Yucky brown algae
The machine grows brown algae that is hard to get rid of. Even after using a bleach plus baking soda on the clean cycle, the algal growth gets killed, but then becomes a sandy residue.
Then there will be about 7 clean washes before the algal growth comes back again.
The most frustrating washing machine ever.

I will never buy LG Again What Rating??
Over the few years we have had this machine I have always noticed lots of lint on the clothing. Then a while ago my wife bought some expensive light coloured sheets, they all have brown spots on them now. I thought it was the way my wife was washing the clothes, but now after reading the reviews I understand that it was the machine. Then today the drain pump stopped working. So I got on the net. Clean the filter they say, that is LG. Put a towel on the floor to catch the water. What 50 litres of water, fortunately I had the sense to empty t...Read more
he machine first, even if they don't let you know. The filter was cleaned three times however the pump would not work. Phoned the local repairer to come and fix it. Because I live 30 minutes drive form the repair shop I have to bring it to the repair shop myself. I live in a rural area and have no-one to help me put it in a trailer, or take it off again. Decided I should have a look at it myself, after all it is very simple piece of equipment. Phoned LG to see if they would give me a little help to pull out the pump. NO WAY you must use the authorized repairer, no help whatsoever. I decided to have a look at it. About 15 minutes later after removing the pump and removing the obstruction in the pump it is working again. Thank you to all the other reviewers that I have read today. I will look for a real washing machine now

If Only There Was A MINUS 10 Star Rating Available!
I am aware that this model, WT-H800, has been discontinued and I only wish that I'd written a blistering review shortly after purchase (approx 2011, Bing Lee, Fairfield, NSW). Very often the clothes come out of the machine bearing dirty brown spots, which can only be removed with a stiff nail brush when the items are dry. So be prepared to spread out your sheets, and other large items over the table and start brushing! This is infuriating. Apparently one must not dare to add a soaker, a fabric softener or even old fashioned vinegar to the wash ...Read more
as this will result in "scrud", filthy brown spots all over the clothes. What a quality appliance...NOT. I have strongly warned my family, friends and anyone who wants to listen, to never buy an LG washing machine. I only wish that the star review option could offer me minus 10 star rating. Absolutely Pathetic
Today I put the machine through the 'tub clean' cycle, then wiped out the tub after the 'tub clean' cycle, before washing a brand-new white sheet set, which AGAIN came out covered in a filthy mess!! I am so sick of clothing coming out of the wash dirtier than before being laundered. Would prefer the option of giving this product no stars in my review.

Perfect machine for all households to wash their clothes.
I bougt LG washing machine a month before and i found it best for my everyday wash. Moreover i can shoak my blankets for longest time which gives me best results. Not only that, it has so many functions as per my comfort to wash which i love most.
This product has warrant on motor which gives best value.

WORSE THAN TERRIBLE
Every time I had to do the washing I had to sit and calm down before I started.
Many times I would literally cry when I went to hang it out. Lint and marks all over the washing. I thought it was out of warranty but lucky for me I had taken an extended one. The store will hopefully replace with anything but this brand/
It is unbelievable they have not called back every one of these and given new machines. They are the worst piece of garbage when it comes to washing machines.

Warning never buy an lg washing machine....Never
Our WTH800 is 4 years old. Both (crappy plastic) lid hinges have broken making it unusable. You can't simply relace the hinges because they are moulded into the lid and It leaves lint and stains on everything that we wash. We regularly put it through a deep clean cycle. We always clean the lint filters after every wash. It is a piece of garbage that should never have been released to the market. Warranty has expired but there is such a thing as the consumer protection act which states that a product must be fit for purpose and must have a reas...Read more
onable life span provided that it is used in the intended manner and maintained as stated by the manufacturer. I am pushing the Trade Practices Act down LG's throat because they must rectify this obviously sub standard product. I suggest that others should do the same thing. Just Google the Trade Practices Act or Consumer Protection Legislation and you will find the relevant section with ease. All manufacturers are well aware of it but most choose to hope that we consumers are not. Go get 'em and get your product rectified, replaced or money back. I should have known better than to buy an LG anything. GregSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Avoid like the plague
I would never have parted with my hard earned if I had the foresight to read the reviews regarding this piece of misery (LG WT-H800). I have suffered every one of the negative comments previously posted and more.
Now that it's out of warranty I have finally bitten the bullet and purchased a Miele.
Never say never? LG never ever repeat never ever again!

