Not very happy with this product

    published

I have used it 4 times and its been back to the shop twice already for warranty repairs. The first time was because the blade does not stop turning when you throttle back to change the catcher, this was modified by the shop and when I got it home it was still doing it. Back it went and they changed the clutch and when I got it home it still is not fixed. Not going to bother taking it back until next service. I won't buy another masport again.

3 years on and today the differential in the rear rollers has failed so no self drive.
There are metal bits rolling around inside. What a piece of junk $1800 worth of headaches, never buy one of these they are rubbish

    Very disapointed

Bought this mower with the expectation Of quality but was very disapponted, for the first 3 months of owning this i was constantly trying to get it to cut level, ended up taking it to a shop and they found it was set correctly and worked out the bed knife is wider than the rear roller so it leaves a lip on both side of every cut, dealership didnt want to help and masport just gave a default reply and sent me the manual wich i obviously had and said to try something that was. Already mentioned that i tried in the email sent to them so be sure to test before you buyn a total waste of $1800

    What mowing is all about

    published

Had new lawns laid in zoysia matrella. Bought a massport reel mower as the turf does not cut well with a rotary mower. The results are fantastic. People walking past ask if it's real turf. The mower starts every time (Honda engine) and does a great job. Important to keep the reel to bed plate adjustment right. Don't do as the shop that sold the mower to me said and leave that to them for its yearly service. It needs adjustment as per the Massport handbook every couple of months or so. All in all very pleased with the product. Buy the way, it's self-propelled not a push mower.

    Extremely happy

    published

I'm extremely happy with this reel mower. Gives a fantastic cut, starts first time every time. I have the larger Honda motor so cannot comment on the Briggs and Stratton motor. Has the split roller which makes it easy to turn on the spot. Very easy to operate and i am glad i bought a new mower.

what is the advantage of a split front roller as against full steel roller? and what is the advantage of a 10 blade as against a 6 blade reel? My use is for maintaining a croquet green.

The split rear roller makes turning easier and avoids “scrubbing” up the grass

The 10 blades provides more cuts per meter so you get a finer cut

Yes makes turning easier, however this mower leaves lines in my lawn it really is a very average mower for the price.
