Read the Instructions and watch the on-line video - Easy to Use
I am not sure why this had so many negative reviews - I did a lot of homework before I purchased this machine - Very satisfied with the steam multi-cleaner - I have arthritis and the handle is easy to grip, no need to hold it tight and it has a little button on side to keep the steam on - there is no need to push down hard on the shaft - excellent for cleaning floor tile grout without bending down or on hands and knees - could see an immediate change. The power cord is long and the unit is very light weight and easy to pull around. The tank hol...Read more
ds 1.4 litres of water, and lasts about 1 hour 15 minutes. I used warm water and it took only 10 mins until it was ready to use. Read the Instruction booklet - wait for the unit has completely cooled down after use - approx. 45 minutes before you loosen off the cap very slowly where the water goes in - do it slowly. Whilst the steam level knob has no indicator on it you can tell when it is completely up high or down low by the direction you turn it - read the instructions - I have used a hand held steamer but doesn't work like this multi-cleaner. I don't think this unit is flimsy - everything has been made light weight - good for people who struggle with heavier machines.

Does the job but sent me to hospital with burns
While this works extremely well (once I can get the cap off to fill it then get it back on again), there is no way of knowing how much water is in there until you notice no steam coming out and realise it's empty. I also ended up in hospital with severe burns to my hand because despite turning it off and waiting over 40 minutes before attempting to take the lid off there was still so much pressure in there once I had loosened the cap it blew off and hit the ceiling (higher than normal ceiling) along with a volcano of boiling water which narrow...Read more

My hands down favourite
I love this steamer! I am currently onto my 2nd one. It takes a few minutes to heat up which is ok if you have plenty of time but once it's ready to use you can use it continuously for 45 minutes or more before it needs refilling. The adjustable steam pressure makes this product so versatile!!! I can turn the steam down low and clean my walls with ease. This is a powerful and effective steamer, I absolutely love it!!! It has onboard accessory storage which is handy and stops the accessories from getting lost as well as keeping them readily acce...Read more
ssible to swap over while in use. Nice long power cord and it is compact and easy to store when not in use. I highly recommend this steamer. The first one I bought did begin to leak water from the cap on the tank after a while but that was after I flogged the guts out of it, however it still works fine, I purchased my 2nd machine 2nd hand on gumtree and it is still working perfectly. I submit my steamers to some pretty heavy duty use and have tried many many different units. This one has stood the test of time and outlast all the others except for my shark liftaway. I would say the liftaway is better quality but this is more versatile.

Would not buy another one.
Very satisfied with the cleaning power, but the handle is not comfortable to hang on to, feels like it will snap, the steam level knob has got no indicators on it and can't see how much water is in the tank. Takes a long time to get up to temp.

Unusable handle
Got blisters on my hand after a few minutes. The extension tubes are wobbly - I wonder how long before it all falls apart. It takes quite long to heat up. The mop head is rigid and is in an awkward angle, have to band to lay it on the floor. The steam adjustment control is not marked clearly.
UNUSABLE with this handle! Wasted money even for half price, (regretfully, I payed $149 AUS ) I hate to think of that the fool price is $ 300 for this "entry level" steam cleaner.

Quality appliance that does what it was designed to do.
I don't understand the negative reviews. I think people who just didn't understand what they were buying when they bought it. Do your research first people so you know what you are getting! I was recommended this machine by an automotive detailers forum where professionals use this commercially. Yes sure it isn't perfect but I find the design and build quality both very good and very practical. These retail for $399 and I picked mine up secondhand for $185. I will also say that I have absolutely no experience with steamers so my expectations an...Read more
d feedback may not be quite fair in terms of what to expect from a comparable product. Pros: - Above average build quality and finish - Simple, suitably stylish and effective design - Good steam pressure and capacity should last for most household jobs without refilling - Very good range of tools and accessories with practical and easily accessible on-board storage - Mop and pad work surprisingly well on epoxy garage floor and painted timber floor. - Long hose and power cord, never had a problem with this reaching anywhere.Similar opinion? Glad it was only $88
What a piece of junk. I don't think I could find anything positive about this. It takes so long to heat up I could have my floors done by a mop and bucket quicker (and with better result)
Leave my tiles streaky, the handle is awkward to use and hurts your hand after a while. The floors stay wet for ages and it spits almost as much water as steam.
The head is at a weird angle so only part of it even is used for mopping.
I would have been angry if I had paid $300+ for this rubbish.
If you are thinking of buying this, do yourself a favor and buy a mop, bucket a liter of vinegar!

