2015 Cerato SLi Fantastic vehicle.
Performance is great. In fact the next model (current) has a slightly less powerful 2.0L turbo engine. Very happy with the vehicle. The only problem is, we are waiting for the 3rd warranty changeover of the touch panel as the GPS keeps randomly blacking out. Nuisance is that each time it has taken two weeks to order in the part only to find the same fault in the new one.

Smooth, powerful and sleek - But dealership service disappoints!
Drove a friend's 2016 Cerato and I was so impressed that I bought one for myself. The main reason: very comfortable chair, powerful, sleek (sedan), and smooth.
I have owned Hyundai's and Kias before and they are pretty trouble free and solid. They have come a long way on the handling department.
Unlike most other Kia's/Hyundais, the cerato MY2017 has a decent power to weight ratio, and is reasonably punchy.
Problem I had is that mine had a vibration on the steering wheel from day 1. I got my cerato with an upgrade for the wheels. The...Read more
dealership carried the work as part of a deal. I suspected it was a balancing issue. Made a claim under the warranty, and after a test drive in the highway where the vibration is very present was told that car is "normal". How do you argue with that? you say it vibrates (and it does), he says it doesn't while holding the steering wheel (which vibrates)?

Great car
This has been a very good car without any problems.
The one time i had a problem they told me to bring it in and they fixed it while i waited 10 ( Idling rough computer update )
Only thing i dont like about the car is it is fitted with soft compound tyres ( Cheapies ) i will only get 60.000 kls out of them but i knew that when i bought it as i read reviews on the net. Apart from that would recommend it to anyone i am very happy with it. They just need to put better tyres and it would be the perfect car.
Just to let you know about Tyres i have had car for 3 yrs now and just changed tyres after 64.000 ks not to bad im happy with that. Still running well.

so far so good
Drives beautifully, very quite.Interior nicely finished and plenty of leg room an major concern as i am pretty tall.
So far very reliable and on a say 500 km trip fuel consumption is very good around about 6 litres per 100km,around town up to about 8 litres per 100km Driver and passenger seats are very confortable
October 7th 2017 Update: Happy
Driving my kia is a pleasure,we have just return from a trip up to North Queensland and traveled about 500 km a day,the seats are very comfortable and the car is very quite on the road.instruments are very easy to read .
As i am tall and usually have trouble with legroom plenty of room in the Kia
Fuel consumption 5.9l per 100km even cruising at 110km per hour

Good car with bad fuel milage
I own a brand new KIA cerato 2016. The car is fine with very few complaints. The worst part is shocking fuel milage compared to other similar cars. I live in Sydney and do mostly city runs and struggle to get anything below 10ltrs/100km. Highway run has been very good with as low as 5ltrs/100km.

A surprisingly good drive.
I rented a car for 12 days and covered about 1500 km.
The good points -
comfortable driving position with all controls intelligently placed,
good engine power and excellent 6 speed auto transmission,
generous sized boot,
fuel consumption fine at 6.93L per 100km with 80% country/20% city driving,
suspension well sorted, steering light and easy.
Not so good -
crazy cruise control which is fine for flat and uphill but it tries too hard going down hills, even changing down to 3rd gear which makes the engine rev loudly,
FM radio reception was not much good outside a 35km radius from town.

Love my Kia
My Kia cerato sedan drives perfectly. Handles well and was comfortable driving it as soon as I drove it out of the dealership.
Beautiful exterior and interior. Very roomy and comfortable to sit in.
I did purchase the basic S model but for only an extra $500 I got the 7 inch screen and reverse camera which was well worth it. The later model looks better then the early release one. The new grill looks awesome.
I was looking at the Mazda 2 and the i30 as I only wanted to spend around the 20 k mark. I am SO glad I went into Kia. Cerato ...Read more
is by far more superior then the above mentioned in my opinion. The other two can't compete almost like they are in a different league then the cerato. More like its competitor is the Elantra and Mazda 3 but way cheaper and longer warranty. The only negative is I have to wait for Apple play to be avalible. All though it is for free.Similar opinion? Don't waste your time on a Kia
The car is quite nice in its price range. SLi being the top of the range model, interiors are nice and the leather seats are comfortable. However the factory fitted navigation unit has failed thrice till date and KIA have replaced the unit all 3 times. The 4th unit is working fine till date (fingers crossed)
The car drives well but I find that it is a bouncy over potholes and bumps. I have checked with various tyre pressures and also got the suspension tested but it looks like that's the design of the car.
Have dealt with 3 different KIA servic...Read more

LOVE IT!!!
Have had my top of the range Kia Cerato Sedan for a year now. Love it!
Have not had any issues. Services have gone perfectly at Northern Motors Greensborough.
Comfortable, smooth and very stylish.
Love all the added extras, seat warmers, and seat cooler, navigation system, Bluetooth, sun roof.
Perfect car for me.
Lots of room and the kids in the back are not squished in.
Will only ever buy a KIA again.

