Honda Jazz VTI LE 2017 - More than an average car
A great car indeed. Lots of space that fits virtually everything with its magic seats. Good mileage for a city car. The media system seemed a bit aged to me, but works just fine. Reverse camera is good. A bit pricer I might say but still a decent trade, and it gives what it says. One of the best choice for someone searching for their first hatchback city car.

Good car with some great features and some extraordinary foibles.
My wife and I recently purchased a 2017 Honda Jazz. It would have to be the quietest car we have ever owned. On the highway you can carry on a conversation like you were in your living room. One might be tempted to call it "limousine-like". However, there is nothing limousine-like about the suspension, which is surprisingly firm. We bought the Vti model to get the 65 profile tyres but that hasn't been enough to get a soft ride. Fortunately, this is a problem that is less noticeable as the speed rises and I rate the Jazz as a very good highway o...Read more
r motorway car. The CVT transmission enables the motor to coast along at quite low revs, about 1500 at 60 kph, 1800 at 100 kph and 2000 at 110 kph. This contributes to excellent economy, which seems to be averaging about 6 l/100 km. However, Honda has made a big mistake with the central screen that controls the sound system. It works quite well at this job and the reversing camera is excellent. However, the new model introduced this year has had its clock disabled so that passengers have no idea of time. And I say "disabled" advisedly because the spot at the top right where the time was displayed in the previous model is vacant. Also, the settings menu has a Clock-setting position that does nothing. Honda is playing a joke on its customers and itself but it is a pretty corny joke. In summary: good car, thumpy ride at low speed, only the driver knows the time.Similar opinion? Nice little car
I've had my 2016 Jazz for around 4 months now, bought on the run-out sales. It's brilliant on fuel, (averaging between 6 & 7 litres per 100kms) and for someone who normally doesn't like automatics, the CVT is great. I have had a Mazda 2 and this car is far superior, in every aspect.
The only minor quirks are that the stereo has an annoying safety message, every time you start the car, that has to be manually acknowleged, by pressing the "ok". I recommend getting a screen protector (like for a phone), because if you drive the car regularly, ...Read more
this same point on the LCD screen could be pressed 1000 times in just the first year. The air conditioning is also not very strong, for such a small cabin space. Overall, though a great little car, both on the highway and around town.

Good car to drive
Although listed as a hatchback I was quite impressed with the amount of space inside the car. i.e. legroom. Especially with the backseat.
Car has basic Bluetooth and has been quite fiddly to connect your device.
Car is quite responsive and holds well during turns.
Overall quite happy with the car considering the reasonable price.

Dont trade in your old Jazz - You will be sorry
Optimistic purchase based on my trusty 2004, having done 162,000km. But the new one is disappointing.
Most uncomfortable seats ever! No back or lateral support in the seats - either bolt upright or too far away. Getting bad back.
Boot space disappeared - no longer a strong point. Flimsy flap replaces previous retractable boot cover. No CD player. Cant work out how to pair with iphone to get navigation - too complicated. Manual gear box stiff ++.
Fuel economy not that good - cant get under 6.3l/100km even using 98 RON. Old VTis getting 5.7 on 91 RON.
Cheaply made from Thailand. 6 month services... no I'm not paying that. I've gone back to my old one, might just give the new one to my mother.

Great Little Car
Reason for purchase? My wife wanted a small car. We decided to get a small, low cost, used car.
That didn't happen. Why?
We had looked at a number of cars and were in a Honda car yard when she saw a small, smart looking, red car. Turned out to be a Honda Jazz. This looked like just what she wanted
But we didn't buy it? Why not?
Because I felt we should look at other cars. So that's what we did. A number of vehicles appealed but it came down to the Mazda 2 or the Jazz. The Mazda was, apparently, a very popular vehicle so then -why the Ja...Read more

Excellent little car
A month ago I had to buy a new car and bought a yellow, manual, 5 door Honda Jazz. What a great car with lots of practical features. It has quite a high ceiling. The chairs in the back can be moved forward to make the booth bigger and backwards to have a big space between the front seats and back seats. I love this feature in my car. It is cheap in petrol use. There is no CD player in it but it has Bluetooth. Your bottle of water stays cool in the holder in front of the air-conditioning vent. I can find my yellow car quickly in the carpark. This car is great for city use. Very practical and easy to drive car