I love this unit, a must buy
I love this unit it cleans amazingly. I love the fact is that you don't have to hold it in your hand, that you have a trigger to hold down and use. This is the only steamer to get. The long hose allows you for getting in those hard to reach places. Showers around fittings and around the toilets. Very happy

Excellant Machine
I bought a carpet shampooer from Godfreys and this steam cleaner was "thrown in for free". The shampooer cost me $1100 and this had a shelf price of $399 so there was something dodgy there! Nevertheless despite the shampooer being overpriced junk, this little steamer is fantastic. It heats up quickly and does its job with no problems. I have not found the handle to be flimsy at all, you dont need pressure on it just a simple back and forth and it is done! The pads are washable so saves money on replacing them often. The glider attachment for ca...Read more
rpet works well for giving the carpets a lift between shampoos. I use it everywhere in my home from floors to carpets to shower screen to oven, and have never had a problem with it. I use mine weekly and it has never let me down. Easy to store in one of those plastic tubs from Kmart too, I snap apart the handle and store it all in the tub. For emptying just empty out as much water as you can and leave it to cool down and dry a bit, then store without the stopper in. I have done it this way for over a year without problems. I highly recommend this machine!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great first steam cleaner
From a recommendation this is a great entry level steam cleaner, yes the handle is flimsy, but it is great for cleaning soap scum from the glass shower screen and perfect for windows and mirrors also this is hard to beat for detailing the engine bay in your car, so all in all for the cheap price at Godfreys its a bargain so go grab one they are on sale for $88.

Don't bother with it!
I agree with most of the comments already given. We have an extensive area of tile that has a slight grain in it. On speaking to the chap at Godfreys, he recommended this model as it came with a hard "brush" that would get into the grain of the tile. Well, it doesn't! I really don't think that something that costs this much should need to be placed over a stain/mark for 20 seconds for it to work and then not deliver anyway. Yes, the handle feels very flimsy and feels as if it would break quite easily. I have found a really niffty tool in ...Read more

JUST AN AVERAGE STEAMER
This review is based on my experienced using this floor steamer. I had to wear thick garden gloves to use this because the handle is badly designed, it hurts your hand after you used it for a few minutes (I didn'd need to wear gloves with my previous floor steamer). Can't see the water level in the tank. The steam adjustment button does not have a high and low steam indicator. It is very hard to remove the excess water from the tank after you have cleaned your floor. The steamer is not so effective even on the highest steam, you need to run t...Read more
he mop on the same area a few times to get it cleaned (I have white shiny floor tiles) It only takes me half the time to clean the floor with a mop and bucket. The good feature about it is the hose is larger than normal floor steamers and it's designed like a vacuum cleaner, therefore there is no need to push the whole unit forward and backwards when cleaning. The Hose and it's designed like a vacuum cleaner Handle badly designed, can't see water tank and removal of excess water from the tank is a real chore. Take double the time to clean the floor than a bucket and mop.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Good and Bad
I have recently purchased the Hoover 5650 heritage Multi Purpose Steam Mop and have used it a couple of times.
I now have a considerable sized blister on my hand that was holding the handle with hideous grips. This has happened both times have used the mop, and not for a long period of time.
Also, the instructions that come with it are lacking in so many ways. It doesn’t tell you what temperature settings are recommended for the cleaning you want to do. I asked the sales rep from the store I purchased it from and was advised that you h...Read more
ave to work it out yourself. Luckily I have enough common sense not to use it on full power for more delicate cleaning. But this should be stipulated in the instruction manual. I can say that it is very good for cleaning floors, glass and mirrors. It is however, useless at cleaning anything that has older stains or marks. For example, it is useless in removing the calcium build up on shower screens and the mould from the tiles and in the rooks and crannies. The attachments don’t help at all. My other concern is with the flimsiness of the pipe.. It bends with the slightest pressure. I will be expecting a free replacement when it does eventually snap, which I am pretty sure will happen at some stage. Light weight, easy to use. Good for glass Grip on handle causes blisters, needs retractable power cord.1 comment

