff you can fit in a Jazz, only Dr Who's Tardis would beat it for space. To give you some perspective, last month I went looking for a replacement for the Jazz, as lease is nearly finished. I read about the Luggage Capacity Litres specs and decided to check out a brand new (bigger) Ford Focus, which should have had a lot more space according to the dimensions. When I backed up my Jazz to the local Ford Dealer and nicely ask could I t...Read more
ransfer all the luggage from the Jazz to his Focus he generously agreed to this real world example and muttered that his mum had a Jazz and absolutely loved it. To the surprise of use both, we could not transfer everything into the 'bigger' Focus! Beside having load areas similar to some hatchbacks, the car looks good, is well featured and being a Honda you can expect excellent reliability and resale. Our 2 Jazz's are driving by many different staff and all say they enjoy driving them and importantly we have never had any problems, but I must emphasis that we do methodically service them every 6 months as per Hondas recommendations, even though this can be a drag. Our local Bentleigh Honda service dealer has been very accommodating (thanks Stuart) and minor services are done in a little over an hour! Something I didn't expect when comparing small cars that the Hondas Jazz's purchase cost was similar to the 'value' king, Hyundai! Oh how times have changed. Finally, for a balanced view; the car is a bit plasticy and the 1.3 auto really struggles when asked to overtake on the highway. You can always go for the 1.5 litre motor, which I hear is much better on the open road. Does everything well and has amazing space for a little car. I love those magic seats Great in the city but the smaller motor (1.3 litre) with an auto struggles on the highwaySimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Great little car. Nice look and economy
I own an 2009 VTI-S model Yellow color for many year now and still love it everyday. Very reliable. We drove from Sydney and Brisbane and back last year and it was a pleasant trip. Very smooth on the high way and no lack of power at all. On highway, we manage 4.6L/100Km but around the city it almost double to 8.5L/100Km. I love the paddle shift in the VTS-S model as I feel like driving a manual car (not quite!). Shopped at Ikea a few times and people so supprise to see me load all my shopping boxes into it. I even carry a 2 seater sofa i...Read more

Don't waste your money!
Supposed to be top of the range but has stiff steering, Had to watch all the time, couldn't relax for a second or you'd be wandering into the next lane - drives live a brick. Ok when you get it up to speed but it sure has to work hard to look for the gears in automatic. Paintwork eats away at the slightest speck of muck - don't park near shedding trees or incontinent birds. Black side panels faded and became patchy pretty quick. Best selling point is the 'magic' seats - well versatile - you can stick a surfboard inside if you're running solo. E...Read more
conomy is good fuelwise but not overall. We bought new and sold after 14 months and 3000 kms - lost nearly $9000 - that's not economical. We say, enjoy the looks but leave it in the car yard. Certainly did, but you can't really 'test' it with a salesman sat in the front seat, and you're on an open highway with no other vehicles. City stresses started to show up the problems.

SMOOTH AS A WHISTLE
I took a vti 2012 for a test drive last year, and it blew me away, how smooth and quiet it was, the gear changes were so fine, doors opened very wide, the magic seats, and no cabin noise once driving, my wife and I were amazed, and nothing has been close to this car since
smoothness, roommy, magic seats, comfort, and refinement
expensive, plus only 3 years warrenty, and no capped price for the normal jazz yet

Great little car, met all my expectations
I've owned this little car new 1 from 2012. It is great to move around town, interior space flexibility is fantastic(better than some 'small/medium' cars) and I'm pretty happy with fuel economy(don't know the exact figures but I know im paying less than my old Mazda 3). Honda maintained the built quality since this is a Japanese sourced model and it was the only car in its class that had climate control at the time. The downside; materials used is not as high end and the power is probably lacking. I also noticed that the exterior panel don't h...Read more

