Be very aware!
Do not correspond with anyone via email until you have met them. After one month of very intelligent writing stating love, honesty and devotion I realised I had been scammed. Set up a meeting asap do not listen to any excuse to suddenly have to leave the country, they are very good at what they do, ask for a photo of them with their hand on their heart at the destination they claim to be at, they will make you feel that you don't trust them, well don't they will ultimately try to get something from you, be very, very careful.

This should be called match.scam
I joined an on line dating site, in three months every contact I received ended up an attempt to scam me, not one was genuine. I paid for six months, but just cancelled at three months because this site is seriously dangerous. The last contact was a "beauty". After two emails he told me he was actually based in Iraq and not Victoria. Then when I asked him to Skype as I thought this would sort out if he was a scammer or not,
I got a response saying he would be back in two weeks, he had managed to steal some diamonds from the safe where he w...Read more

Not going to pay just to read message
I just joined but deactivate after an hour. Any site who would ask me to pay just to read my messages will definitely get the boot. Also, please don't forget the fine print - they're not doing any checks, so really you just have to do the investigation yourself.

Match.com is the SEWERAGE outlet of On-line Dating
Match.com is the WORST dating site I have been on. 80% scammer rate. Always popping up for "chats". I strung them along, asked very specific questions about where they lived. I mean, now many 6'0 tall widowers live in Abbotsford NSW? They always or usually said USA. They'd visited there, or away on business. Couldn't answer specific questions about their suburbs. Some had placed their profile in remote cattle stations in NT.
I ended up changing my profile and photo to an obviously ridiculous one, but it did not stop them trying to contact me...Read more
. IN the end I strung them along and then asked them to send me money because my dog was sick. And then I flung every expletive I could at them before reporting them and blocking them. Match.com has now blocked my profile, 2 weeks into my membership, and they get to have a whole months' subscription. Ripped OFF. It seems its OK to have hundreds of fake profiles and let them get away with it ... but when someone makes some noise and starts playing vigilante, they don't like it. MATCH.COM is the worst. Do not join. Do not go there. Stay away.5 comments

Scam. Do not go there.
I was only new and my account got hacked into. It took them 5 days to act and reset account to prior date but damage had already been done, different photos and chased away all my contacts. I asked for a refund and cancelled my account. I have sent 10 emails requesting refund and on several occasions I got a message from Match.com USA saying I have to contact International in which I followed the link and even on their website followed correct procedures but email comes back saying unable to process (even when I press reply to their own email)....Read more
Every time I called them 10am, 11am and 1.50pm their time, the phone message says I am calling out of hours. This is a huge scam and may have to take legal action just to get action. Would be nice to know if there are others in same position as we could take a class action against them and close them down.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Scam, scam, scam
I've been scammed twice. First time I joined as a non paying member and I was inundated with all these girls liking my photos and sending email. Additionally, I was getting pressure from site management that I was missing out on opportunities, blah, blah, blah!
As soon I joined, the daily emails stopped and every now and then I would get a wink or a like from 24 year olds in the US when I set my profile to looking for 50+ ladies in Australia ( I was getting these before I subscribed!).
I stopped my membership by changing my card and for g...Read more
ot about the site. 2 years later, I visited the site and immediately after began receiving winks and mail from my preferred age in Australia. I decided to give it a chance and subscribe again but, viola! once again the mails stopped and I began getting likes and winks from 24 year olds in the US as soon as I made the payment. Now I have to change my card again!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Waste of money
80% on there is a fake profile, don't get fooled by the beautiful pictures.
The chat function doesn't work, or there's hardly anyone real online.
Even with a subscription, you have to pay extra to read/send email.
Don't waste your time, don't waste your money. Go out and talk to people!

This Site Has NO Ethics And Will Rip You Off - BEWARE
I joined Match.con back in June 2012. There were not all the reviews around back then so I went in blind.
I joined from Australia looking for an Australian match / date.
I was on there 3 days and I had a profile contact me with photos that looked normal, however, with a little investigation it proved to be photos of a not so well known Euro porn actress in normal clothes, jeans and top etc.
I did report this fake profile - Match.con did sweet F all about it. They left it there.
I could NOT opt out and leave Match.con. The only way to stop ...Read more

SCAMMED
Don't go near this dating site, I made up a profile but i didn't pay to become a payed member, One year later i get a payment bill, then i checked my paypal account and i found more payments, I suspect that they obtained my account details though the other dating companies they own, I contacted Paypal and stopped anymore payments of occurring, Paypal are now disputing this for me but i think i won't get my $185 back. Beware of Match.Com. P.S I just remembered that Match.com pops up in Plenty Of Fish, had the same trouble with them too, It's probably where they got my Paypal account through
1 comment
Paypal disputed this payment, Match.com Didn't answer their email, So after 10 days Paypal found the case in my favor and i got my money back, I got lucky.