Don't buy
We bought this machine only a month ago and it's dreadful - lint all over the clothes (and yes, we clean the filter after every wash) there's far more lint on the clothes than in the lint catchers that do very very little. The machine is also very rough on your clothes - on even the gentle cycle it's managed to rip a new witchery top ($150 worth) and cause the underwire of a brand new good quality bra to come out - and that's with using a laundry bag as per the instructions. We bought this machine from the Good Guys in Cockburn after being told...Read more
that there were absolutely no lint issues with this machine (agitatorless machines have a bad reputation for this) and stupidly I let the girl talk me into it....now they won't take the machine back. Has been a brilliant machine until it started staining my clothes.
This machine has been brilliant for my hectic lifestyle and bug family. I have 5 kids under 5 and wash every single day. Recently the machine started leaving dark stains on my clothes, especially noticeable on my white clothing. I am at my wits ends, and almost too scared to wash in the machine. My husbands cricket whites look terrible after being washed in there
nice and large for my large family

Be careful, think twice about this washing machine or buying a product made by LG
I would not buy this washing machine again. The hinges broke holding the top lid on, leaving the top cover very unstable. Looking at the broken pieces the plastic looks brittle. Before this issue we were very happy with the machine and treated it with care, now we are very disappointed with LG. You spend a lot of money on a product you want to at least be comfortable thinking that it would be covered under warranty if something goes wrong. Not with LG is seems.
We have only 18 months and it is falling apart.
seems to wash ok
Poorly designed.

Do Not Buy This Machine!!!!!
Not a day goes by without me regretting my decision to buy this washing machine. It puts so much lint over the clothes, and tangles the load terribly. This in turn has put extra strain on the clothes being washed that they have stretched and small holes have appeared in some items. There is also something terribly wrong with the water entering the machine. At times I have had no hot water at all entering the machine and have been forced to put buckets of hot water into the machine to duplicate a warm wash. Now the machine makes terrible grindin...Read more
g noises on the wash cycle!! And this is just the start of my complaints!! Bring back a machine with a centre agitator!! If i had the money this piece of junk would be out on the white goods council cleanup!! I am hopeful that LG might provide some support to me with this machine. I have sent them an email. Time will tell I guess. I was so pleased to see similar reviews on this machine by other discerning consumers. The review says it all!!!!!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

A HELL NO
DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE, LINT O'RAMA and clothes tangled very wash. Damn machine is only 2 1/2 years old. This machine is starting to annoy me, my wife is so frustrated as the lintomatic is the worst we have seen in years. Tried a number of things from seperating the clothes to vinegar in the wash with no success. LG do not want a bar of it. So keep you eyes out for a door stop very soon on ebay.
That is all
Silent function

So incredibly frustrating !
After untangling the ball of knotted clothes for half an hour after each load, my clothes look so haggard, old and stretched to the max! I on the other hand do get a full upper body work out, just as well I am not an old granny. Work clothes, half the time don't end up all clean due to the enormous amount of entangling that they trap dirt between the knots of clothing. Terribly frustrating piece of machinery
everything !

