Lenovo Ideapad - Terrible Waste of Time and Money. Unable to be repaired in Australia
The Lenovo Ideapad 80SJ wasn't a cheap Laptop. Within the first day, during charging, the battery was smoking and caught fire. The unit was replaced by the store in the same day.
The replacement unit has failed TWICE and been sent away for repair to a Lenovo Service Centre twice. Lenovo do not carry parts and a replacement part needs to be ordered from overseas. This means a new laptop still under warranty has to be at a service centre for three or four weeks waiting for parts.
A NEW laptop under warranty should not be away for so long. L...Read more
enovo do not replace faulty laptops, they just repair them multiple times until your warranty finally runs out and you have to pay. They use stalling tactics until you have no more warranty. Be aware of this. The battery life is nowhere near what is claimed and the keypad keys keep failing. Most recently 17 keys on three rows of the keyboard do not work and have to be held down quite hard to get a response. Lenovo's call centre is overseas and they cannot help but they do tell you to have a nice day.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Big Bright and Quiet - but keyboard is no good.
UPDATE It has been 11 months. I must mention that the keyboard is not satisfactory - I frequently mistype probably due to the lack of travel in the keys. Also, a slight gap has developed in the base of the screen housing. Downgraded to 2 stars.

This new Lenovo 700 17 inch has a large, high resolution screen that is very easy on the eyes. It does not feel a lot smaller than my work PC, but I can sit anywhere, with two of my favourite places being the couch and bed. Other things I'm particularly plea...Read more

I bought Lenovo ideapad 700 17" in Nov 17. it's a high spect and it was expensive!
In the last few months just after the warranty expires, most keys on the middle row has stopped working.
Sometime they don't work or double / triple of the keys pressed.
It is really frustrating.
I called support, they said it is out of warranty and want to charge me to fix.
I told them why this problem only happens to Lenovo and not other brands, such as Dell, HP that I have owned? It is Lenovo specific issue. Lenovo should fix for free for customer.
This is the first laptop in 20 years that I have this problem.
I have owned other brands, they've never had this problem at all.
This is the first and the last buy of Lenovo. A very problematic product.

Yes, the keyboard is no good. I have to be careful to press hard. Mine is not as bad as yours, but I agree it was a bad design, and Lenovo should replace it for you.
I wish I could give Lenovo 0 stars as a score. Luckily I’m in a position where we removed 437 Lenovo units and replaced them with much better HP laptops with much better support. HP actually likes their customers. Lenovo like making a sale but once they cash that cheque they abandon you. You're on your own.