Perfect city car that is also capable on long trips
We have now owned the car for 4 years and it has been flawless, apart from a slight rattle around the cargo blind that refuses to go away. The car has mostly been used for running around the city but it has also been used for trips between Sydney and Canberra and for surfing trips between Sydney and various places a few hundred km down the NSW South Coast. The interior accommodation is amazing. It has more passenger and cargo space than some much larger cars. The car has been used for moving house and hauling all sorts of things. The cargo area...Read more
holds a set of golf clubs and a motorised buggy without dropping the rear seat. It is easy for aging relatives to get in and out of and the seats are very comfortable on a long trip. It is also fun to drive - the 1.5 litre engine feels very enthusiastic without using a lot of fuel. There are no complaints about the dealer service. The things we don't like are: the engine is a bit noisy when driven hard although it is very quiet at other times; the plastics in the cargo area and on the doors are easy to scratch; the transmission likes to change into higher gears as soon as possible to save fuel, although the gear-change paddles deal with that very well when necessary. Completely reliable; the interior is spacious, versatile and comfortable; fun to drive Interior plastics scratch easily; engine a bit noisy when driven hardSimilar opinion? Very well-designed small car; excellent handling, very good fuel efficiency, ample load space.
If you want a small efficient car that uses small amounts of fuel, yet is comfortable and large enough to take two people on an extended road trip, the newer model Jazz is your ticket. I have tried all of the other "small" cars in the sub-20,000 dollar category, and the Jazz is the only one with enough load space.....the other cars in the "compact" or "small" car category are only comfortable for urban transport - they are little more than glorified shopping trollies. (The old Mitsubishi Mirage was also OK for longer trips).

ways, Jazz is remarkably frugal on fuel if it is driven conservatively, and she feels remarkably secure when negotiating bends at speed. Engine noise is much less noticeable than for many of the cheaper cars in this market segment. The interior of the cabin has a much nicer look than that of Mazda 2 and most other competitors. All in all, a sophisticated and well-designed vehicle.1 comment

Good for a town car
As a member of a car sharing program I drive a 2009 model Jazz intermittently.
I like the clever seats, and the radio system, which has decent enough sound quality, Aux input and more importantly easy and reachable controls (something I struggled with in a Nissan X Trail) that allow me to work it while driving. The seating position is too tall and slightly awkward for me (183cm tall) but it's not uncomfortable. Also, it's very fuel efficient.
I'm not expecting much equipment for a car at the price, but the one of two fusses I have is the ...Read more
lack of cruise control. Also, as a more spirited driver, I'm bothered by the lack of power. The 1.3l struggles to keep up in rush hour traffic on Victoria street (which is slightly hilly at some junctions). When I drove it to Bendigo, it was able to make 110 kmh, but it took a while to get to that speed. I would recommend getting a 1.5l, which should be better. That said, it does make a hell of a great noise. Not sure about its long term reliability, but with roughly 45,000 kms clocked on the car, nothing seems to be broken or falling out. All in all, a competent city car that gets the job done. Fuel efficient, well priced, clever seat configurations, well designed radio system 1.3l lacks power, slightly awkward seating position (for me)Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

2010 honda jazz gli is a great car but there are some functions that are not installed. there is no central lock,no reverse sensors, not enough power for 1.3 engine but it is economical to drive.i can hear the shift from low gear to high when i shift and the steering wheel is not straight when your driving in straight way.i love the magic chair, the orange light in the pannel indicator, the smoothness of the ride, the comfort of driving it..anyhow i like it.
the comfort and the economy

Great
Easy to park and drive, has loads of room in the backseat for passengers. The boot is very large for such a small sized car. Very fuel efficient, runs great on the highway and extra fuel efficient when driving distances. Lots of drink holders and storage spaces, love the information for distance left in fuel tank and average fuel used.
Reliable

A different car from the previous model, actually fun to drive, easy to live with
This car was the car Honda should have created in the first place. The fully automatic transmission has proved to be far more reliable than the CVT of the previous model. This has meant the engine now has more response especially off the line.
The interior of this model is far more classy espeically in VTI form with everything falling to hand. There are numerous storage bins and holders and the various seating configurations help make the most of the spacious interior.

