Check engine light issues!!
Have had nothing but issues with my mazda 2 Neo, it went okay for about 15,000km then the check engine kept coming on, then it would go okay for a few weeks then it would come on again, this has probably happened about 15 times and majority of the time i am told it was dirty fuel even though 90% of the time the fuel i used was 98 so i swapped between servos to see which was the best one. Have had the engine replaced and just about every other component in the engine block. Have had it towed 4 times once from 100km away. Engine has cut out on me...Read more
while driving on more than one occasion, and when i tried to get a new car i was told i would have to pay the difference with the amount of distance the car had been driven, and now after seemingly going okay for about 5 months the check engine light has come on again and i am getting told it need a carbon cleanout here we go again. UPDATE: Took my car in for the service cost me $877 and less than a day later my engine light came back on, when I took the car back was informed properly everyday for 4 days then I had to ring them after hearing nothing for a week. They cleaned out the manifold which had carbon build-up, so do I change servos again because this will be the 6th servo that has had an issue with dirty fuel.Similar opinion? Love my new small car!
We have a ute, and I needed a car to do daycare drop off and drive to work. I really wanted a small, cheap car. I was originally going to just buy el cheapo Kia picanto but hubby did the 'spreadsheet' and it worked out better valve to down just a little extra for the Mazda. I freaking love my new car. It looks really good and drives beautifully. I can park it in tiny spaces - bonus after driving the ute! The interior is not fancy, but it's pretty nice and has all the fancy things that I was after - I use the USB plug for listening to pod casts on the way to work and Bluetooth the phone for calls. I am definitely a Mazda convert! The mother in law even went out two weeks later and got the same model!

My wonderful little car
My little grey Mazda 2 is a delight to drive...it manoeuvres so well in traffic and and is so easy to park. It is so cheap to run.... 85 litres of petrol got me 2000 kms of driving. That is over 20kms to the litre. Amazingly economical.
Comfort is great. It looks smart, rides well and is very quiet....love my car

Smooth engine.
The Mazda2 2016 has the smoothest engine I have ever had. Its linear acceleration is awesome. If bored of this kind of acceleration? Hit the Sport button and you are like driving an MX-5 sport car. Power is enough for a NA 1.5-liter engine and very fuel efficient. Currently i am getting 6.9 litres per 100 kilometres city driving. Full freeway driving should get just over 5liters. Going up hill is not an issue. It may not go so fast like a 6-cylinder car going up hill but not struggling. Speed increases as you go up the hill. The only thing I no...Read more
ticed is the paint easily get scratched. Other than that, no complain at all. Engine noise is evident when you step hard on the accelerator pedal but the sound is so pleasant. Like a sports car accelerating, not metal noise like most 4-cylinder cars around. Interior is nice. It's like a $40,000 car. Skyactiv technology is great unlike hybrid technology. 14:1 compression ration is awesome plus header exhaust. Like a racing car. Six gears auto transmission is smooth. Knows perfectly when to shift gears. That's all. Thanks.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great hatch - Mazda needs to build an MPS version
The Mazda 2 will suit anyone looking for a small car that has the flexibility to be a commuter or to travel further afield. Around town the Mazda 2 is zippy without being too powerful and the manual gearbox is a highlight in it's short throw and silky smooth operation. The interior is smart and practical and has a modern/retro feel with the circular air vents and long dash lines. On a twisty road the handling comes to the fore with the Mazda 2 easily settling into corners at the speed limit and holding a line nicely. Traveling out of town the M...Read more
azda doesn't disappoint with it's 6 speed gearbox making for effortless highway cruising and the cruise control allowing for individual km/h adjustments. With 2 adults and 2 kids onboard the Mazda 2 cabin feels secure and comfortable without being spacious as would be in a larger car. Fuel consumption is nothing short of spectacular ! I can totally recommend the current Mazda 2 - great refinements of what was already a great car in the previous model.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Excellent First Car
Very good first car with a broad range of technology. It drives quite well, but it does tend to rev a bit high (something you'll get use too) Quite fuel efficient, I ranged about 500 - 600 km on one tank, lasting me about 2 weeks (don't be a lead foot and you wont have high fuel consumption)
If you do want to speed up faster, then it does tend to rev really high and loud. Interior quality is probably a 7 out of 10. Still a bit too much plastic, but it feels premium.
So far no major problems, just the air con can have a wet laundry smell whe...Read more