Works fine
Reading reviews on the mop I have to say people don't know how to use it properly. I'm a man and find the handle the right size and of course I wear gloves using a steam cleaner so no blisters for me. I boil the water in the electric jug and pour it in and when the steam stops coming out open it with the gloves and pour in more boiling water, who wants a water gauge on a steel pressure boiling tank....just something to break. I blasted out the big 900mm oven and a big canopy stainless steel rangehood and all the black stains on the hobb trivets...Read more
all so thick with gunk the chemical clean was no good, but sprayed it with degreaser first and left to soak in. Then the soap scum in the shower and glass, way faster than srubbing by hand. Then put the cloth on the floor thing and did the tile floors much quicker than the mop and drys faster. Plus a bonus use, black mold on bathroom ceilings using the floor mop upside down did that fast compared to ladder and a sponge. Also good at cleaning the toilet too. Don't worry about leaving water in it, tip what you can out and leave the cap off, and it drys out,it's a stainless steel tank, just don't leave it full of water when you store it. Much more powerful than most domestic steam mops, lots of attachments come with it. nothing yetSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Over priced, under-engineered & flimsy.
This was the first steam mop we purchased. It did not live up to expectations. We originally wanted a steam mop to clean our tiles & grout. The Hoover does not clean the grout, but is Ok on cleaning the tiles. This product is overpriced & under designed, and I really hope Hoover & Godfreys pay attention to reviews as product quality affects both their reputations.
It gave a good steady supply of steam once it got started.

Ok, but misses the mark
As a mum of two very busy boys and two dogs I also happen to be conscientious and house proud, I love the fact that I can clean without exposing my young family to chemicals. I previously owned a H2O mop and had excellent results. I cleaned the tiles, carpets and walls (awkwardly). We have a huge house 4 rooms carpet, 2 bathrooms and probably 50-80 sqm of textured non shiny tiles.
When my old mop broke I wanted something that would do all this with ease and possibly clean the grouting in the bathroom and have the added bonus of cleaning oth...Read more
er things well. When I purchased this rather expensive machine I was told it was a 5 bar cleaner but later when I questioned Hoover they informed me it was in fact a 3 bar.... I started cleaning the walls and within 2 mins the spring that holds the cleaning pad to the mop head broke, I returned to the store and the guy in Godfreys fixed it. I finished the walls (which it did do a good job) then started on the bath rooms, on the shower glass this was absolutely fantastic totally impressed. And the preformance on cleaning the oven also impressive. The grout it was very slow but did a reasonable job ( the design of the handle leaving very sore read blisters on my hand). After a day or two I decided to attack the floors, if I had have had a shiny tile floor I would have been devastated at this purchase, it left streaks and an oily film over the floors. I thought that maybe it was due to not washing the pads first, but no that didn't work either, again the mop head popped apart several times and I fixed it again myself. As its primary purpose as a mop this machine was disappointment but its other uses tend to give it back a few points. I really think that some re-design is needed to make this product so much better.2 comments

Very dissapointed
I wanted a a cleaner to clean or tiled floor and bathrooms. I have given the unit two good goes now but it is so terrible to use. The handle is horrible leaving me with a red sore hand - I can't hold it any more.
The angle of the head is wrong and I find dragging the unit around furniture very awkward as because the floor is wet you have to work backwards all the time kicking it and the lead away all the time - unlike a vacuum cleaner where you can walk forward.

Awkward handle
The design of the handle is awful! I have used it to clean my floors twice now, once for 20mins and once for 10 mins. The first time my hand came up bright red, swollen and blistered due to the nature if the ribbing on the handle. I tried a second time with a tea towel wrapped around the handle, and it has done the same (so far with no blisters).
It works reasonably well, but leaves just as much water as the mop and bucket did. Add the time it takes to dry, filling it up, waiting for it to heat, waiting for it to cool, and trying to empty it, and it takes more time! Plus all the water never comes out as it is supposed to.
No chemicals used
Handle caused hand to swell and blister due to ribbing, takes a lot if time, expensive

I used the small "squeegee" head - the one that comes with its own little cloth- for my windows, but I didn't put the cloth on it. However, I have also used the large, floor head (without a cloth attached) for larger windows/glass doors. Just steam the whole area with the bigger head and then dry with a microfibre cloth (as there's no "squeegee" blade to take off the excess water). Also, we have sliding doors that have an annoyingly narrow dirt-gathering channel that the door runs in and I use the pointy nozzle to shoot the dirt along to one end, where I blow it out onto a cloth. Hope that helps.
Just any attachment...the wide of the attachment is all important. To do a good job, apply steam evenly using the one with best cover. Finish by cleaning straight after with a microfiber clothe. I find this to be the best way

I wish I had bought the Karcher now. Really regret purchase as have no desire to use it due to the pain it causes, even now that I have added padding to the handle. Very disappointed in Hoover.
