Hi folks
My Honda today 50cc scooter will not start at all
I have brought a brand new battery and thought that would fix it but no luck
Where Are the spark plugs located on this model?
1 answer
You will have to access the motor under the seat, taking off the plastics and the spark plug is on the right hand side but a fair way in which does make it a little hard to access but the right tool will get to it. In regards to your starting problem, I found that by carefully disassembling the starting crank case and giving it a good clean out works wonders however your issue might be electrical which would mean starting at the fuses etc.

My Honda today keeps cutting out. Does it have a stator??? Or else what else could it be.
2 answers
My wife had ours cut out a couple of weeks ago, we put it down to dirty fuel, I have also replaced the regulator (located in the front of the bike), the battery, cleaned where the kickstart (inside the casing) thoroughly and once every now and then, especially in cold times, put it on a charge overnight. Not sure about the stator but in 9 years of having ours we have only replaced the plugs twice, the battery once and the regulator once.
Ok yeah we are thinking maybe dirty fuel might replace the regulator too. Thanks might keep you posted.

Hey, just a couple of questions for any Honda today 50cc scooter owners.
Looking to buy a second hand one around 1K price range.
Looking for a reliable run around traveling 20ish kms a day too and from uni for the remaining two years of my course.
What do you guys reckon is too many kms to be buying second hand?
Any things impeticular I should look out for when test riding?
The differences in the Honda today models from 2003-2014?
Thanks for you time.
Happy riding

Sorry I just put a post above I meant to answer you directly. They seem reliable. They are crap-loads easier to work on compared to my Piaggio.
Buying second hand? dont forget the odometer loops at 9,999km so if it says 3,000km on the clock - you dont know if its 3,000 or 13,000, or 23,000 etc
the KN planning "easy high speed variator kit" sold at webike! japan works ok for $35 AUD. definitely got +5km more top end speed and I'm a fat

To tune your scooter:
-Install the high speed variator kit - see how you go with that. You need to buy a Y shaped tool and/or a rattle gun to make the job easier
- while doing so piss off any washers that are between variator faces (not under the nuts holding it on) if there one.
- get a tachometer off ebay. $10. it just wraps a cable around the spark plug and measures the revs from that ( think setting 3 works).
- when you are going flat out - look at the revs you are doing. The manual says max power is at 8,000 RPM. If you are doing much less than that install lighter roller weights (if its above 7500RPM thats probably not worth playing with). I wouldnt take a bigger step than 1g lighter than whats in there.
- take the carbi off and get a slightly bigger jet. Its not that hard to do. above this you start spending +$100 per mod.
I use to get 35km/L on my today.
My 150cc piaggio gets 30-33km/L and can do 115km (on the speedo - probably 105 by GPS). So its worth getting your R-N license and getting a 125/150cc IMHO.

Have just bought this scooter, but I can’t seem to open the storage underneath me and I don’t know where the thing is to tell me that I’m low on fuel, someone please help!
1 answer
There is an option on where the ignition key goes where it says "push seat", if you push the key in the seat will release. For the fuel, there is an orange light that will appear when it is down to just under a litre which should give you enough time to get to a fuel station.

Hi All,
I checked in Honda Melbourne stores and it appears Honda Today 50 is not sold any more. Is there way we can get in any another state?
1 answer
Unfortunately apart from second hand versions of this, there are Aprilia, Kymco and Piaggio as the major options for new models. There are plenty of used Todays around the place though.

What is the maximum weight 4 The Passenger on Honda today 50CC?
2 answers
This is a single seat scooter with a recommendation of one person only in the manual. I have however done a few trips with my wife on smooth level roads and we'd be a combined weight of 120KG just short of 19 stone. Also there are no pegs for a passenger so you will need to share the Front footwell.

Are the engines on these supposed to make a whistle sound when driving? I just bought one, brand new, yet the engine is so loud and squealing.

Hi, there!, if you have bought this model in new condition it may be just running itself in, as for whistling noises I used to get a bit of a whistle from the drive belt/ bearing, but as these scooters are simple little things mechanically just make sure you change the oil regularly and if you notice to things like sudden changes in fuel economy or excessive exhaust smoke and difficulties starting up, then get a decent mechanic to do a service. or you can go on youtube and type in Honda today 50cc and check out some of the videos that show everything from how to service and change oil to issues like the one you describe.( I hope this helps you ). take care Mr Brett Ratbag:D