Mazda 2 maxx sport 2016 model (auto)
I bought another mazda because i have a cx5 for almost 1.5 years with no problems. Bad choice. Unlike the cx5 wwhich is built in japan the mazdA 2 is built in thailand. When i bought the car brand new it has problems already. The istop was not working since we bought it new. But we spoke to mazda about the issue and seems to be working now. In my experience the istop is pointless. But we need it to work if we ever need to sell it. Then the new buyer will be like why isnt the istop working!!.
The second issue i had was when you park the car a...Read more
fter driving and you put the car on park and handbrake up. There would be a glitch where the mzd lcd infotainment system screen would remain on. It would not turn off. The only way to fix this was turn on the car again and change thr gears up and down then park the car again. In my opinion since the car is new and the car parts hasnt been moved/used much and is still stiff so to speak. The gear change would not lock properly in park, so i would push harder than normal when i move the gear to park. Just recently it stopped. Car seems to be ok for now when i turn off the car. The third issue i had is the car would stall or lose power when driving the car uphill. Loses power lets say going uphill on your driveway or garage. At low speeds going uphill to park the car etc.. at thr moment i havent experienced losing power going up the freeway or entering the freeway uphill, maybe due to the speed and power i am accelerating the car. Whereas the driveway you are not driving 100km. Servicing is expensive same as a cx5 or bigger car in the mazda range. Petrol im getting is about 7ltrs /100km. Freeway is about 6.5/7km per 100km not much difference. The car has done 3000kms. My recommendation is get a cx3 since its the same car as a mazda2. The cx3 is made in japan. Also it is similarly priced to the mazda 2 about $2000 more. This is my experience. Would i buy a mazda in the future? Probably not. Most likely a toyota.Similar opinion? Mazda 2 is a great car but Skyactive automatic transmission shifts into higher gears to early.
Have done 7000ks. Generally a very good car but auto transmission shifts into 5th & 6th too early (5th at about 50km/h and 6th at just over 60km/h) resulting in the little engine lugging at only 1,100rpm, at these speeds. It will shift down (a bit reluctantly) if you put your foot down but performance feels apathetic when cruising around with a light foot. Sports mode is too much the other way and is too aggressive for normal driving. Can appreciate car is designed this way for economy but if it shifted into 5th and 6th at slightly higher speeds or had a setting between "normal" and "sports", it would feel peppier and much nicer to drive.

Rattle noise
Runs quite well
Auto in cruise doesn't know when to change gears

Very intermittent
Had it back 7 times since brought
First time they heard noise foam packed it
Went away for a little while but it's back and have had it back 6 more times with no luck Mazda saying they can't hear it

Bad upholstery
Everything about the car is top quality, aside from the bad upholstery in particular the front door trim. They mark continually and look very shabby, and I have been unable to restore the fabric to original condition, that's pretty rough for a one year old car ... Also 5 times when I have turned off the engine the car keeps running - weird! Has anyone had similar issues? Funnily enough I would still buy Mazda

I love my car
This little car does it for me...I don't have to turn on the lights or wipers...the sat nav gives me directions and let's me know where the school zones are. It's zippy to drive and looks cute.
I bought this one because my previous Mazda was so reliable

Great little car!
I just purchased my car and have had nothing but smooth sailing since. It's consistent and is quite responsive when needed. It handles great too! The interior is simple but nice, and enough space for passengers and gear. I haven't sat in the back yet... cause im driving but it does seem a bit cramped. Ehhh. Overall I'm happy with this city commuter.

