Disappointed is an understatement

This toaster is a pain. I only ever have it set on 2 as any higher just burns my toast, but only cooks on one side and leaves the other side soft. It burns the edges of my toast even on 2. I also have a mixer and absolutely love it and thought my money would be well spent. Better off just buying a $30 toaster

Birthday gift- such a disappointment

Was given this toaster by my mother for my birthday two weeks ago. I feel terrible because it's absolute rubbish and I didn't want to tell her. I've not had a single piece of toast that isn't burnt, even in the lowest setting. It burns the crust while not touching the inside. I've discarded to box and because she bought it for me, I don't know what to do. Honestly, for such a good brand, I would have expected a better product. Why are they still selling this?

Extremely dissapointed

After hiding the cost of this appliance from my husband, I can't believe how poorly it performs. The toast is never cooked evenly, the edges burn but middle is raw, I need to cook on dark setting then have to re cook on setting 1 to get it brown, I don't know if it is faulty or this is the standard of the product, but by looking at other reviews it seems that there are many issues with other customers. I've only had it for 2 weeks, I'll contact customer service and ask is this is what I should expect or not from a $200 toaster!

Dissapointed

Have had this one week to replace a Kitchenaid Artisan 2 slice toaster (lasted 3 years) which we were very happy with. This long slot toaster either burns the bread or leaves it under-cooked. Browning is also uneven with one side browner and the other underdone. I should have read these reviews before purchasing it. This is the first disappointment we've had with a Kitchenaid product.

Terrible Toaster

I wish I read these reviews before I bought this terrible toaster. As above it burns the edges of the toast to a crisp and leaves the middle uncooked setting off the smoke alarm each time. It's unusable. I will be taking it back to the shop tomorrow and demanding my money back, it simply just does not work. Did they not test it first before asking people to pay $160 for a piece of junk - it's outrageous really. I've taken a video of it destroying my bread and setting off the alarm so I can show the shop!!!

As with other reviews on this site, our purchased toaster just did not toast. The closest we could get was setting it on maximum / darkest setting, and after that finished, re-setting to 2 (or 3 - it varies) and re-toasting the bread. Sometimes it takes another re-toast, sometimes it is acceptable.
We complained to Kitchenaid, and to be fair they immediately sent a replacement and told us to dispose of the original. Unfortunately the second toaster has the same issues.

Form over function

My Kichenaid Artisan long slice toaster looks beautiful, but it doesn't toast. After putting it in for two, perhaps three, times one side is burnt, the other side is not cooked. It seems to me that it is set too low and even toasting rarely happens . The most annoying thing is that the edges burn while the middle is uncooked. I have tried various types of breads: most burn... eventually. l will be complaining to my supplier. l want a refund/replacement. I have never had such a useless expensive product.
