Very ordinary
We purchased the 2005 model with 70k on the clock in 2009. For a small car, it is reasonably spacious inside, with good boot room and handy to park. The interior is of reasonable quality, with a functional instrument cluster. The car however was marred by little issues, gearbox (auto), some electrical and handling. Overall, while the quality is significantly better than the earlier Excels, there is still some way to go. We found the engine while capable for a 1.6L needed more refinement as it was quite noisy and harsh, and struggled a little up some hills.
Good boot size, easy to drive
Poor refinement, niggling issues

Fantastic little car
I have just traded in my 3 door 2006 Hyundai Accent hatch for a 5 door 2012 Hyundai Accent hatch. I loved my little Hyundai Accent so much that when it came to upgrading my car due to having a baby and needing 4 doors I didn't hesitate to check out the new Accent. Hyundai advertise the i30 so much that it seems that the Accent isn't made anymore but checking the web site you can find all the information you need. The new shape is great and I think it is the best looking hatch out there. Great features including integrated bluetooth and as always amazing space inside the cabin and hatch area.
Great space inside, looks great on the outside.

2012 Hyundai Accent returns to Australia after a 4 year absence - better than ever
We have purchased a new 2012 Hyundai Accent 4 dr sedan, which is a completely redesigned, and slightly bigger version than the previous 2000 - 2007 models.
So far, after 3 months, we couldn't be happier. Good power from the 1600 motor even though the car is an automatic. Very economical to run, on the highway and even around town. This car replaces our 2000 Hyundai Excel which we still own and drive as a second vehicle.
The build quality is flawless and well designed, and has all the latest safety features normally found on much more ex...Read more
pensive cars. Good comfortable seats, excellent interior space and a large boot make the car very versatile. We purchased the car from the same dealer as the Excel, Keema Hyundai in Mt Gravatt, Brisbane and they were excellent, insuring our purchase was a pleasant experience. All in all, this car meets or exceeds our expectations in every way. Great car at a good price. Comfortable, economical and well designed1 comment

2005 Accent
I had a 2005 Hyundai Accent 3 door. It had numerous mechanical problems. (7 years old) It was reliable when I first purchased it. (May it had been neglected by previous owner hence the mechanical issues). Cheap to run. $45 would usually fill the car from empty. KM range per tank 450 on average. Inside basic, also small. But has a HUGE boot. Dont think it would make an ideal family car. Perhaps a good first car though.
Cheap to run, easy to park.
Not the best looking car about.

2012 Hyundai Accent diesel, it's amazing :)
I bought this hatch in February, and I chose the 6speed manual diesel. The car has all the safety features, ie 6 airbags, anti skid, stability control, you name it. I absolutely love this thing, it's really quick (quicker than the petrol due to the 1.6l diesel being turbo charged) and the fuel economy unreal. The car averages about 4.8l per 100km, so I usually fill up when the fuel light comes on when I have 100km left, which means roughly 620km out of 35 litres. I had a barina before this, and my accent gets 150km more out of the same amount of fuel.
The car has an eco mode, and it even suggests what gear it would like you to be in to save fuel.
Fuel economy, quickness, safety
Rear visibility

Good
I just sold my 2007 model hundai accent and I currently regret this decision.. Its a great little car, always reliable never misses a beat, no maintenance needed, has great accessories, economical on petrol, still zippy enough to get around town and small enough to fit into small parking spots, it is comfy and has a spacious boot, and best of all it feels great to drive. oh, and I love the stereo controllers in the steering wheel. My car was black with dark tinting and looked very stylish. I would definitely recommend purchasing a hyundai accent especially for a first car or a family car.
Great little car

Reliable
I bought my 2000 Accent three years ago with 50K on the clock and have since added another 45K which has been reasonably trouble free. In that time I have been quite impressed with the reliability and build quality of the car. It has been regularly serviced all it's life so this may have something to do with the good run that I've had. Not too many issues to mention, manual gearshift is a bit notchy and disappointingly the dash lights have recently stopped working (apparently a common fault on the GS model which is the one with the white instru...Read more
ment cluster). The seats are reasonably comfortable except for the rear centre seat which is shaped a bit like a speed hump. Build quality is excellent, feels nice and solid on the road for a small car. It has plenty of poke and cheap on the juice. I would highly recommend buying the Accent if looking for value for money, however make sure that it has been serviced regularly as many are well past their warranty period. Quality build with low running costs Manual gearbox a bit notchySimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Almost the worst car I have ever had
Had a 2001 Accent GL 5 door hatchback. Purchased 2nd hand in 2008 for $10K and sold it in 2012 for $2.5K. Had it serviced regulary but had a never ending list of faults, especially electrical. Got to the point where often would not start because immoblizer would not recognise key and then if it did start, would often stall without warning. Interior of car looked and felt very cheap and nasty, poor quality plastics, in one word if you are looking at one of these, LOOK ELSEWHERE
When I got rid of it
Electrical faults galore

