I always fly Jal, smooth flights free stopover to London or Paris, Very nice crew, clean plane with good entertainment . So far we have had no problems at all with any aspect of our flights and I suspect if we did it would be dealt with quickly and courteously
Inexpensive, on time, modern aircraft, great service

If you're going to Japan to ski - don't travel with Japan Airlines!

published

Despite checking with the airline, when we went to check-in, we were told our ski bags were too long and we had to pay extra. Very unpleasant start to the holiday. Several others in the queue had the same problem. Man at the desk was very sympathetic but it's a pity that we never get apologised to for being mucked around!!!
Left on time.
When you book to go skiing and check you can take your skis, they shouldn't cost extra!!!

I have gone on two JAL flights the service was quite good, "special meals" (I had Vegetarian)we're served quite quickly, and the normal meals were served quite soon after, The aeroplane was clean but felt quite cramped with a seat layout 3-3-3. They didn't have many snack during the flight like other airlines which have a snack station in the kitchen. It was great that they had personal T.V but the screen was a bit small with their old T.V system. The think which bug me the most was that the aeroplane was very hot, we asked the air hostess twice and they did not help. It was the middle of summer as well.
To conclude there are some good aspect however I would of liked better service.
Clean,energy efficient
Cramped, hot on plane,

Our flight from Cairns to London with JAL included an overnight stop over with breakfast in Narita so we weren't so tired and jet lagged when we arrived in London. The service was amazing, the staff were as kind and helpful as they could possibly be. And being able to actually see the countries we were flying over was brilliant. I'd fly with them again just for that it was so interesting.
The JAL plane we flew on had a video camera on the bottom of the plane so that you could actually SEE the country you were flying over, it was amazing, fascinating and better than the inflight entertainment

I have been advised good reviews of this airline and will try them out one day. They come up the cheapest!
JAL come up the cheapest option for us when travelling to London the last time!
They went in receivership just before we went over to london. We were told we would have to sign a waiver form to enable up to fly with them. So we flew wih another company. We would have been fine if we did sign it as it all worked out ok. I wished we had of done so now as the frew hundred dollars in my pocked for travelling would have been nice.

Great staff, spotless plane, great service, on time. Overnight a their expense near airport (in similar time zone) and then after a good nights sleep onto Paris the next day in day time so when you get there you feel human! Would recommend this airline to everyone. Give it a go !
Everything about JAL worked for me. Great experience.
Can;t fault the airline in any way and I am not always easy to please. I was impressed.

Business class Sydney to London return, December 2010 to February 2011. Lovely service from people who seemed to care about their passengers' comfort. Seats weren't the most comfortable, and the air seemed a bit stuffy. But a great flight in both directions, at a very competitive price. Good quality well maintained aircraft from what I could tell: 777. Highly recommended.
Great service, lovely staff.

I traveled with two small children and found JAL very good. Especially in contrast to the American Airlines staff who acted like every request was a bother, the staff here were very nice. The kids were served their meals early which was nice as they didn't have to wait. The food wasn't too bad and the kids enjoyed the variety in their meals.
staff members were very kind and considerate and attentive. cabin was tidy. there were foot rests on the seats in front of us (economy class) which was quite nice for a long flight.
normally pricey, though for this particular trip a leg on JAL was actually the more affordable option

I have travelled many times to China via JAL with overnight stopovers in Japan breaking the trip into less tiresome legs...which only means getting into Beijing a half day later instead of arriving late at night and late to bed....you are better off taking the JAL route, via Japan and get a good nights rest and feel refreshed with excellant service...particularily on the Japan China legs...with traditional Japanese meals and top rated onboard entertainment options only now offered by some airline where JAL has had them on this service(Japan/China) for years
Service, food and general attention of staff
Fares can be higher than average but compensated by overnight accommodation in top hotels when journey broken

Fantastic service, help full staff, great food, you must fly with them, an absolutely terrific airline, if not the best, great choice of food, great choice of movies.
you can be put on the dodgy plane which has itchy seats.

My family and I flew to North America via Narita and enjoyed the experience. The only problem I saw with JAL was that the seating was cramped, but not more so than some other airlines. The food on board was OK and the entertainment acceptable. The plane we were on looked a bit old and was not especially appealing. We did have to connect through Narita and were there about 23 hours, but having never been to Japan, we enjoyed getting out and seeing Narita which was quite interesting and relaxing.
Good service, friendly staff.
Seats were cramped, their fares can be high.

Wonderful polite service. I thoroughly recommend JAL for flights from Sydney to Europe. The overnight stay at Narita eliminated any jet-lag. Best of all was the food.
I recently flew from Sydney via Narita to Amsterdam. The service was excellent. I was drinking a lot of water during the night and whenever I emptied a bottle a flight attendant came by and supplied me with a fresh bottle. The food was superb, but then again I was in the pointy end of the plane! The stop-over at Narita in the JAL Hotel was also excellent. I will fly JAL to Europe from now on. I too found the camera shots of the country we were flying over better than any film that was on the program.

I flew with JAL from London Heathrow to Auckland in New Zealand. The service was excellent as the staff were always there to help and provide drinks for you to date with all the modern communications for your comfort. They provide a free night in a hotel if your connection is the next day with free breakfast. They do team up with New zealand airlines from Japan to Auckland though and the plane was much smaller than the JAL one. I flew in 2001 so I am sure the service is even better now but prices will be much higher.

Japan Airlines codeshare with Qantas, so even though you are flying JAL - the chances are that you may end up on a Qantas flight anyway.

Thought the service was very professional and they have attendants that can speak other languages (i.e. not english or japanese). we can't expect that national airline for another country to always speak perfect english - but it's more than passable.

You can buzz and they bring you extra snacks - we flew from Melbourne to Singapore then onto Tokyo - a long flight but it flies through the night so it doesn't seem so bad if you can sleep on planes.
very professional service, nothing is too small
Size of the meals are small - could have done with another helping!
