extremely solid tent, fits a whole family and dog

published

we have taken the wanaka camping three times now and it is now our favorite family tent. it is very well built and holds up in high winds, it has excellent ventilation so in the day time it does not get too hot inside if you have the windows open. it comes in a nice bag that you can place all the tent and stick into and is easily store able in the trunk of our car.

Purchased in May 2021 at Macpac Physical store for A$500.00.

4 out of 5 only because of lack of instructions. Otherwise 5/5

Earlier I wrote a 1 star review as there were no instructions that were helpful that came with the tent and my first camping trip was only days away. With the assistance of one of the brilliant staff at MacPac Town Hall, the tent went up easily but took 2 of us to put it up. Such a roomy and comfortable tent. Thanks MacPac.

Solo Pitch

published

We just discovered today that the Macpac Wanaka tent can be easily pitched by one person. Yes! One person is enough! This suits us perfectly. We love it, especially being able to stand up in it! The friendly and very knowledgeable guy in the Petone, Wellington, New Zealand store, kindly even let us pitch it right inside the store so that we could be sure that it could be fully erected solo. Our third Macpac tent.... quality, say no more, delighted.

A gorgeous Tent!

published

Super light, easy, beautiful to be in, really nice textures. Suits anyting up to an including a family of 5. This tent is easy enough to carry on your back, on single handed, yet can suit a family. Has weathered rain no problem. Absolutely love the colour. Macpac are a great company to buy from.

I just bought Wanaka tent but am a bit nervous about if it is good in bad weather as I will be using it in Kashmir Himalayas.

Hi. I did not use the tent in the Himalayas so cannot be of help as I don't know if it suits. I have been to Kashmir though and trekking in the Himalayas in Nepal. It is a heavy tent to carry so I would probably go for a smaller tent specifically suited to camping in the Himalayas.

We went camping this weekend, but seem to have lost our instructions for the Wanaka test. Is there anywhere I can download a new set of instructions?

Hi Katie, hope this is helpful. These were the instructions given to me by a Macpac employee. I also took photos of an erected tent at the store. That would be really helpful if you could do that.

1. Lay out inner
2. Erect golden poles through yellow tabs
These poles must slide between gold poles and tents (see your photo)
3. Clip inner to poles
4. Slide fly over and clip into inner
5. Erect silver poles and insert through grey tabs on fly
6. Clip silver pole to fly and insert poles into orange eye
7. Peg out tent
8. Enjoy!
