Good tow vehicle, rip off servicing

published

My 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee (diesel) tows a 22 foot Supreme caravan very well and with better fuel consumption than a 200 series Cruiser, although it has to work hard at take off and up hills. Very comfortable, great manoeuvrability with a tight turning circle. But probably won't buy another Jeep because of the rip off for servicing. $526 for a minor service (30000 km) and $1000 for a 40000 service, most of which is inspect this, check that. The oil they use must be mighty good going by the cost of it, yet it must be replaced after 6 months even if you have done few kms. I know when I'm being conned.

Style power for towing and those ads they get me

published

Those ads attracted my attention first up then we looked at the suitability for towing our caravan. Then on checking the specifications we Decided it would be suitable for our towing requirements. We took one for a test drive and questioned others who owned one read the. reviews in a number of motoring magazines and decided to purchase. We have now had our Grand Cherokee for 8 months covered 20000 klm mostly towing a 22 foot caravan half way around Australia and are very impressed with the performance of the vehicle.

Like the comfort

We have a JGC Overland 2012.
We do love the car, but it has issues when driving off road.
Twice we ended up with FCW OFF coming on. Now the "eye" for FCW is lose and almost falls off. The dealer said that he never had this problem before.
But worse is that we lost the 4WD when driving through sand along a beach. It went into rear wheel drive only (would have preferred front wheel drive ;( )
We had to get help to be pulled out. Embarrassing.

Disappointed

published

I brought a Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 2013 waited 6 months for delivery. I picked it up August 2013 ant I have only done 6,500 kms in 8 months and it has not been off road. I had it to a perth service agent twice for a warning on the dash and asked for a report on the issue and I never received. I have now had another new issue with the exhaust filter nearly 100% full. The car will not drive over 70kms and is very sluggish on take off. Has been on the diagnostic machines twice and had a new filter and now it has happened again. I am glad I haven't planned a trip up North or around Australia as I definitely wouldn't feel confident in the cars reliability.
