Reversing The Trailer
Hi, newbie pom from the UK, I've been a caravanner for many years, The Grand will be my third tow car, I had an ML270. and an 02 cherokee grand 2.7. All Diesel. Here's the thing. The NEW overland is an expensive SUV. I use it for my work and leisure, and tow a twin axle Superstorm Caravan. It was a REAL shock when for the first time having hitched up and arrived at the venue to discover that reversing this lady was not going to be simple. Its rare to get a drive in space, and so the majority of set downs happen after multipoint maneuvers into ...Read more
your parking bay. Normally I would achieve that selecting low range, and reverse on just about tickover or the gentlest of throttle. This new Grand is a whole NEW ball game, it is completely different experience, and, in my opinion can be dangerous. The throttle is fly by wire, Im not sure is this is contributory, but the issue is that the power train take up to wheel movement requires continuous blipping of the throttle to get transition from reves to movement, but, the revs keep climbing and so it off throttle and brake to prevent te take up too quick. It's not that clever reversing the car into a tight spot either, even worse if you have a gradianet or up kerb. Dealers have looked, and agree but FCA state its characteristic. Trouble is, this is a car competing with BMW, Audi and Range Rover. Its certainly got a terrific launch from the lights, but you don't drive backwards in quite the same way it drives forwards. The transition from revs to torque is somehow wrong. What Else, if that's not enough, some joker has sealed up the rear window. It used to open, what a bonus that was, now the electric boot wants either to be open or shut. Roof rails, my roof ger no long fits and there are no rail slots for ties. Running lights, how come there is no option for running lights of along with tail lights on?. Puddle lights, great idea but, unless they are on the underside of the door, when you open the door the mirror mounted light suddenly vanishes out 90 degrees away from the puddle area. LAST road tax, when purchase the tax was £280, now its £500 due to the emissions reveal. This is not progress peeps, its lost a portion of its utilitarian use. and now due to the FCA finance pack I'm stuck with it for another 3 years. If Id wanted a car that just went well and did no utility stuff I would have opted for the BMW X. Jimbo

Loved it
Great car. Beautiful to drive and gorgeous to look at. Plenty of space and power. Fuel consumption of my 5.7L V8 was as expected ( it's thirsty- no two ways about it - average of 11L/100km on the highway at 110km/h. Around town expect closer to 20l/100km ). ECO mode is useless. The stereo system is awesome.
Had no issues with it other than parts being ridiculously expensive. For major service items like the transmission service, buy local aftermarket parts or from the USA - Jeep genuine parts prices are nuts.

Overland 2015 DIesel
Had this car since new and with no problems at all. Love the way it handles and tows my caravan. Plenty of power to overtake and do the day to day groceries. Great fuel economy as well for a heavy car and defiantly would recommend this car for someone that is after a 6 cylinder diesel.

Impressed
What a SUV, purchased 2nd hand, at first I was a bit cautious as everyone says not a Jeep they have problems but it’s not 1990’s anymore ha, well I have had the car for 2 months and the comfort, features, technology and fuel mileage is awesome, very spacious as well, handling is great and very smooth on the open road with minimal road noise, Jeep have been great to communicate with when I have asked about recalls that I have heard about they said if there is any for the car they will call me and book it in to get rectified if any come up which none has, I like the SUV and now a proud Jeep owner :)

Great Car
I have found nothing wrong with the car. It has almost every option of a high quality luxury car. Love the power, performance, off road capability, economy and reliability. Excellent when towing my 2.5 tonne caravan. Only negative and it’s a valid one. The vehicle is costly to service especially compared to other 4 WD’s.