Our First Honda
We have had our VTi-S since Nov 15 and it has been an outstanding purchase. With a 5.8l/100 km on the highway and 5.9 l/100 km around the Gold Coast streets, it is not an expensive car to run. The radio controls are on the left spoke of the steering wheel, phone answering below them on the hub, the cruise control on the right with the manual changing tabs located on the hub. The dashboard instruments are very easy to read as is the information screen (which displays the rear camera, radio, GPS, phone call details, etc).
The car is very quiet u...Read more

Our Second Honda Jazz Experience
My wife's first Jazz was a new 2012 VTI-s, which has recently been transferred to our daughter. The decision to update to the latest Jazz was taken without even consideration or test drive of the new Jazz.
The major differences we have observed are:-
- for exactly the same price we paid for the 2012 version, there is a lot more gadgets & a slightly more refined larger vehicle
- appears to be slightly more road noise, could be due to new tyres
- definitely more interior space
- I read criticism of the touch screen technology, don't see any ...Read more

Well thought out car.
Jazz replaces Magna wagon. Smaller of course but versatile seat layout helps. CVT works well with no hint of problems that were present with earlier models.
I've only done 500km so unable to comment on running costs and reliability. Fuel consumption around 6.1 l/100km on semi rural run, up to 10 l/100km for very short suburban runs. Performance reasonable for 1.5 litres running auto trans. Good brakes.
Base model well equipped and only thing missing is GPS. Good legroom front and rear. Surprisingly good interior space. Constructio...Read more

I love this car!
This is pretty close to being the best car I have ever had. And I have had a LOT of cars!
It is super economical, comfortable - even on long trips - easy to drive and park. I bought it brand new and have had it for almost 2 years now. I drive more than 30,000 kms a year in it, and it never misses a beat.
I love everything about this car.

Comfortable little car
So much better than my Hyundai getz very quiet, bought the auto, straight out of the box on unleaded it does 5.2 L/100Km on highway and 6.2 around town stereo good and seats comfy on long trips, massive amounts of leg room it can fit a 2.5 meter parcel in it. The only thing I have updated are the parker and high beam to LED lights lots brighter. The cruise control has saved me buckets in speeding fines.

Look elsewhere if you want a reliable drive
Purchased the VTI manual model brand new in March 2015 .
Terrible to drive right from the start .low gear has practically no power, slow to take off, etc.
Road noise above expectation. Car has been in the service dept four times for various issues.
Strange rattles that are proving difficult to bed down.
Honda "customer care" dept - don,t make me laugh - these guys woul be better off performing at the Melbourne comedy festival . Their attitude has converted me from a Honda buyer.

meh
No denying the Jazz is cute. It handles fine and has a tight turning circle. It feels very roomy. The fuel efficiency in mho is overrated as I am getting the same mileage as my previous 17yo 2.0L car. The econ mode is dire. The touch screen is not intuitive and is very temperamental taking multiple 'touches' before it decides to function.. The overall finish of the car looks good, however, when you use and clean it regularly you get to realize how cheap and nasty the build really is. Also the a/c is woeful, and the carpet is already showi...Read more

Not Picking
As previously stated in my reviews, I hate the touch screen in this car as it is so dangerous to try and use it when driving.
Currently the thing that is annoying me is that the rubber door seal on the drivers side is continually coming off the metal and it stops the door closing. Next time it is serviced, I hope to get it glued on as it should have been when it left the factory.

