Don't waste your money
Sick of buying cheap toasters that eventually stopped working I bought a kitchenaid. It definitely looks the part. Solid construction and for a while it worked really well. But then after about two years the element went and it was useless. For the price I expected considerably more than two years out of it. Might as well buy cheap ones that need to be replaced after two years than a very expensive one that lasts no longer than the cheap ones. Save your money . It's not worth the price.
Purchased in June 2021 at Williams-Sonoma.

Outstanding toaster
Superb toaster.
We toast many types of bread from high moisture sourdough, multigrain, through to light wholemeal sandwich bread both frozen and fresh. The ergonomics of this toaster are excellent with all the clearly marked controls on the narrow end so it takes up less bench space. The lever shade control is useful throughout it's full range from the lowest setting for 'a little bit more' to almost the highest for very heavy rye sourdough. The large range makes for perfect toasting after a period of getting used to the range settings.

frozen and bagel settings actually work. We haven't tried the sandwich feature yet. This toaster is built like a tank and looks superb. Even the crumb tray is bright chrome and reflects the heat back into the toaster. The automatic lowering and raising is a great feature along with the accompanying bell ding! This is the best performer we have had since the Sunbeam Toastermatic failed many years ago when the bi-metal strip fractured. This old toaster had a mechanical slider shade control similar to the Kitchen Aid and automatically lowered and raised the bread. The controls on all the toasters we have had since are almost impossible to set accurately to achieve the results we get from the Kitchen Aid or from our old Sunbeam Toastermatic.Purchased in March 2021 for $239.99.

Excellent toaster until it fails
I bought this toaster in 2015 and it always made perfectly browned toast. Why do I give it a terrible rating then? Because the element shorted last week, and it is impossible to be repaired. I called the premium service centre and KitchenAid itself and was told the same thing. When I bought it, it cost $400. To have a very expensive toaster be impossible to repair is unforgivable, both from a customer experience perspective and environmental waste. If you have one of these toasters already, I suggest you a very vigilant in ensuring there ar...Read more
e no loose bits of bread left in the toaster to avoid shorting the elements; I thought I had been but evidently was not. If you do not have one, save your money because KitchenAid is not interested in your satisfaction post purchase, nor caring about landfill.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

So far so good
This ranks number one in toaster category according to one of the consumer guides out there. Very pricey but I bought it during promotion which saved me 20% off RRP. Consistent toasting area (both sides) and fast warming up. Other than that nothing much special. Hopefully it lasts long enough to justify the hefty price tag.