Excellent
This car is one of the best (and safest) small cars around. It has enough engine power to do steep hills and cope with frequent interstate trips. The interior space and boot space are amazing for such a small car- across the back seat we have comfortably fit 2 adults and a toddler in a car seat; we have also managed to fit 3 adults, a baby in a car seat, a bassinette, a pram, 3 luggage bags, and a guitar in the car.
The car is also cheap to run in terms of petrol and maintenance costs. It has also been very reliable- no breakdowns in 7 year...Read more
s, and we only once needed to use the 5 year manufacturer's warranty for a boot light problem. Small frame, low-lost to run and maintain, spacious interior. Lights do not switch off when engine is off (has lead to multiple dead batteries!), no central locking.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

I just traded my Accent in for another brand car, but I am really regretting it. I will definitely go back to the Accent when it's my next trade in time, was a bad move. How can you go past that value for money, she was a beauty! A zippy, comfortable and easy to drive car.
It's cruisy, it's gutsy, it's cute....I really loved my 2006 Accent. The gear changes were great. It was smooth. Took corners fantastic. Felt safe when I braked suddenly without losing control, even around corners. A very easy car to drive. Looks great and I had a lot of comm...Read more

should win best small car as no other car I checked, Astra, Kia, Tiida, Focus, Renault etc can match it for the goodies it gives as standard for the price.
best value for money in this mid-size hatch range (believe me I tested all of them), everything comes as standard issue, remote locking, electric windows, dual airbags, cd player, adjustable seat(up and down) 5 YR warranty etc, etc. I bought the 2001 model years back never had a bit of trouble, just traded for the 2006 and love it. All the different makes are following the same body lines, 1/2...Read more

Good
Good little car as a runabout which is what we use it for - very economical but not a very smooth car (manual) and not very good suspension. Very economical on petrol though.
very economical to run, air cond it really good
My model 2001 seems really bumpy on the road and also the gear box is not very smooth -quite jerky going from 1st to 2nd and when the aircond is on it has absolutely no power to get moving if stopped at traffic lights

Good
For the price of the car, the value for money is fantastic. I used to have an Excel which I thought was pretty zippy, but this one is fantastic. The gear change is smooth, the air conditioning is powerful and the overall drive is impressive.
The value and features you would expect from a more expensive car: i.e. power windows, good airconditioning, smooth gear changing, nice interior, large boot.
May be a bit too small for those tall people!

Great small car for single parent families like mine!! Definately worth the money so far. My old car cast me $3000 in 14 months to fix!! Hopefully won't have problems like that as I still have 3 years left of the new care warranty ( I have a 2002 model)
nice compact car with plenty of room. Good on petrol and have owned car for 2 months now. Good Air con and CD player. Love my new car
It is a small car so you have to be aware when driving that you are suitably visible but have had no problems.

Very happy with my 2006 Accent Hatch, My first Korean car. Good styling, comfortable seating, good CD/MP3 audio and steering wheel audio control works like a treat. Something most other cars in the same category would have to pay for the option.
Fuel economy, i am constantly getting 7-7.5L-100km, not the best but i can live with that. Plastic panels are prone to scratches, in fact both doors and glove box are covered in scratches.
Extras such as Sunnie holder's excellent. however those large Paris Hilton style sunnies wouldn't fit thoug...Read more
h. Fuel cap even has a string attached to the fuel door, good idea for people who have left them on the pump in the past. Heated side mirrors are actually very useful on those cold mornings, it cleans up the mist in the mirrors in no time, very handy.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

A car without the quirks people hate. If you want a vehicle that wont let you down (Provided you keep up the services) is comfortable inside, has deceptively large boot space and drives smoothly in all conditions, then this would explain why Hyundai is on top of the list when it comes to small car safety, value and performance. A great first `real` car and one the will cover the basics but will unlikely cost you in worn parts prematurely. If your thinking about it, then do it.
Completely reliable, Small car with excellent interior space, Easy maneuverability
Changing the light, indicators can be a challenge at first

reat mileage & handling. IMO, this car should be in a category like 2011 and later as it is a completely redesigned model, bearing no resemblance to the earlier models before sales were ceased on the old Accent in Australia about 2009. It is not a true indicator of the vehicle if 'Product Review' leaves it in the 2006-2012 category.