Actually it should have been nit picking

hand door seal to get fixed. I have got used to the touch screen but still prefer my CRV for safety. The local petrol station would go broke if all the locals had a Jazz as I only go there every month. Next time I shall go for keyless entry and rear parking sensors although the camera is excellent. Small tip here for oldies when parking nose first in a shopping centre bay. Always push the orange indicators button when reversing out as it does send a message to the idiots who drive past as you reverse. Don't forget to cancel it again though.Similar opinion? Very good ride, lots of space but it looks pretty cheap
The car drives very well, very responsive, silent and economic.
It is the base model indeed, but it comes with some fancy electronics - a touch screen dash with bluetooth, reversing camera with dynamic guidelines.
The touch screen system looks good, but it is horrible to use. Very badly designed, you spend a lot of time looking for things that should be far more accessible. Yuk....
Comparing this new model to my old VTI 2003, it looks and feels different in almost everything. The seats' fabric is not nice, it does not give you enough support - it looks and feels cheap.
They also reduced the size of the tyres, which I can tell does not award the same stability my previous 2003 model.

Honda Jazz VTI s service schedule
Why 6 month service intervals or 10,000 klms in Australia what a have when in NZ it's 15,000klms or 12 months same oils, same product, similar climate. This negates the benefit of capped price servicing. Is this a marketing idea or a way to extract extra dollars when a quality product does not require 6 month services with normal driving

ms also the service book is printed for Australia. Actually New Zealand is 15,000 klms or one a year, not much differant to our climate in Australia, it seems England, Thailand all have the same products with different service requirements. Not right when so many manufacturers are now 15,000 or 12 months Honda are not selling the cars they should maybe this is one area that stops people buying them, its not competitive, also the brand is brilliant and something is not gelling here. I still believe its a money making way of making clients who do not understand service that if you do not service your Honda's every 6 months the warranty would be void, could not see how they could do that with a product they claim is high quality. We are now in Thailand and visited the dealership of Honda in. Awesome little car with loads of space!
We traded our 2010 Honda Civic for the 2015 Jazz. At first we were hesitant since it was a small car. But after driving it around for a month, I will vouch for it as one of the best small cars out there. It is a perfect car for city driving and the seats can be folded multiple ways to convert it into a mini van! It has a lot of leg room at the front as well as the rear. The civic use to run for 420 something Ks for a 45 litre fill up, the jazz does 600 Ks for a 35 litre fill up!
Positives:
fuel efficiency
lot of boot space, can easily fit a bike if you fold the back seats
great looking small car
great deal of technology even in the base model i.e reverse camera, touch screen control, etc..

Smallest Van
Jazz 2014 magic seats can provide a sleeping space for a girl or an adult around 165cm height. It could be the smallest sleep-in van. Under centain circumstances, driver can feel freer and safer to have a sleep space with her whenever and wherever she drives to. Drove very far in the first month.
Interior is better than old civic. Green mode does save a lot petrol.
Some problems: too big seams in winter temperature on the front; the front door tip is aggressive and can hurt people not paying full attention to the tip; the edge between the boot area and the back seats are not comfortable for sleep but toleratable because it was not promoted for sleeping in.

My month old 2018 jazz, has had a terrible whistle between 80kph-100kph it turns out its the drivers wing mirror. its driving me insane! the service department where i purchased it are hopeless. any ideas????? should i push for a new unit to be installed? as the passenger side does not whistle.

That's annoying. I would definately push it as a safety issue if it is distracting you from your driving then it needs to be replaced. Mine certainly doesn't do it. We don't or have never owned a car that has. If the dealer won't I would take it to another. Good luck!

Mine is 2009 model
Hi Bob, I purchased my Honda Jazz in January 2015 (Dec. 2014 model) and in 2016 I noticed the first rust spots under the bonnet. I reported it to the service staff at Hoskins Honda (now Sutton City). They took some photos and promised to contact me. Nothing happened so at the next service I reported it again. By now rust spread to engine bay and the hatch door.
They took more photos and promised to contact me again. Since nothing happened I contacted Honda Australia. They advised me to deal with Sutton city. They took more photos (two years later) and I haven't heard from them since.
When I requested all further communication to be conducted in writing they went dead quiet and even rejected my registered letter which I than posted to Melbourne Honda Australia. No answer, so today I am attending the first session at NCAT.
I have a Jazz first registered December, 2016 and noticed rust under the bonnet and hatch. Nordic have arranged for the car to go to a crash repairer to have it rectified. My worry is that I can only see rust in very obvious places and there may be more I can't see. The front driver side door was also leaking badly. NOT HAPPY.
