Duel clutch
Driving my 2016 Tucson Elite, 1.6 turbo, took a bit to get used to. The hesitation when driving forward from a stop, is one problem. The other problem is what peeves me the most, the duel clutch over heats too easily. I owned a 2012 ix35 before this car and had no problem reversing. The Tucson sends me a warning continually it's over heating while I'm reversing a trailer up my driveway. I hope Hyundai reviews what clutch they will be using in the next series of Tucsons.

Very happy with my purchase
We traded in our very reliable but five year old Hyundai i30 for the Tucson Elite in the 1.6litre turbo petrol version and we are very satisfied. Saved thousands by purchasing a demo with 600km on the clock. Great boot space, plenty of leg room even for tall people, rides smoothly and has a bit of zip to it once it gets going, as it takes a while to get used to the dual clutch auto. Has a good dash layout and looks great ( ours in pepper grey)

Dangerous vehicle transmission
Bought the Hyundai Tucson Elite 1.6l Turbo Petrol model on 8-1-17. Straight away the DCT Transmission was losing power intermittently and when I told service team they said it was turbo lag! The after they told me this which was three and a half weeks after I bought it, the car was taken back to the dealer on a tow truck. The car would not move forward. It was like it was in neutral and no matter what I did it would not move forward, only reverse. I tried for over 5 minutes to get the car to go forward and finally after revving it to 5000RPM se...Read more
veral times it limped forward. Luckily I was only 40 metres down the road from my home, but two minutes later and I would have been at a busy roundabout with two kids in the car. Hyundai tell me its is 'performing normally under test conditions' but they have not replicated it therefore they cannot have fixed it and told me it might be a one off computer glitch. Imagine my surprise when I found out that up to 41,000 Tucson's with the Dual Clutch transmission in the US and 7,000 in Canada were recalled at the end of last year for the exact same problem. Different build date but same transmission and same problem. I even sent the dealer a Youtube video which someone in the US posted to show what it was doing (exactly what my car did) as his car did not replicate the problem under test conditions either. Hyundai Australia deny that my car could be doing the same as my car was built somewhere different to those in the US. If they admit my car has the same problem they will have to admit it is a design problem with the transmission and then the recall will no doubt be bigger than just the US. The only thing they will do for me is take the car back, sell it as a used car to some unsuspecting buyer and charge me $5,400 for a different model without this rubbish transmission. I owned the car for exactly 3.5 weeks and I will have to pay $2,000 extra for the Diesel model plus $3,400 in onroad costs when I paid $3,400 in onroad costs 3.5 weeks before. The models with this DCT Transmission are the Elite and Highlander Turbo petrol models. Would be interested to hear if anyone else in Australia has had the same problem.Purchased in January 2021 at Cardiff Hyundai for A$47,000.00.
