I have had running lights fitted to a 2018 Cerato Sport - fitted by an auto electrician, They work fine coming on with the ignition and going off when the headlights come on.

Pity. At night it's hard to see to get the ignition key in. Even my old 13 year old Falcon had a light there.

My 2015 YD Screen has just gone black, have it booked in next week with a Kia Dealership to see if it will be fixed under warranty. Hope I get a Map upgrade at the same time

I'm loving my Kia Cerato Sports +. Only negative I can say is the cruise control is not as great as my Mitsubishi Magna (1999). Having said that, all new Japanese and Korean cars have similar steering wheel cruise control may have the same issue. Otherwise, the car is a gem for the last 2 months, I have done over 6000km. My dealer is great too. Great fuel consumption, it is constantly running under 8L/100km, this is mostly city and traffic with little bit of freeway.

I had a Cerrato car hire. Very good control. Can't complain about it.

Without damaging anything, best thing is to take it to the dealer to check it out. Else, any auto electrician can check it, but not sure if they can fix. That is what I would do.

Took it to dealer yesterday and they said the satnav unit will be replaced and needs approval.

mine just blank... even the reverse camera stop working... i thought came out itself.. after i press reset button then radio sound come out..there is nothing in the screen just drop dead... i have to contact dealer to find out..probably they would say replace the sat nav HU, I did replace in late 2014, i guess they put the same one with different version on it after certain years drop dead...what a dissapointed

It is noisy, but as not as Mitsubishi ASX or Ford EcoSport. I have driven them all for extended periods and Cerato & Hyundai 130 are the two best cars for me. I have not tried other brands or other models. In my opinion, it's the tires make most noise while driving. Engine noise you need to hear a bit, otherwise, it is not safe in city areas or in car parks.

Yes, I bought the Cerato Sport Hatch 2017/18 and at first it was quiet but now the motor is noisy and it hasn't even done five thousand kilometres yet and it seems to get stuck in 3rd gear after going up a hill then when the road flattens out it stays in 3rd and I have to take foot off the accelerator to get it out of 3rd gear. But the motor has gotten noisier since buying it.

I purchased the new Kia Cerato sports BD MY19 in August 2018. Everything fine up until 2months ago when on startup I can hear a ticking noise. Took it back to car dealer so they could do a cold start. They did that and also used a brand new one which did the same. I said I didn't have any noise when I bought it. They said new cars do this ??? Surely they can quieten the fuel injectors, it sounds like a diesel driving down the road. NOT HAPPY JAN. I suppose one thing is the 7-year warranty.

I am also facing this exact same issue. There is no signal. Does not detect the exact location where the car is.

I've been told it's a GPs antenna issue.

Did you get it fixed? was it covered under warranty that comes with the car?? Or did it cost you some money?

Yes mine has done that...I am afraid to pull the plastic off.

i had the same problem until i used the usb cable that came with the phone,its been good since i changed it 2 months ago,hope this helps.Bob.

I can't answer this but I have the same thing going on, I bought the car new in December 2017 Cerato Sport Hatch and noticed it revs out and doesn't change gears properly, I don't understand why it drops to a lower gear on a slight up hill and then stays in the low gear when the road flattens out and reving at 4 rpm.when it goes on for the service I will discuss it with them. Hasn't done 5000ks yet.

When a battery fails, the electronic memory chip maintains the information as and when the battery went flat, but sorry to say, it is only for a limited time then it's all lost; often, this is caused when lights are left on 'Auto Sunset Settings', which I always use, however, if you do this, and you have a memory laps often, it'll pay to take your light off 'Auto' and put them on manual.

When the RACQ and or mechanics disconnect the battery, they connect an alternate power source to the car and then disconnects the battery; because how the car's running is all kept on a microchip, power to that chip is crucial so when connected to the reader, it tells the mechanic all he needs to know on how the vehicle is or is not running and if not, where and how it isn't running correctly. An analogy could be if you remove the battery to your computer, you go away on holiday, come back and put the battery back into the computer and try and boot it up, you will then see how crucial that battery is and that without power, it well may be, 'Lights Out' and no computer! Always carry a battery tester, it's only a few dollars, then if you have left you light on, check the battery's power before you start the car, starting the car might be the last thing needed to flatten the battery altogether; if in doubt call the RACQ out!