Good washing machine with a few little issues.
Bought this machine brand new to replace a Hitachi which had worked fantastically but eventually broke down after nearly 2 decades of use. I liked the use of the low profile agitator and stainless drum and the machine looked well put together as opposed to the other 8kg washers I looked at. I can fit so much in it even double size doonas which I couldn't do with the jumbo washers at the local laundromat. The fuzzy logic is a bit optimistic in terms of how much water it needs so I never use it. I prefer to set my own settings and this machine...Read more
allows me to do that fine, I always set the water level so it covers the clothes, you can't get away with doing the front loader thing of just having enough water in there but the clothes still show above the water level. I like the soak function and being able to set longer wash times. Oddly enough I never had a problem with this machine tangling clothes or stretching them like many people report with the low profile agitators used in many top loaders. I did have the lint problem that so many people talk about despite two lint filters in the machine, the old Hitachi with it's kind of "sock" system worked perfectly for nearly 20 years. The LG's filters are usually empty unless I accidentally left a tissue in a pocket, but I don't have a massive lint problem, just more than I had before. The only other annoying things I've found are the "programs" because no machine I've ever used do these very well and I always end up overriding it with my own settings. The glass top, though, while nice to look at, is a bit useless as it fogs up even under cold wash with higher ambient temps or humidity. The only other issue I have with the machine is it doesn't remember my temperature settings, water level and previous wash cycle times and defaults back to standard even though nine times out of ten do the same wash settings and temperature. For those that are having the residue issue, make sure you're not putting too much in and override the fuzzy logic and set your water level manually to be above the clothes level. They do not behave like front loaders and will use more water to be effective. The lint issue is annoying but thankfully its not been a big issue for me, not sure why probably because my clothes are all similar materials. And as with all washing machines you do sometimes have to leave the lids open so they don't end up smelling awful. Manually selectable wash options and time frames, well constructed, great for larger bulkier items. Lint filters aren't very effective, fuzzy logic is a bit optimistic with water use, machine doesn't remember your last selected settings in terms of water level and temp.3 comments
I still like the machine but like all machines it has a few guidelines you need to follow to get the best out of it:
1 - Use a front loader detergent, this machine works best with front loading detergent (as stated in the manual)... Read more
2 - Do not use the fuzzy logic, it's too optimistic with the water saving. Overriding it with the manual water levels so that water is higher than the clothes seems to avoid the tangling issues. 3 - Doing both of the above also seems to avoid any soap residue or stainings due to soap residue, especially with powdered soaps. I used BioZ powder and liquid and only had issues when using the fuzzy logic the first couple of times after that I overrode the water level manually. 4 - Like all top loaders you will need to leave the lid open sometimes when not in use to let it dry out a bit that avoids any smell from stagnant water. Just like how front loaders often get mould around the main seal unless you wipe it out. Our family's old Hitachi and the Westinghouse we had before had their own characteristics you had to deal with to get the best out of them, it just takes awhile sometimes and plenty of combination of trying sometimes. An update, after I moved home and sold this to my old housemate I bought a slightly updated model of this (HT-806) for my new place since I liked it and still wanted a top loader.

Awesome machine! No lint, no Tangles.
I can't believe I have the same machine as some of the 1 star reviews I have read. My last machine a Simpson was OK however it only lasted 18 months and did not dissolve powder, could only use liquid and suffered from lint build up.
I have been using the LG 8kg for just one week so it's still early but I'm very impressed so far. All my work clothes are black poly cotton mix and have come out streak free and lint free even after a large load of white bath towels. I feel the spin is adequate and have not yet used the air dry function.

machine is very quite which is great for our open plan house, the last washer had very load solenoids for controlling the water input and also the most ridiculous buzzer when the load was finished, this new machine has a polite tinkle bell noise that does not affect your mood. Quite, washes clothes well, easy use, shows time left for wash, looks good. Need a step if you are short like me 5'2", to reach bottom of large tub.2 comments

Think bearings gone on the agitator bowl spins fine just making horrible noise when using aggitator

When the machine starts the washing cycle and as it runs through the fill up and washing and when it gets to the rinse cycle there is no water flowing through,
I know the solenoids are working because the machine fills up at the start and adds water when needed through the washing but when it goes to rinse there is nothing,
Would there be a problem with control board and is there someway to check it
