First couple years fine all down hill after that
How can I not post personal details? When my tractor won't start unless I turn the flywheel a little by hand so the starter will engage, and after I get it started it won't shut off I got to open the hood and kill it by hand. I can't turn to sharp or the tires keep spinning and tears up my lawn. Other than it cuts just fine

Practical Well Made Machine
When we bought our property, some 25 years ago, we simply reduced the lawn (20,000 sq f) to the third of its size for lack of time to take care of it all. When we retired, we reclaimed the abandoned lawn. I had previously used a Honda HRA self propelled mower but it was no longer adapted to the task at hand.
Some of the land is flat but there is a rather long and steep slope in front of the house. A two wheel drive ride on lawn mower would simply skid down that slope providing the most unpleasant feeling to the operator (I tried it once). Aft...Read more
er some shopping, I decided in favor of a brand new Kubota GR2120. Its a ride on 3 cyl diesel, liquid cooled, hydrostatic transmission, permanent 4WD, available with a 48 or 54 inches mower. It features a "Glide Steer" system by which the outer rear wheel disengages upon turning the steering wheel, thus insuring that improper wheel speed would not scrape the lawn (like a compact tractor would do). Its operation is straight forward, the 3 blades mower provides a very nice finish to the lawn. It climbs and drive down slopes with ease. Seat is comfortable with an adjustable loaded spring suspension. Level of noise at full throttle, especially with the mower working, is quite high and auditive protection is to be considered. It can easily pull its own weight (900 pounds) with a proper cart and I haul firewood, dirt and rocks without problem. Does not take much fuel to operate, although I could not specify the quantity per hour of operation. Maintenance is easy with a number of zerks to attend as well as oiling some moving parts. Changing motor oïl requires the mower deck to be removed wich is easy. The only hassle when putting it back is the drive shaft connection which is a bit tricky (it seems you have to turn it into the exact same position it was when disconnected). Air filter is easy to access and clean. Air flow to cool the radiator is forced away from the driver and an easily accessible protective screen needs to be cleaned of hay particles Inside the motor compartment. This machine is a lawn mower/utility tractor and not a compact tractor: there is no hydraulic outlets other than those used for lifting the mower deck and operating the power steering. Transmission cases are made out of aluminium and not steel. So, you have to determine precisely what your needs and projected use are. I only have 130 hours of operation on it so far. No problem whatsoever. Very comfortable to use and it perfectly meet my needs. ADDDED NOTE: the GR2120 markedly differs from the previous model GR2110 which was plagued by serious problems: transmission has been modified to make it more sturdy and rods have replaced cables to actuate the Glide Steer.

Junk
Glide steer cable broke. The mower deck gear box has leaked from day one, repaired twice and still leaks even after the dealer put in 90w gear oil. Great broke in transmission ($975 to repair), hood broke off and is attached with bungee cords. Dealer was terrible to work with.

Find out how Kubota Lawn & Garden Tractor compares to other Ride-On Mowers
Know better, choose better.
Good
good reliable machine, watch out for predecessor-plagued with transmission failures after 100 hours or so and glide steer cable premature failures
very tight turning circle
very pricey machine, for around $2000 extra you get a compact tractor with 3pt linkage

This is better than good - its invaluable.
I tossed up whether to go for a full on BX2150 or 1850 tractor, in the end choosing a GR2110 lawn tractor. Our property is too hilly and obstacle filled for a tractor, although i was very tempted as the extra PTOs would be handy.
I really like the compact GR2110, it is so nimble it will turn in its own length. As noted above, it did catch me out on a 45 deg hill spinning the front wheel trying to reverse, had to plough forward in the end. The one incident on a hilly property in 10 months (around 30 hours) use.
Over all i would rate it highly...Read more
, its built like a brick *&^*house, if you bump into anything it will usually just brush it off. The deck is thick enough to be welded if required, and the liquid cooled diesel will run all day smoothly. --------------------------------------- 2016 update.. (after 242 hours) --------------------------------------- Other than paying for a service every 18 months or so, there have been no hidden expenses or issues with this lawn tractor - it still purrs away like a new one. Our local Kubota mechanic advises the same 3 cylinder diesel motor is used for a number of purposes, such as refrigeration units and pumps - they are started and basically run flat out all day. He has been servicing them for years, in his opinion they are bullet proof.Purchased in February 2021.

What make and weight motor oil is recommended for Kubota lawn tractors?
2 answers
For the Kubota GR2020, the owner manual says 10W30 for warm climate and 5W20 or 5W30 for cold climate.
For your information it may happen that the mower gearbox oozes the recommended thin transmission fluid. Mine did. The dealership had me replace it with Kubotal gearoil. Just in case you want to know... Robert
Thanks so much for sharing!

Is there an adjustment to make gr2120 go a little faster in reverse?
1 answer
Yes. If you look at the base of the pedal controling forward and backward movement, you will see a small bolt held by two nuts that limits the backward travel of the pedal. You can modify the setting of that bolt, so the pedal will have a slightly longer travel backward, thus making for more reverse speed.

I would like to have the assembly instructions for Models GR22110 please
1 answer
The assembly instructions manual for the GR2110 is probably available online. Unfortunately, I do not have it, since my own lawn tractor is a GR2120. Greetings. Robert.
