Tried briefly. Cancelled - Being charged Years Later. Cannot Contact them.
I had the same experience as others here and fell for the pay whatever and be able to contact these gorgeous (non-existent) men. I cancelled membership and payment within a couple of weeks. That was around 4-5 years ago. I now have a charge on my AMEX (card I used then has since expired and email address I used no longer exists.
I have been trying to dispute a charge on my credit card for some weeks now. I have received emails with incorrect phone numbers and links. I was told that they needed my credit card company's 23 digit code - Ame...Read more

About average
I quickly used this site and found it about average / the money they wanted was too much in the end / I usually just used to give girls a virtual kiss and some girls used to write back

Treat this site like you would treat someone with "Ebola"
I joined the free section first the intention of upgrading membership later. After a couple of weeks I decided this site wasn't for me so I hid my profile from view pending cancellation. That is when I started to receive emails from match.com telling me that I have received emails and if I paid a joining fee I could read them. 6 emails in 2 weeks from beautiful 28-32 year old all over Australia. I received 15 winks from profiles that did not exist and 12 winks from places like Roto NSW. I looked at google maps and the only building at Roto is a railway siding. Of the profiles that did exist they were aged between 28-32, beautiful, single, looking for a man between 40-60 or 40-80, within 80km. I am 61 yo.

Had several contact to female members
Had several contact to female members(I'm male) first thing they wanted was my email address. Gave them my mobile number and received text messages from Malaysia and China. The site is crowded with profiles from [censored word removed]. Mostly hot only 1 picture, mostly portrait. Suddenly I couldn't log in anymore but had paid already for 3 month, almost 100 AUD. I should call the 1 800 number in the US to clear problems with my account. [censored word removed]. Shame on you match.com.
Michael
That they closed my account so I don't get in touch with [censored word removed] anymore.
If you fond new [censored word removed] and told them off, they left and a new beauty appeared with similar profile. They're lazy so the copy the profile.

I give one star because there is no option to give zero
I signed up for a free trial with Match and after the first two days knew the site and service really was not for me. I was receiving messages from men in Sweden and Germany (a fat load of good that would do me as I am from the UK) and men who were old enough to be my grandfather let alone my father. Most of those messages consisted of "hiya hows u lol" and the usual generic text chat. Absolutely not what I was looking for, and so I decided to end my subscription before my free trial expired.
I went online and accessed my account to cancel m...Read more
y subscription as soon as I returned from work the evening before I'd been advised in writing from the Match mobile app that my free trial would expire. You can imagine my dismay when a message displayed advising me that my membership could not be cancelled as my payment was already being processed. I contacted Match customer services both over the phone and via the internet in an attempt to resolve the situation but neither were willing nor able to help me. I was advised that as I'd failed to opt out from "automatic renewal" then my payment was taken automatically before my free trial ended, and sent a very condescending email message explaining how the automatic renewal process was plastered all over the subscription sign up page- implying that this was basically my own fault for not reading small print. Frankly I feel that this method of luring in unsuspecting customers is outrageously misleading. I have now been charged almost £30 of my hard earned money for absolutely nothing. Despite the fact I clearly have absolutely zero intention of using this website or its services ever again- I have deleted all photographs and information from my profile- I have been denied a refund due to the fact I have apparently used the messaging services outside of my free trial. The only messages I have sent are to Match customer services in an attempt to resolve this ludicrous situation as I was getting nowhere over the phone- they clearly only wanted to give me their time if I was going to give them more of my money. I work in customer services for a leading UK company and I am absolutely baffled by the complete lack of customer care that Match has shown to a (fair enough unwittingly) paying customer. The telephone assistant I spoke with was abrupt and dismissive and the assistant I conversed with via email has simply failed to reply to my messages. I am now sharing my experience using Match.com by word of mouth and social media in hopes of convincing other potential customers to keep their money in their bank accounts rather than lining the pockets of the Match CEOs.Similar opinion? Worst experience of my life
I had two encounters with men from this site, both turned out to be scammers one working from Nigeria and one from UK I lost $3500 to first, nothing to second. Would never use a dating site again. I plead with any woman out there please be careful and avoid this site. I do have documentation to verify everything stated.
Nothing in place to check legitamitcy of members

