Bought it 9 months ago to prepare baby food. Fruits mash or pureed cooked veggies and meat. The plastic of the blade has already cracks. I have to wash the lid as I prepare baby food and I want to be really clean. It fills up with water. The stick blades are running brown liquid, I first noticed in my baby's banana puree.
Disgusting!

At some stage we were going to fix our dwindling Breville juicer and blender combo, but it turned out to be more expensive than almost the replacement cost.
In the end, I was persuaded to purchase this Kenwood, at the time I couldn't really figure out what the difference was with this HDP406WH with the previous other than the fact that this model came with a lot o accessories in the box.
Originally I bought it through eBay where the Good Guys were selling it, at a cost of $99 along with a promotion plus a cashback gift card where I have s...
Read moreince just received as of writing this review considering I originally purchased this back on the 3rd of December 2015. The online store in which the Good Guys operated were out of stock. I had to wait till almost the end of January 2016 to receive the item. Overall, this thing according to my significant other can literally do it all. She makes smoothies, juices, mixing herbs and various other ingredients she claims is faster than what she would normally do with a knife. Easy-to-clean and takes very little space in the kitchen.Potato masher is only positive. Fiddly to get blade into position. When you tip out the batch, the blade FALLS out. Fiddly to get lid on. Have to align 3 lugs at same time align 3 grooves in lid, against a spring. The join between the 2 sections of lid allows juices to collect - food poisoning potential. Ditto, hole up shaft of blade catches food. Can't balance lid on an angle on the base to catch the juice, so messy work-area. I have made a few modifications to mine to make it more user friendly. Never again, Kenwood.

We chose to purchase this stick mixer over other cheaper options due to the metal stick (rather than plastic which may stain) and variable speed/turbo settings. We purchased it in Nov 2014 from David Jones and used it barely 20 times, mostly for banana smoothies and making breadcrumbs (so no really heavy-duty tasks). One day it was plugged into the power point but not in use (I was getting the ingredients together), I noticed that the unit felt hot and so turned it off at the power point, thinking it could be a fire risk. Then a couple of uses later it stopped working in the middle of blending. Of course the warranty is 12 months so it is just out of warranty, but I feel that for the price it is unacceptable. Won't buy Kenwood again.

Solidly average for this Kenwood stick mixer. We ordered this one online with credit card reward points, it replaced an old Sunbeam stick mixer which we had had for ages and was getting worn out. Most of the features of this stick mixer are great: solid main stick mixer attachment made of metal, feels good and sounds fast; mixer bowl with lid is good, works well, a bit fiddly with getting the blade in and out of the bowl and getting the lid on; other attachments are not used much by us. The main problem for us and the reason why we wouldn't buy...
Read more this one again is because of the lid of the bowl mixer, it says do not immerse, we figured the dishwasher would be ok, apparently not, the lid filled up with water on the very first wash and the water has never come out again. There is no way of separating the lid top and bottom to empty the water out and if we store the mixer with lid connected in our cupboard it leaks brown, stinky, rusty water into the mixer bowl from the lid and we can't use it without washing it. Now the mixer bowl and lid have become a permanent fixture in our drying rack because that is the only way to stop the lid from leaking into the bowl!! Super frustrating, our old stick mixer bowl had a lid that was open on the underside so no problems, I think Kenwood should change their design or at least make the lid come apart so the water could be emptied out.First time, the connector in the lid of the mixer snapped. Swapped for a new one, used it for 5 mins before it burnt out. Pressed the button and it made a faint whirring noise and that was it. Good Guys were helpful with the return/refund. Would not buy again.

Purchased a sunbeam platinum stick mixer - this was a good unit except for a silly tilt switch that turned it off when it was tilted from 30 degrees off centre despite the book saying 90 degrees. So I took the sunbeam back to the Good Guys and replaced it with the Kenwood which doesn't have a tilt switch and operates seamlessly. 800w of power with pulse mode and a dial for speed (dial is a little bit stiff to turn hut not bad) comes with a lot of accessories and for a price around $120 is a very good mixer. Very good unit.

Love this mixer, blends soup in literally seconds. Great attachments for different uses. Also like the small processor as I don't have to get my huge one out just to do a small sauce or herb mix. Love that it is easy to use, easy to clean and doesn't take up much space in the cupboard!

I bought this unit a couple of years ago and have had faultless service from it. I use it to blend protein shakes a couple of times a day and it has performed perfectly. I also use the bowl attachment to make fresh bread crumbs, which it does better than any other piece of kit I have ever used. The potato ricer attachment makes the smoothest mash I have ever eaten, although it is a little messy to clean The detachable heads are easily cleaned and if you get water in them, simply invert them to drain any liquid out. What I have found is that you...
Read more must seat the cutting heads properly so that they engage with motor unit properly. I don't try and get it to do the work of a blender, it has limitations as does any hand blender. A great product overall. I would buy another one in a heartbeat.Basically you get what you pay for. I've had the blender for 1.5 years so it's out of warranty and only used it about 15 times. Spoke to customer service who told me that I could take it to a service centre (licensed to them) and get it checked to see if it was faulty. I called the service centre and said it sounds like the motor so don't bother bringing it in because it can't be fixed, only replaced and because it is not under warranty, they won't replace it. What a waste of time and money!! Another note: Apparently the customer service person...
Read more I spoke to at Kenwood (actually delonghi and Braun) had never heard of this issue before?? I find that hard to believe given the amount of complaints I have read today. I'll never buy another Kenwood product.- 7 reviews

Have had the blender for 4 years now. Still works fine, however both the food processor and pan safe attachments trap food within the plastic. We never submerged the parts in water or washed in dishwasher, but find disgusting brown liquid leaking from the attachments. Decided to bin those attachments as they were obviously very unhygienic.

