My unit fires up then almost immediately the fan runs fast and flame goes out. After a few seconds it lights again and then the fan runs fast and flame goes out. If I lower the water flow the water gets Luke walm. The unit was working fine, I ran out of gas. Replaced the cylinder and now this. I have also tried 2 different full gas cylinders

I really don't know but I wonder if some debris has entered the gas line between the changing of gas cylinder.

Hi Stephen, thanks for taking the time to leave your question. We recommend that you try the following: Turn the hot water tap that's closest to your hot water unit on full and leave it running. Once this is done, go to your unit and turn the cold water inlet off (this is usually the second valve from the left underneath your unit). Next, turn the power point to the hot water unit off and wait for around a minute. Afterwards, turn the power point to the unit back on and turn the cold water inlet back on. Check your hot water tap and if the above method does not work, please get in touch with us at 1300 30 70 37 any time from 8am to 6pm (AEDT) and we'll get you in touch with a local service agent to arrange for a service.

Have a 21e and recent failure. Seems to have water pressure, no changes there, and gas, as we thought the cylinder had run out despite it definitely hasn't.
Have reset several times.
Can hear it engage with water on, can hear the auto starter clicking and fan running, but slight hint of gas smell without the pilot seemingly firing up. The system cycles the auto starter yet doesn't stay heating. After a few cycles it pauses then goes again trying to fire up to an eventual shutdown including fan.
No remote so cannot tell a code.
Need hot water, help at all?

Your heater runs on LPG I would guess. You are not the only one to complain that the Bosch water heater stops operating after changing a gas cylinder. When you reset, did you turn the electric power off at the power point? If not then try that for an hour.

You don't say what model controller. If you have only one controller, it must be a Main Controller or Bathroom Controller. The connection points in the heater for these 2 controllers is different.

My unit turns itself on and off on a regular basis without any hot taps turned on.
What do I do to stop this s it is just wasting gas?

Like some modern appliances that involve heating, the fan unit will continue to run after the hot water is turned off. Our oven also does this. When you say the heater turns on I assume it's the cooling fan. Is it doing it for a set time after the hot water is turned off (normal) or does the cooling fan come on by itself (fault)?

Bosch Hot Water & Heating
Robert B.Bosch Hot Water & Heating

Hello Tom,

Thank you for your enquiry.

The noises you are hearing from the appliance are the water valve operating to predict the optimum position to give the best efficiency for next hot water requirement.

It is not using any gas and a very small amount of power for a few seconds.

Has anything changed recently with the household plumbing? When the hot water is turned on can you hear the gas ignite immediately or does it take time (you may have to send someone outside to listen). And how long is a long time?

I don't know how old the system is, the house is about 10 years old and I don't know the specific model no info passed on when we purchased it seems. Any suggestions?

I bought a house with with Bosch Highflow 21E . Just used for two weeks. I found the water leaks from the unit, opened the door and have a look, found water spraying from one pipe up from heat exchanger. Is this covered by warranty, how do I fix it? Thanks.

You need to contact the previous owner to determine how old the heater is. I am not familiar with the internals only that connections come from below the heater. Is the water hot or cold? Can the connection be tightened?

Bosch Hot Water & Heating
Robert B.Bosch Hot Water & Heating

Hi Jack,

Thanks for taking the time to write your question. We’d like to investigate your issue further – if you are able to find out when your unit was installed (such as through invoices or receipts from the previous owner), it would be immensely helpful in determining if the unit is still under warranty.

We’d like to get in touch with you to further assist – please send through your contact and location details to [email protected]. Please also include an image of the data sticker on your unit (this will have the model and serial number on it – it should be located on the back of your front panel) and take a photo of your hot water system, indicating which pipe the water is leaking from

Bosch Hot Water & Heating
Robert B.Bosch Hot Water & Heating

Hi Jim,

We would recommend turning your system off and on again.

To do this, you will first need to turn the cold water inlet to your hot water unit off. Once done, turn the power point to your unit off for about one minute.

Once this time has passed, turn your powerpoint to your unit back on and then turn the cold water inlet back on as well.

If this does not resolve your issue, please give us a ring at our toll-free number 1300 30 70 37 Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm (AEST) and we’ll able to further assist you.

My heater unit runs on town gas, not bottled gas. The only suggestion I have is to turn off the power to the heater and then turn it back on again after the new gas bottle is connected. Make sure the gas is turned on beforehand.

I have a BOSCH Highflow 21e. We had our gas turned off for a couple of days (for reasons), and when it was turned back on,the BOSCH wouldn't heat up. 'Have tried the reset procedure several times to no avail. The power is connected, and as far as I can tell, the gas is as well. so would there be any other way to solve this problem?

This is not a problem I have had. I can only suggest you to check that you actually have gas pressure at the heater connection. You will need a plumber for that. You could loosen a connection at the heater to check for the passing of gas and the smell but if you not familiar with the connections then it's a plumber for you.

Hi Saeed, sounds like you need a professional used to dealing with that unit.
I would start asking at the plumbing supply shop for the best tradie to sort it out.
The places that supply these units know the guys who do the instal as their trade customers.
Sorry I can,t advise any quick fix, other than to check all the connections are correct including recent work,if you are familiar with the location of hot and cold lines.
Pete.

Your plumber has done a cross connection

Plumbdinger88

You probably have an open mixer tap, most likely shower which is capped at the moment during your Reno. Go turn the tap off by pushing the stem up or
Down. Ask your plumber if your not sure. Seen this before the water
Is crossing over through the tap body.