Absolutely LOVE my Mazda 2 Maxx
I purchased my brand new 2015 Mazda 2 Maxx a couple of months ago and I absolutely love it! It drives very smoothly, has GREAT fuel economy, lots of power and it looks so sleek and nice. I haven't experienced any faults at all with this car and I doubt I ever will. The only flaw that I can possibly think of is that the leg room in the back is slightly cramped but only if you have tall people in the back. Other than that, it is the perfect car and I love my little mazda. I would recommend it to anyone!
*EDIT* I unfortunately no longer have th...Read more
is 2015 Mazda 2 Maxx as it was written off in February 2016. When deciding on what car i should buy next, I just had to go with a 2016 Mazda 2 Maxx ;) I honestly couldn't think of any other kind of car that I would want to drive, so the choice was pretty easy. Its also worthy of noting that these cars are incredibly safe. When I had my accident, my two front airbags went off immediately protecting me from any serious impact. 10/10!Similar opinion? VERY disappointed by Mazda. Made in Thailand - Not as good as its predecessor.
Ok First things first, this car is made in Thailand. I was given this car as a loan car for 2 weeks until my CX-5 was being repaired after an accident. I can tell you the difference between the 2 is striking (also the difference between the old generation Mazda 2). The Mazda 2 rattles, the gear box is sluggish and does not know when to change gears and the engine does not produce power smoothly, as I accelerate a jerking response is being felt especially on acceleration. The i-stop completely sucks (but that applies to all new mazdas).
Ther...Read more
e are a number of rattles and creaks around the cabin and the plastics are hard all around, typical Thailand manufacturing, the difference with the CX-5 is astonishing and contrasts the Japanese vs Thailand quality of built. Some positives, handling is superb, engine is zippy and braking is responsive and obviously it looks very good!!. However I would recommend the Renault Clio (which looks just as good) over this any day! Mazda really did not put much effort in the latest iteration of the '2' and it seems 'rushed' and poorly built. The previous generation mazda 2 was made in Japan, if you have driven it you will feel the difference.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Average. Some Issues.
We bought the mazda 2 after comparing quite a few different vehicles and ended up choosing the 2015 Mazda 2 Maxx in Manual. I wrote a review in the first week where i was quite happy with the car. Its a week later and some initial nit picks are becoming real annoyances. The good first. The steering wheel and the gear stick are really nice. The seats are very very comfortable, fully adjustable and the blue trimming of the doors and seats goes very well with the exterior colour. The head lights are quite good as well. The dash lighting is very ni...Read more
ce and unobtrusive. The engine is ok, its relatively smooth and quiet, but it definitely doesn't have much get up and go about it. Mind you that is pretty standard for this class of vehicle. The clutch takes a bit of getting used to, however its manageable after some practice. Having said that, i won't be buying a manual mazda ever again. Now the bad. The brake and the accelerator aren't even with each other, so it requires a full leg movement, bending at the knee to go from one to the other, rather than a pivot at the ankle joint. This is very very inconvenient when driving and means that there is no rapid transitioning between the pedals if need be. This might be a personal thing too, but the accelerator is very up right and after half hour or driving around town, the muscle that runs up the front of my right shin was very fatigued and my hip joint from going from the brake to the accelerator was getting sore and tired. There isn't 1 thread of sound deadening material in the whole car. Driving at 60kmph or above sounds like you are sitting in a boeing as its taking off. The sound travels so well through the thin walls and floor of the 2 that you can even hear the fuel sloshing around in the fuel tank and after half hour on the road at 80kms i got out with a bit of a ringing in my ears!! NOW the dash!!! where do you start. Its so needlessly cramped, stupidly spaced and just plain doesn't make sense. The design of it is terrible for no reason. The aesthetics gained by the slim line through the center are broken by the single slot style air vent. There's only one of them, its out of place, looks silly and takes up room that would have been better served by oh.... the head unit instead of tacking it to the dash!? The multi-media unit is the worst ive ever seen. The Bluetooth was hard to set up, inconsistent and gets confused when there are 2 phones in the car. The iStop feature is useless unless you are in peak hour traffic maybe? But even then it seems not worth the hassle. Its also very hard to know when you have it on, when its working, and how it works and the manual doesnt clear up much at all (when the iStop light is on.... that means iStop is off....?). The entire center piece around the handbrake and the gear stick wiggles a concerning amount. According to mazda this is a standard affair but it screams cheap and nasty. Everything stains easily and all surfaces are magnets for finger prints. The fuel consumption of 6.6 around town is very wishful thinking. Its 15kms to work, all 60km zones, with 4 roundabouts. We are currently getting 8l/100km. Not impressed at all. Hopefully its better on the highway but from the few runs at 100kms we've had the variable fuel usage (which adjusts every 3 seconds instead of every 1 like other vehicles) rarely dips below 5.5l/100Kms. Thus far we are pretty disappointed with this vehicle. For the almost $20K price tag once you include all the optional extras like.... oh.... the center console (FFS!?) you'd expect a lot more for your money. If it were in the $15k price range with other small cars i'd say go with it, but if we had our chance again, we'd definitely be driving something else.Similar opinion?