I bought a Jeep. A good choice.
In 2014 I traded my 2000 Holden Caprice Gen II 5.7 litre for a 2012 Subaru Forester 2.0 turbo diesel and loved that car for 4 years, clocking up 65,000 kls. I am not a small person and found going from the Caprice to the Forester I lost leg room. I researched and hinted around, coming down to 2 choices. X5 BMW diesel and Jeep Grand Cherokee. BMW was far more expensive for a comparable Jeep. So, in April 2018, I bought a Jeep.
To be precise a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 3.0 turbo diesel. It has options similar to the X5, too many t...Read more
o go through, and you can google, or Red Book, the details. It is like driving a large comfortable lounge chair with a comforting surge of power and acceleration, should you need it. Soon after taking possession the bride and I drove to Canberra for the last of the 100 year Anzac ceremonies. Set the “Active Cruise Control” and it drove itself, all I had to do was point in the right direction and stay on the correct side of the road. Fuel consumption was 8.6 Lts per 100 klms for the trip, which is just a tad more than specs, presumably because the air bag suspension lowers the car making it more streamlined and reduce drag, however fuel consumption goes up to about 10 lts per 100 klms in and around the city, which is no wonder when you are moving 2 1/2 tons of metal around the metro streets, depending on how heavy you are on the excellerator. Despite the size and weight, the Jeep is a pleasant to drive and surprisingly manourverable, traffic and car park alike. An added bonus of sensors all round make it easy to reverse out of shopping centre car parking, giving adequate warning of traffic approaching from the left or right which you may otherwise be unaware.Similar opinion? Love the car. Dislike Jeep Australia- woeful customer service.
Great car to drive with wonderful safety features - especially love the Assisted Cruise Control.
Tows large caravan easily. Economy cruising with van is 14-16 litres/100kms which is brilliant.
On the bad side FCA (aka Jeep Australia) still have not contacted me with their supposed offer of an extended 2-year warranty (normal 3-yr warranty now finished as of last Xmas). Also recently, a rear air suspension boot blew and FCA have refused to cover the $1700 cost of the part which should be covered under the extended warranty - which as stated I still have not been offered despite public promises from FAD. My dealer has been good in this matter and it's FCA who are renigging to date!

Outstanding, Despite FCA H/O
We purchased our 3rd WK Series recently, all diesels. Like Steve's post 22 April, we are affected by the towbar recall, and Jeep Australia's atrocious lack of communication or solutions for its most loyal customers. Setting that aside, the vehicles have been outstanding. We put over 100,000 kms on the 2012 Overland 5-speed in all conditions and routinely towed 2.3 tonnes with ease. We then put over 125,000 kms on the 2014 Summit 8-speed, including 30,000 kms towing 3.5 tonnes of offroad van on all types of road surfaces including the Gibb. T...Read more
he 2014 and now the 2018 tow the big van with complete ease, and fuel burn rates (7.8L/100 combined urban/bush non-towing, 16.3L/100 towing at weight limit) are excellent, especially considering the payloads. Cockpit noise is non existent (except our brilliant 20 inch Cooper Discoverer AT3's added some road noise). The vehicles have never let us down so far. Would love engine manufacturer VM Motori to add a 2nd turbo to eliminate the minor lag, but torque is already brilliant.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Purchased the Overland 2014 and LOVE IT!
Purchased the Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 2014 model and LOVE IT! Our family loves the extra functions such as the lift suspension, the keyless entry, panoramic sunroof, heated and cooling in both front and rear seats, stop/start engine, bluetooth connection, inbuilt navigator. All in all a smooth drive that doesn't feel heavy at all.

Easily the best car I have ever owned.
We have now done 157k kilometers lms in this car and it has never missed a beat.
We towed a camper trailer along the Strzlecki, Birdsville, Oodnadatta and Tanami tracks and it performed flawlessly.
It is economical to run and beautiful to drive.
We spent 3 months last year travelling the country and saw hundreds of these cars pulling all sorts of rigs. I made a point of asking as many as I possibly could about their experiences and without fail each one was the same story as mine.
Maybe the bad rap is really just fake news?
I love this thing so much I have just bought an My18 and it seems to be even better.

Love our car!
We bought a jeep after learning we were pregnant with our second child. Wanted something bigger, yet still luxurious.
We got one which has extra safety features which as side mirror notifications if someone is beside you and other things also.
Love the leather interior, dash and lights. A favourite thing is the heated seats in winter!

great suv but question service intervals
Have done 28000kms mostly towing just under 3 tonne caravan and hasn't missed a beat and does it easy as shown by incredible economy with last trip of 3000 km returning an overall 13.7 litres/100kms. my only question is the recommended service intervals having come from Mercedes with same 3 litre turbocharged diesel and 250000kms to 10000kms or 6 months. What do others think is this just for the dealers bottom line or really necessary.