Burnt Motor - Was great for the time we had it, but used less than a dozen times
This product was purchased pretty much to puree apples, the only other thing I used it for was soup. I had it for a few years, but a dozen uses and now it has died. It felt rather hot tonight after minimal use so I unplugged it and waited half an hour. It didn't cool down and I needed to puree so I turned it back on and it shuts down the power in the house. Was great for the time we had it, but used less than a dozen times I would expect more. Very disappointed. All my attachments are still brand new, never used if anyone needs any!
In addition, I was advised the new motor would take a month to arrive, and when it did, was in fact, the wrong motor and does not fit my attachments.
I called Kenwood again and they asked me to retur...

After just 5 uses the Kenwood stick blender motor burned out. I had my previous stick blender for years. I liked the attachments alas, didn't get to use them. Not much else to say but the review panel requires more words. Couldn't find anywhere online to buy just the body / motor part.

The literature in relation to this piece of equipment well and truly overrates the quality of the product. I had it from brand new and used it only once, intermittently, for approximately 20 minutes overall. Had used an old 250W stick blender of another brand for ten years, for processing sauces and as it was getting a little tired decided on the more powerful model with allegedly 700W. After a maximum of twenty minutes of intermittent work, the motor failed, giving off smoke. Unfortunately I had purchased it some twelve months before requ...
Read moreiring it, so it was out of warrantee. I had to revert to using old faithful, which is still doing the job, but struggling for power. If this product failed blending tomato sauce, then expecting it to do any of the other jobs it is claimed to do is, in my view, highly unlikely. I don't believe I can justify giving this product a rating,- 2 reviews

The drive head, a plastic part that drives the attachments, broke and melted down. There are no spares available and it a poor design as seen by the number of other owners who have had the same problem. If parts like that are likely to break they should be easily replaced and easily sourced. There is too much bad design in the market place and the customers are stuck with it.
i have had 2 know and they both died after the 12 month warranty ran out. happy with it when it worked but just stopped working. great for mashing potatoes. great for pureeing soups . i always thought kenwood was a good brand but not sure now. not happy jan.

I had very little use out of this appliance as I found it to be unwieldily, clunky and unbalanced.
All the attachments were and are still great. The hand set simple died seconds into blending milk and eggs.
The only thinG I could see [ with a bright light] was that a piece of black plastic had sheered off the interior of hand set, after that nothing worked.
I found that, as the handset cannot be purchased separately, none of the attachments can be used.
As a longtime user of Kenwood products this was a disappointing end to what I thought would be a long lasting tool.
What was even more disappointing was the attitude of the person I spoke with when I called Kenwood - rude, off hand and dismissive.

We bought a Kenwood Hand Blender to replace a Moulineaux which had only lasted 23 years. Imagine my disgust when the Kenwood breaks down after 20 months because the plastic drive head on the hand piece disintegrates, and can't be repaired. When asked for a solution to the problem the repair Agent said we would need to buy a complete new unit, which is ridiculous, as all the components were still in good order, worked reasonably well and were easy to use. We were most disappointed when a simple drive flange rendered the whole lot useless. Sorry Kenwood you have good product which is let down by a poor component - you've now lost me as I'm not prepared to replace an item of this type every two years because of bad component design.
I have to advise that after posting this review I contacted Kenwood direct who agreed to replace the blender even though it was out of warranty, and contrary to what the service agent had said. Thank you Kenwood.
This blender is great! I bought it to replace a different recently purchased brand that failed because it didn't require the lid to lock into the bowl and so it chewed up the plastic because I didn't have it on properly. The Kenwood blender is simply, cheap and powerful. It is durable and comes with all of the attachments one would expect. Ready hand gadget that I use all the time!

Don't think you can get this and it will be able to crush ice or blend nuts. This machine is not very strong. It is hard to wash and the plastic that holds the blade cracks very quickly. Some of the attachments I never used and in the end I spent the extra $100 and bought a Sunbeam food processor.

I had this stick mixer for only a short time before it decided it would rather live in landfill than in my kitchen. I was wizzing choc ripple biscuits for a cheesecake base (which I had done many times before) and it just died. I too had thought that Kenwood was a good brand. I always found the lid of the chopper a bit fiddly too.
The spud masher part was really good though.
I wish I could remember the brand I had last time, that thing lasted 7 years and copped a thrashing.
I bought one of these tri blade blenders 2yrs ago. Very light use during this time and it died this week from the kids making smoothies! The soup blending attachment was excellent, but the chopping bowl was not at all useful. The black 'o rings' regularly come off the top of one of the attachments, getting stuck in the hand unit. This meant you couldn't fit the other the attachments on. Took me a while to work that one out! Looking to buy another brand this time.
I was so impressed with this product when I first purchased it, I bought two more and gave them as gifts.
Unfortunately all three broke down. I replaced mine twice under the warranty but the last one I only used a couple of times and it packed up. I could not recommend anyone to buy this product.
The two plastic containers have broken - the one needed for processing went first, The litre one went second and I think I have only used it the once or twice. A number of attachments are not dishwasher safe so get water inside them which cant be good for health or mechanisms, My advice would be don't buy it.