Rewarding with Persistence
I wrote a review here about a month ago and I falsely accused Match.com of taken an unauthorised amount out of my credit card account. I have asked to have that review retracted. Since that review I have met 2 gorgeous women through Match.com and another 2-3 are possible to meet as well. The key here is you need to be persistent and despite the odd scammer you don't get discouraged.
Rewarding for those who persist. Customer service.

Can't cancel membership
Somehow I have two accounts under different passwords. Each time I go in I am sent to "sign up" page. I have sent many letters to sort problem out & cancel but to no avail. Received an A/c today. Most matches are from the Eastern States. The help phone number is not available. I would like to be re-embursed for this latest bill, but can't see it happening.
Very poor service, and expensive when one can't get in touch with your matches.

Perfect!
I had so much fun meeting new people safely. I was nervous at first but once I learned to trust my instincts I had a ball. I met lots of interesting men. Now my husband and I are approaching our fifth anniversary of meeting and our third wedding anniversary! He was the only man I sent a wink to and I was the only woman he received a wink from. I guess the dating experience really is a woman's world. We couldn't be happier. Thank you Match. Com!
Easy and fun

I visited the site for a giggle after being directed by an ad. aha, silly me as i didn't realise it was a sight that prayed on stupidy and vulnerability of sincere people trying to find another person to share their today with. No one knows the future as it only happens in the present. Presently i know it is a loser site and will probably remain so albeit profitable.
It wasted my time but occupied a few minutes of idleness

Worst site ever!
I signed up and then with 15-48 hour decided it was not for me, call up and emailed them and was told no refund read the terms, if there service is so great why no allow people a 3 day full trial or 7 day full trial...and there customer service is the worst i ever comes across...might as well have robots doing customer service....its that bad.
If you join for what ever reason and within 3 days if you want a refund in most states its the law to protect customers that companies need to issue a refund but Not Match.com...don't take my word for ...Read more
it, do a search of Match.com review of people who have joined and then you will see....my biggest mistake was not reviewing them first, most people that join them are probably not happy...!!! I'm very unhappy and i hope they crash and burn as business, when some cheats you out of money then that is no longer acceptable to trust them and that's what Match.com will do...i challenge them to be upfront about there refund policy put it on the main screen where people sign up not in small print on some page =most people will not read......shame on them! Terrible service
About 80% of the profiles are nigerian-style scammers after money. Most of them are totally obvious, some even duplicate the same wording for profile after profile. The so-called customer care people don't care, they don't even reply to messages, they just take your money. Run a mile from this!

Please don't use this dating website
I decided to give this dating site a go because I heard is really good in the US. But now that I've been on this website for nearly a week I realised it is not worth it. I already specified the type of guys I wanna date and they keep sending me people outside my criteria. I feel I have thrown my money into the garbish bin. Customer service is not that good either, I asked them a question and had to figure out how to solve the problem myself, I got a response 4 days later without an apology. This site really is terrible.

Took money out of my bank.
I was a member of match.com.au but after finding I spent most of my time dealing with people who only what money, and reporting them only to find them back on line with a new account I cancelled my membership. so you would think if I cancelled my membership my profile would not be there right? wrong! after cancelling my membership and not having been to the site for more then 6 months they just billed me for a new membership just out of the blue I was shocked to say the lest. when I say 6 months ago I cancelled my membership it was longer then that but hay they have still taken money out that they had no right to. I have had to get a new bank card.
I left the site I was no longer a member and they took money out of my bank