Full of scammers and very old accounts
I tried match.com.au after being unsuccessful on RSVP. On that site it was virtually impossible to get any response, and every initiated contact cost money. So, I thought I'd give match.com.au a try.
The interface is pretty easy to use and users don't need to spend any money to set up an account, but if you want to see who is contacting you a 6 month contract is required.
Within 5 minutes of setting up a profile with no photo I already had someone eager to chat with me. I thought that was very odd, but persisted. Within a day I had people...Read more
trying to contact me so I paid for a 6 month subscription. It was only then I noticed the profiles messaging me tended to be from interstate, which is completely unrealistic. After I began using Google's reverse image look up, I noticed all these accounts were from scammers. They pull photos off predominantly Russian and Ghanaian websites. Just for entertainment purposes, I agreed to chat with one of them. They express their love for you very quickly, and even faster try to get you to move the conversation onto instant messenger or email. That's because the account will be banned by match.com.au and they have a limited time window to work with. The scammer profiles all tend to be similar, with women who allegedly play 5 sports, have 10 hobbies, and will date a man from 90 to 271cm in height! Their profiles are extremely broad to capture the attention of as many victims as possible. The number of scam profiles vastly outnumbers legitimate ones. Every day in my home state I would have around 3 scam profiles pop up, not including ones that messaged me from interstate. I would estimate the ratio of scam to real new profiles is around 10 to 1. The scam profiles tend to get removed within a few days, so it looks like the site is populated with legitimate women, but that's not the case.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Match.com.au -> blocked account
I signed up with Match.com.au (free account firstly) and spent a bit of time completing my profile. Within 3 days my account as locked out and the link kept directing me to the US customer service, who did reply to say that I had to contact their international site. The link they provided to their international site does not work either. The poor user interface is quite disconcerting, and is not a good sign. It has been a waste of my time.

Match.com Rating "Minus 5 Stars'
So once again Match.com proves just how unprofessional it is as an organization by not having the courtesy of replying to my emails sent to their customer service department in regards mainly to a message I received from them advising they had received a report that I had sent unwanted and harassing messages to a profile, which was totally untrue as the so called report was from a fake/false/scammer profile who didn't like being taken to task in regards to the stolen photos and text used in "their" profile but instead I find with no notificatio...Read more
n that my profile has been suspended/deleted and then that I have even received a full refund of the subscription again without any prior communication, even though when I requested a refund a few weeks ago due to Match.com in my personal opinion not delivering the service as outlined by them and continually allowing an overwhelming amount of repeat false/fake/scammer profiles to appear on a daily basis, I was advised no, I was not entitled to a refund as I had already sent an email. Great work Match.com At least it saved me from deleting my profile myself as it has become plainly obvious in my opinion that the Match.com organization not only allows the false and fake profiles to continue to appear they seem to encourage them and then take the word of scammers rather than that of an actual subscriber when they actually stand up to one the Match.com. Scammers and takes them to task in regards to the stolen photos and profiles. An example of the level of scammers/false profiles. On Match.com (Australia) there is currently at time of writing 197 profiles for females and 418 for males stating on "their" profile that they live in Adavale Queensland, which would be fine but for the fact that Adavale Queensland is a very isolated and very small country town that currently has a total population of 15 YES! 15 and of course when you point this out to Match.com you receive no reply at all, no matter how many emails you send and yes, I grant there maybe a small percentage who were just too lazy to put in the correct location but it still should be up to Match.com to verify the information supplied but still, 615 profiles for a place that has a population of 15 and this is one of many examples that can be found. It could be an interesting point to find out how in legal terms if Match.com is in part liable for breaches of international copyright laws by continuing to allow the same stolen photos to be used time and time again when it would be so easy to stop the practice by introducing profile verification procedures before a profile is allowed to go live. Many other sites do it, why not Match.com. There is also face and photo recognition software that would make it easy to detect any photo or photos that are repeatedly used. Hell, the hundreds of profiles I personally reported were "found out" by a simple Google image search.1 comment

Not bad, but caution is required
Middle-aged man here, looking for similar females, I found Match.com quite OK.
I didn't encounter many fake profiles, and the ones I did were taken down pretty fast without me doing anything. The admins seem to be on the alert.
Big pool of potentials, more than other sites. Limited success on my part due to not looking for a full-time relationship.
As with all sites, only pay with a disposable charge card, not with the regular credit card. This prevents the almost inevitable automatic renewal and avoids the hassle of trying to cancel subs.

Not only do they force you to pay to both send and receive emails, but the site is flooded with fake profiles. The worst thing is that their app truncates your emails so the very service you are paying for does not work!!! How do I get my money back?

yes it is. be very careful there are a lot of scammers with false information about them self's
on that website i had a russian women claiming to be from melbourne Australia yet she was on the other side of the world many have fake profiles misleading information about them self's .and match.com don't screen these people.i was called a scammer myself by a lady i didn't even know i kept getting abused whatever that was about i have know idea what's going on with that website i had match take my profile down i don't want nothing to do with them the people on there are very strange to say the least.i'm glad i wasn't a paid member avoid match.com like the plague.the other annoying them when you set up a profile i ended up with popups of other dating agencies all the time i never got peace it's very hard contacting match after many tries i had success not very organised.i hope this helps you and keeps you safe from scammers.
It is real but definitely be aware. Probably the most fake profiles I have encountered on a 'paid' dating site. I agree with Mark.. be careful. I have taken my profile off match and tried to delete my pics and profile answers descriptions etc... and I still get the occasional message from a member. Very annoying. Also their Customer Service is a joke... just have your eyes open - very wide.