Excellent vehicle - spoiled by inferior GPS and screen placement
February 2022. Still going very well. Mainly long distance driving over the last six months - 600k on weekends to a new house we're working on) No complaints, vehicle remains very tight, no rattles amd MPG is excellent around 5.9l per 100k on long runs. (We cruise at 110k usually and our total mileage is 120,000k) St Nav works fine. Considering the latest model. Will test drive soon. Highly recommended vehicle.
Summary, October 2018. Vehicle has performed excellently. Only regular servicing and has clocked up 80,000k, mainly long distance driv...Read more
ing. Economy ex-city averages around 5.5 to 6.5 litres per 100 - usually with a heavy load. Vehicle remains tight, no rattles or squeaks. Now considering purchasing the latest model (2019?) - waiting to see what KIA produces. All round this vehicle has been value for money, comfortable, economical and reliable. One of the best cars I've owned since my first back in 1965 (EH Holden) May 6. Finally some action thanks to Sunshine Motors, Gold Coast. GPS/Media unit was replaced with the new version and to date works fine. (The new version comes with an adapter harness so that it can be retrofitted into the earlier model - I have been told that some KIA agents refuse to fit the system using the excuse of "incompatible cables and plugs". I suggest this is not true and another example of KIA Australia trying to avoid their warranty obligations. ) Even the screen is more tolerant of bright light - I suspect it's a daylight screen vs the old box brownie viewer version of the original. KIA Australia weren't much help, refusing to admit the obvious (read text). Map updates are scheduled to be made available annually for the Apple/Google system (Plus you can run yr iphone or Android phone's GPS into the dash screen) the old system hasn't had updates since 2013. One question this raises is, how will existing legacy units be updated? Maps appear to be all 2013 versions and if the manufacturer is discontinued, how will existing users get map updates? There's a huge area along the NSW east coast Pacific Highway that's near completion, and will require updating - with KIA's legacy system, one finds the vehicle meandering through cow pastures and fording streams. KIA should bight the bullet and upgrade every vehicle that has the legacy system - or are we going to see a rerun of the VW saga? Over to you on this KIA.Similar opinion? 1 year and it's dead
Started making a rattle sound when accelerating. Take it in to find out what issue is causing it only to be told it needs a new engine already 25,000k's in. I'm without it for a month and dealership Unsure if warranty would cover or not due to cost of replacement. Could be the highest paid lemon I've ever purchased.

Cabin Noise/Road Noise
Cerato is a great car. What a let down with cabin noise!! Can't use car phone, can't be heard! Have to drive with the window slightly open to reduce the drone noise. Can't use the air con!! Performance is great, handling is great, dashboard & legroom are great, reliability & running costs are also great. So far no help!!

KIA Cerato SLi Sat/Nav GDI - Update 110,000km's
OK - the car has just reached 110,000km! Mechanically great, at the 105,000 service no issue. I have put a tow bar on it and just towed a 4.3M boat to 100km/h but of course on 20mms, I wouldn't suggest going long distance.
The ininterior is beginning to show some age particularly the drivers seat, I'm 84kg so if you are 100kg then the seats may flatten.
How to read my review - I add a paragraph at each service or at each key milestone - which is really just a regular blog style update.