a complete have! don't waste your money!
Paid for a three month membership but quit after two weeks. Two major issues! The first is that match.com.au has an option where people can come on for free if they create a profile, these profiles cannot email but I think they can wink. This means the site is overwhelmingly made up of these dud profiles which are essentially blank and cannot communicate. Match.com promises to send you 5 profiles especially selected for you, apparently, each day. After about 2 days they started spending me these blank profiles. There is no way to screen out the...Read more
se blank profiles. Which brings me to my second issue. There is no way to block contact from people who don't meet your selection criteria, so I said I wanted a man, aged 32-42 somewhere near my home city. All I got were emails from men in there 50s and 60s, usually in another state, AND some very obvious scam emails from men in japan, Malaysia etc. When I did finally find 4 real men, they were all having the same experience and were all about to quit. All commented on how amazing it was to meet a real person, one said I was the only real person he met! The pool of genuine members is miniscule. The website only makes itself look busy by allowing free/dud blank profiles. Also by having no screening options they have made their users an easy target for a massive number of foreighn scam artists. Real people are few and far betweenSimilar opinion? The best site to (attempt to meet) scammers!
I'm describing match.com.au below.
The great news-- I got lots of mail and winks from attractive profiles. The profiles I got mail from all:
* were in their late 20's to early 30's (good)
* were interested in men of a wide age range-- often 25 to 65. (unusual)
* were seemingly unencumbered by geography-- usually hailed from obscure towns, and were looking for partners within 400km+. (One within 9999km) (very unusual)
* They all seemed to have poor grammar, but usually a stunner for a photo.
When you picked out a particularly bad piece of grammar and googled for it, you'd get multiple hits, from all over the world, of their profile-- in Sydney, Perth, NYC, LA, London, etc... at the same time.

Be Warned!
I had a browse on match last night and was astounded at the amount of great looking women from Ararmac QLD. This town has a population of 300 to 400 people spread over 1200 kilometres!!!!! There is no possible way it could have been. I sent an email to Match.com stating this. I got no response and alot of the single Ararmac girls are now MIA from the site. But if you google the towns you can see that it is a scam. For instance the amount of women in mining towns is greatly exaggerated, these towns are heavily male populated. Like I said google the towns population and region and you will soon see the imbalance. Hope this helps someone from getting scammed.

Savve your money - do not waste your time
Ended up joining the site because there was an attractive competition to win a trip to the Cook Islands. I believe it was a just a rouse to get people to join online. Apparently there was a “winner” but no formal announcement about it. Doubt the competition or winner was real.
Started getting a lot of winks once i uploaded my picture and heaps of ppl checking me out. As i couldn’t see who these people were I decided to take up the 3 day trial offer. Then on the last day of the trial the activity really increased so I thought I would on...Read more

Worse dating site to join
I joined match.com because I thought it was an old brand so it had to be good. I paid $110. But when I started communicating, soon I noticed that many of the members just disappeared. I honestly don't know why. I also received loads of fake messages, from women who were on the other side of the globe and urgently needed money!
I contacted them to cancel the membership but they did not answer so I called my bank and asked for a dispute. Only the bank managed to get my money back.
Very old system, their software has not been improved since 2004. Lots of scam and fake users. No customer service. Expensive

yes it is. be very careful there are a lot of scammers with false information about them self's
on that website i had a russian women claiming to be from melbourne Australia yet she was on the other side of the world many have fake profiles misleading information about them self's .and match.com don't screen these people.i was called a scammer myself by a lady i didn't even know i kept getting abused whatever that was about i have know idea what's going on with that website i had match take my profile down i don't want nothing to do with them the people on there are very strange to say the least.i'm glad i wasn't a paid member avoid match.com like the plague.the other annoying them when you set up a profile i ended up with popups of other dating agencies all the time i never got peace it's very hard contacting match after many tries i had success not very organised.i hope this helps you and keeps you safe from scammers.
It is real but definitely be aware. Probably the most fake profiles I have encountered on a 'paid' dating site. I agree with Mark.. be careful. I have taken my profile off match and tried to delete my pics and profile answers descriptions etc... and I still get the occasional message from a member. Very annoying. Also their Customer Service is a joke... just have your eyes open - very wide.
