It's just steam. Just as steam irons clothes better it does hair better. I do like to use the pro keratin cream with it though, it keeps my hair straight for 6 days, probably longer but thats when I can't postpone washing any longer....

What is the difference between the retail version and the professional version?

I know the water tank is bigger on the professional one, maybe some other internal parts are as well, and maybe the heats settings.

My are curly not very curly but not wavy either... I use a regular straightening iron (babybliss) like 3 or 4 times a week and now my hair are having a big split ends and problem and they also broke a lot. I was wondering if the steampod was less damaging the hair the regular straightening iron. thank you

Yes definitely!
literally guilt free heat styling as the steam (being moisture) treats the hair as you use it. it warms the hair fibre gently as opposed to creating heat shock.

Hi, I'm in the UK and my test strip results show that my tap water is not suitable. I know the guide says to use demineralised water, but I was just wondering what water everyone is using exactly, and where are they getting it from?

Hey mrs V,
I'm in Australia and I use tap water. My sister uses demineralised water from the supermarket.
Good luck!

Hi Pauline. You actually have to hold it down for a few seconds to switch it on. It should light up after you do this.

Hey Pauline :D
I find holding the power button for no longer than 3 seconds turns it on straight away and the same for turning it off after holding the +/- to unlock of course.
Check your maunal again I think it says something about holding it for a bit.
hope this helps ;)