Too many recalls
Bought it brand new. Looks good, feels good, solid build. Boot smaller than it appears, invested in roof box.
Unfortunately had 3 recalls so far, on top of 6 monthly servicing, that's just way too many costly trips to the dealership. They treat me nice, very friendly and professional, however every time I go there it inconveniences me. Latest thing is excessive fan noise, this is introduced by implementing S49 recalls. Now I need to go back to do recall for a recall. Not good enough Jeep.

Great vehicle, excellent 4X4 with exceptional fit, finish and options
I bought the Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland and find it absolutely amazing.
How many 2.2 ton vehicles get 33mpg, which are also 4 wheel drive?
How many vehicles, of the same price, have adaptive cruise control, air suspension, electronic locking diff and transfer case?
I owned my previous Jeep for 9 years, never missed a beat, still have it.
So I could have bought any other vehicle, but none compares, value for money.
I love all the doubters, bagging them, makes them great buying opportunities.

So far so great
Great all round car, Plenty of torque, Great interior with all the luxury of a car three times it's price, Off road ability is great (Overland with Off Road pack), Have traveled 40,000km in rural QLD so far over two years and never had a problem. Only thing I don't like is the Air Suspension when in Off Road mode (highest clearance) knocks when going over moderate bumps, but you only use it when you need to, so it's not an issue - but annoying.

2014 WK2 Overland
Regardless of the "Jeep" brand been known as crap and having issues. I did my research and found out that since Fiat brought Chrysler that the warranty issues minimized dramatically shortly after. I purchased my 2014 WK2 Overland brand new special order. From the day I got this vehicle to today, I think its amazing, drive very well, tows great, Handel's off road extremely well and loves the sand.
I think Jeep did a great job building this vehicle and strongly more people should venture out of their comfort zones of the Typical bloody Toyota, N...Read more

Great car but.....
Our second jeep, excellent car and good value for money, drives great plenty of power, fully serviced at jeep, 46000klms, I have had 2 issues only, while doing 110kph on the freeway fast lane the engine shut off for no reason, flashed low oil pressure, managed to get to the slow lane but no where to stop safely and was stuck protruding in the slow lane, called 000 and by the time the police got there I managed to start it and get in the next breakdown bay, checked the oil and everything was fine so I drove home and called the service centre to ...Read more
book in for an early service and check the car but found nothing wrong and they just reset the computer, then 2 x services later was driving 50kph on a back street and the engine started to make a bad knock noise like it broke a rod, pulled over and shut the engine off straight away, was full of oil but had an oil leak, jeep sent out Technicons and they said the engine sounds damaged, had it towed to the service centre, they found it broke a con rod bearing, jeep are replacing the complete turbo Diesel engine under warranty and have provided a similar replacement vehicle, dissapointed that this has happened and it cannot be explained. But still love the car and can't wait to get it back.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Bought a Heep
Great advert so decided to purchase a new Grand Cherokee Overland to tow our new 22' caravan. Salesman said there was no problem towing with this vehicle and yes, it towed. But once you got over 85kph the quad air suspension kicked in and the van was all over the road. After 5 months couldn't stand it any longer and traded it in for a 4 year old Land Cruiser which did the job beautifully. So now ... happy travels and happy caravanning. Mind you, if we weren't towing would definitely have kept it. Beautiful car to drive, ogre to tow.

Jeep Grand Cherokee 2013 MY14 Steering Wheel Locking Up while driving
The steering wheel locks up on you at anytime while you're driving. Five Dock Jeep have been trying to fix it for 1 year. Now they claim its impossible for it to happen, when I have emails saying they fixed it. I want a refund!
FCA is paying for an E Class Mercedes as a loan car going on to week 6 now. Clearly confident in their brand and product.
The major problems we have had with this car are:
* Steering wheel locking up while driving (can’t steer car) Has happened twice? and the dealer claims they can’t replicate the problem even tho...Read more