ion still needs to be sorted out and is definately not class yleading. The ride exposes the suspension's limited travel and the carsmi can tend to run wide in tight corners. As usual Honda has shown why it has become such a powerhoue in small car design. Practical, safe, functional and reliable the Jazz's ancestory is clearly evident. Great on fuel, lots of space, easy to drive
We did a lot of looking around for a smaller car with bigger in-ness as we are expecting our first kid and/or somehow wanted to manage to put surfboards in the car (putting roof racks is a pain the butt).
The Jazz typically got great reviews, Honda has great reliability (provided you service them correctly, regularly and on time) and we were surprised as how roomy it is inside despite it being a smaller car.
Finishing touches are great and you can tell a huge difference between the feel of components vs. a Hyundai or Suzuki. The Honda kn...Read more
obs, switches, steering wheel, seats, etc FEEL much more solid and like they're going to last vs. the plastic and brittle feel of the other cars in the same category. Previously I've done a lot of rental cars which are either Nissan, Hyundai or Suzuki's which I felt gave me a good indicator as to how the cars interiors will wear (realising that people don't treat rentals overly well) and the Hyundai's always looked the most abused even with only 30K kms. The Jazz isn't the cheapest car in its class but I think/hope it'll live up to the Honda brand and reputation of living a long life. Small, fuel efficient, easy to drive/park, great visibility, lots of storage for such a small car, the rear fold up/flat seats are pretty useful Standard 1.3L engine is a little weak so get the larger engine size if you can afford it. The extra CCs make a world of differenceSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
OK
Generally a great about town car, for let down by the very intrusive lower dash and Honda's lack of 'gimmies'. We brought the Vti - as we felt the extra $$$$ not good value for money. Things I felt missing on a 20K car = External temp gauge, cruise, folding mirrors (as per Mitsub COLT)key less entry.
Good car for the wife as it is great around town as a small, economical runabout. Pity I cant sit in the passenger seat which means I end up driving it when the wifes not able.

a bit pricey but love the space and the fact that it is a HONDA
I was looking to get a small car given the tight budget but also wanted a car that can carry stuffs.
Jazz is no doubt the best small car in terms of space. Believe it or not, i was able to squeeze my double size mattress into the Jazz and moved home.
Jazz doesn't have enough power and I don't like its braking system. however the drive and vision on car is great overall. I like it has a big windscreen and the realiability it gives me. Good
Had this car for 2 years now and am pretty happy with it. Great car to drive, very roomy compared to others in same category. I found the brakes to be weak in an emergency situation and it doesn't come with EBD, though it wouldn't be able to activate it with such weak brakes! Wish it had sunroof option like in Japan. The "Smart" transmission occasionally takes a wrong guess and I would be driving down a slight incline in a very low gear. The A-pillar can sometimes hide from view a whole car! I have learnt to live with all this and it turns out ...Read more

Good but not great
This car is reliable and Honda provides great service (a bit expensive). It is easy to drive & fuel efficient but the this car is gutless as u would expect from a 1.3L engine. The automatic gearbox is a bit clunky and not very responsive.

Love my Jazz but wish I hadn't paid so much
Bought this as my first new car. So nice and quiet compared to my old cars. It's small and easy to park but the boot is so big I can fit whatever I need - plants, tools, a mower, pets, I swear I moved half my house in this car. The back seats fold down to create all this room, though I don't think the car would be suited to anyone overly tall. Not much leg room in the back seats, but the steering wheel is adjustable to help with the driver position.

This little car is just perfect for me. I had a honda civic before and have some opinions between these two car. Both of them are easy to drive but Jazz will be more flexible and energy-efficient. Was initially dead set on getting a Mazda 2 due to the safety rating and the Mazda having the EBD. Happened to go and have a look at a Jazz and changed my mind straight away! Does anyone know where I can find the auxiliary port on the 2008 Jazz?
1 answer
Hi Sam, I am presuming the Jazz is a GE 2nd generation Jazz and the auxiliary port in question relates to connecting an auxiliary media devise to the car. As far as I know the port is accessed by prying open the round cover on the left hand side of the dash board control panel adjacent to the cd slot. Hope this helps.

I have a 2013 model and I would like to have air vents on without the air con on but for the life of me can't seem to be able to. Any ideas?
Thanks.
2 answers
Sorry mine is a 2014 one. If yours had a digital display panel, you may find beneath the panel the control for air. An aircon sign is at the bottom corner closer to wheel side (in Australia). You can push the sign to turn it off. There are fan and other options signs separate from aircon. All the signs can be directly pushed on as using a touch screen.
Mine is the climate control and doesn't have the dials, we just bought a Yaris and we can just have the vents open on that so I know what you mean. Cheers.