p Victoria, NSW and QLD - all types of roads and conditions, lots of country and freeway driving, mechanically doing really well - fuel economy low 6 litre/100km's - previously I did get 5.4litre/100 km, but this time no so. After the last service the fuel efficiency dropped a little - will check what this is about. The rear passenger side window problem resurfaced - so it does not wind! Otherwise all is good. We went through some very dusty roads there was no leaking into the cabin so happy with this, did some 22% grade roads and winding rough surface roads the car handled these well - the suspension seemed very adaptable and even corregations did not cause too much change of character. The car now needs a good wash..... I just had the 60,000km service, this cost $475.00 Aud, there were no additional costs. They changed the oil, fluids, hepa filter, fuel pump filters, etc. There is a noticeable improvement in acceleration, so I think changing/checking the fuel system earlier would be a good idea...it could be due to poor quality/dirty fuel being provided by the local stations. I will assess this at the next 15,000km service. There were no issues from the service, they did notice my brakes were due for replacement, but I had indicated I would do this myself.Similar opinion? Yep I agree about Sat Nav and Tyre Noise
If I was repurchasing a YD Cerato I'd opt for an aftermarket navigator, they're Les troublesome, and at least you can set them without running the engine.
Tyre noise is woeful, and I agree that you can't hear the radio on the highway. If the SatNav version had SDVC (speed dependent volume control), as installed in lower grade models, it might be a bit easier to live with. I've purchased a set of 16 inch YD wheels and tyres in the hope that the extra inch of rubber reduces road noise.

Fitted 16 inch mags from a 2015 S Premium model and on a recent trip from Brisbane to Hunter region, road noise levels were marginally quieter, with a slight improvement in ride.
The sat/nav/radio needs replacing again. The second time now under warranty. Does Kia have a permanent fix for these things?
I’d hate to think what it’ll cost to replace it when out of warranty, whi... Read more

Great car to drive.
Purchased new in Nov 2014 this is a very comfortable and easy car to drive with 11 months trouble free motoring. It has a very quiet cabin, you can hardly hear the engine when pulled up at traffic lights. Fantastic economy on long trips as well as around town, with a smooth responsive 1,8 litre engine. With 7 year warranty it is great value for money with fixed price servicing and road side assist. Looked after with professional servicing at Gateway motor group Fairy Meadow.

Love my Kia... but!
Reference to review on Jan 6th.
I suffered same problem with stalled accelerator... only once, so far. Was explained by service as caused by pure electric accelerator. No longer directly linked by cable. Any stutter by you on the pedal may cause this. Had service, they said 'no problem'. Went to Queensland and back no prob'. Still... VERY dangerous!!

Fantastic Car
I purchased 1 year ago the Cerato Si sedan. Absolutely love it. From the feel of the leather wrap wheel, height adjustment of the drivers seat, the sleek looks and the space. I seriously can not fault it. I purchased the 6 speed manual. It even tells you when to change the gears! It also has something to stop you rolling back on a hill. Not quite sure what it is called, but very handy in a manual car. I compared between this and the Hyundai Elantra. The Kia won hands down. The fittings were better, the upholstery was better everything. The push...Read more
button start is a bit of a fun feature, as well as the mirrors fold back automatically when the doors are locked. Once the doors are unlocked, especially at night, you will see that on the bottom of the mirror, is has a down light so you can see. There are also rear lights. When you have your headlights on, you can have an option to have rear lights.... As you can see, I could ramble for ever about it. Would recommend to anyone.Similar opinion? Great value
We bought a 2014 Kia Cerato Si sedan four months ago as our first family car. I have to say that it is a dream to drive. The engine is soo quite and it is an easy car to drive with all its features such as the parking senses and rear camera. The boot is fairly spacious I am able to fit our big babyjogger pram as well as the grocery shopping. My husband and I are very pleased with our purchase and have nothing negative to say about this car.
Easy to drive, spacious boot, looks good

Kia Cerato is complete car
Bought a new Kia Cerato Si sedan model two weeks ago, it has got good pick up, gives 7.5 ltrs per 100km in normal driving, expect it will be better in highway driving. I use comfort mode for steering which is good for me. Overall a good value for money with rear camera, sensor, push button start for the price. Worth considering this car.

Not happy. Too much road noise. No speed sensitive volume control. Compromised security not allowing only driver's door to unlock before opening other three.
On highway cruising only saving about $1.80 per hundred km as opposed to the more comfortable relaxed drive the VZ commodore provided.

Satellite navigation broken the second time...
It is a no doubt a good car but given the dealership after sales service, the waiting time to get the faulty item replace or inspect you may have to wait for up to 10 days to get the appointment. The worst thing is I have waited 3 weeks in total to get my sat nav replaced. I was happy about it after it has been replaced, but it didn't long last. After 2 weeks the same problem occurs. Now have to go through the same problem to get the sat nav inspect then replace... I would say the only let down for Kia is the dealership is owned independently...