Sorry cannot help you as just bought my 1st Kia [2017 model ] and still working things out. You may do good if you contacted the motoring writers that are in Saturday's Daily Telegraph.They seem to have the answers to this sort of problem.

its a very common problem as it is a poor quality screen. what is worse the sat nav gives out dangerous directions .
Example in 300m turn right is the correct way and on other instances it will say turn right, pause a little and then say in 300 meters.

it can puts the driver in a dangerous position as the directions are conflicting and can confuse the driver.

kia knows this and should change all existing sat navs to the new apple car play. The current model kia apple carplay will fit your car but kia will try to tell you that it cant be done and that there isnt a problem.

on top of all of this kia has had no updates for the sat nav since its release since 2014 as they stopped using this sat nav and have no updates at all.
when you go in for service they will tell you current updates are installed as this coveres them. They know very well of these issues but would rather treat the customer's as idiots.
Don't even start me on the poor vision you get from the screen that is a different problem that kia refuses to acknowledge.
keep pushing for a new sat nav that is in the current model Cerato. Do not waste your time getting them to change it for the same one.

Thanks for that, luckily I have taken it back to Kia, and they replaced it with a new one with apple play free or charge.

It falls under the warranty, so I'm happy for that.

According to the dealership who recently serviced mine there is no adjustment as the camera is screwed permanently into 1 place.

You'd think there would be slotted holes to allow for adjustments but there isn't any. I've learned to live with it.

f you are not satisfied get an independent assessment and take it further.
It definitely sounds out of the norm.

Check the wheel alignment. Just because it was done in the factory, doesn't mean that it's ok. I have a 2016 with 53,000 on it and it travels in a straight line perfectly

You're problem is another's solution. I have faced the same with my GPS mounted externally, so an adjust is necessary. I don't have sat nav hooray, but a little shade from the top of the day will help darken the screen for it to do its job. Otherwise orientate your car to see better. Lastly I would consider installing some tints to do a better sun screening. DIY job from start to finish. Otherwise you've bought the wrong car!

Totally agree, due to the screen being nearly flush with the dash any sun on the dash makes media/gps/reverse screen unusable. This is/was my biggest (apart from the thick side pillars) gripe with the Cerato. My car does have window tint - doesn't help when sun comes through the windscreen. I considered making or purchasing a small sun shield to place around the unit - but never got around too it. Due to a faulty DVD I recently had my media unit replaced and Kia upgraded it to the Carplay unit - it is brighter and I haven't noticed Sun/glare issue since getting this newer unit.

Hopefully kia sought it out shortly, please do not compare a external gps to a fixed gps, there is no point to compare them. The issue is with the poor screen and placement that allows it to be washed out by the sun. I also have tints and it does not make a difference. The more i talk to cerato owner's the more i see that this isn't an isolated problem but one kis wishes to avoid. The screen is actually dangerous, on some ocassions as you have to cover the screen to read it. This is not acceptable by any means and other car brands do not have this issue.

If they wont fix under warranty contact the ombudsman

Keep pushing the dealer / Kia. Also try ringing other dealers. Sometimes they will help but the dealer who serviced the car is best. Also ring your state consumer protection agency if no immediate response.
Hopefully you have a service record ... stamped for each scheduled service. If not, get your receipts together and/ or reconstruct one from other records. Note who did the service and dates. 15000km or 12 monthly service required.

Keep a really good record of who you speak to/visit and when. I get pretty sick of working up the food chain. If the Kia service centre doesn't give you satisfaction, identify the CEO of KIA Aust and sent him a letter (not a phone call or email) . Obviously include your service history and the names/businesses you have contacted and tell him what you expect as compensation. I'd also include a copy of your letter to ieatwords. It's faintly succinct. Good luck, it sounds like you have right on your side.
