Jim's Building Maintenance (page 2 of 2)
Kitchen reno well done
After some horrendous quotes the bloke from Jims spent time worki g through the figures with me and even recommended excellent value local suppliers. Work was done efficiently and effort was made (and appreciated) to try and keep the place clean during a messy reno. Top work! ☺
BE CAREFULL WITH JIM"S NON REGESTED BUILDERS IN VICTORIA
Just before Christmas I called Jim's Building service for a bathroom and ensuit renovation in Mill Park VIC, gave them my details 20 min later i get a call back from a contractor / builder OTG RENOVATIONS & HOME IMPROVMENTS. I told him that I'm looking for a ball park figure. He gave me a ball park between $15K - $20K and he sounded like he new what he was talking about in which I got what i needed. "Thank You for that", "I'll Speak to the wife and get back to you so we can arrange appointment after Christmas". I did a little homework and we...
Read morent on the VBA (Victorian Building Authority) website and learnt a little about building laws and requirements. In the state of Victoria, states any domestic building works more than $5000 must enter into a Major Domestic Building Contract in witch that it can only be performed by a Registered Building Practitioner. All Registered Practitioners have a Licence number starting with DB- then its limitation and number, Example: DB-U 00000, DB-L and so on or DB-M and so on. (Domestic Builder - Unlimited, Limited or Manager) So after Christmas I sent the Builder a text requesting his Registered Practitioners Licence number so i can check it on the VBA website. 20 minutes later he calls and tells me that there in the process and then waffled on about the VBA is a SCAM and that it make it more expensive and that he chooses not to be part of the VBA and that he is backed up by Jim's Building Services. So i said I'll call you in the new year and Left it at that. SO LET ME TELL YOU ALL, DO YOUR HOMEWORK AND BE CAREFUL OF FRUDULENT BUILDERS WORKING UNDER JIM"S BUILDING SERVICES & MAINTENANCE BANNER..- 7 reviews

Don't bother with the Geelong franchise
Requested a quote. Instead Cosmos called me to ask me to take pictures of the area and measure it up (for a deck) then he'd call back with a quote. Essentially, I was to do all of the work for the quote, and he didn't need to even attend the address. Not a great start, and as I am not interested in poor customer experiences, I am not going ahead with Jims.

A Job not quite right.....
After receiving quotes, we (body corporate and I) agreed to use [name removed] from Jim's Property Maintenance Services in Lyndhurst to replace a boundary fence and the neighbour's retaining wall. [name removed] completed the job in a tidy fashion but there are a few problems that are yet to be resolved:
1). Although he used galvanised screws to fix the rails to the fence posts, [name removed] used bright (not gal) nails on every fence pailing. After recent rain, there is evidence of surface rust already.
2). Upon being asked to return and us...

Horrible service! Would have had a crack myself it i knew it was THIS bad!
I had an interior wall repaired due to holes from the kids, the man [name removed] was awful, and he had a horrible attitude problem, i will be soon ringing the Jims hotline to complain
Hopeless
These guys are hopeless..... They offer free quotes and "no job is too small" lies. I never got a call back. I call them again and they say that they don't know when and if a tradie will be available and that they cannot guarantee a call back.... What!!!!!!

Jims - Don't bother!!
I booked a job for some timber repairs and plumbing to be done on my rental property. The timber job was ok, but the plumbing was a nightmare. What should have been a one day spouting job on a gutter, ended up taking 3 months.
After first attempt I was assured there were no leaks and system was leak tested. When I checked myself the spouting was leaking in a few locations. He said they would come back fix it and re-test it. Again after I was given assurances that the plumbing was tested and there were no leaks, I found leaks again. The system ...
Read morewas repaired several times, and because of this they damaged another part of the downpipe. At the end, the job was very substandard and they wouldn't even fix the downpipe they damaged. An absolute nightmare of a job. Keep away from these people. I cannot believe these people are doing such work!
Good and Quality Service
I had contacted Jims Building Maintenance to get a quote for decking job. I was contacted by [name removed] and he did provide me with a reasonable quote. I had also obtained quote from other contractors but was way to high than that was provided by [name removed]. Upon agreement he started the job the next day and has done a great job in getting it finished within 2 days. He did arrive early and worked through the completion within 2 days. Would highly recommend [name removed] for a quality job at reasonable price.
Quality Service
I contacted Jim's Building Maintenance for a quote to demolish and remove a small metal garden shed. Within 2 hours I had a very reasonable quote from them and arranged for him to come the following week. He turned up on time got the job done very quickly and cleaned up the site very well. Quality service in my book.
