Hi Narelle BK is the series and the 2008 was the last of the first series. Be careful as these are over 10 years old many with high mileage. If you can find one with a great service record and low average per year then this is good. As always buy on condition.

There were a few additions in the series 2, most notably a 6 speed manual transmission for better fuel economy, plus in the luxury sports model direction stability control was added, a first for a mazda.

Just brought a Mazda sp23 2005 and put 98ron of fuel and engine light came on should I have not done ????

I presume you used Premium 98 RON fuel which should not make a difference as they (2.3) were tuned to run on normal 91 RON unleaded fuel so using 95 or 98 should just increase power output and possibly fuel economy, if your engine light is on there is probably some other issue. Hope that answers your question.

I was advised not to use 98, only 91 or 94,I've never used 98 burns too hot !

Please read you user manual re the fuel to be used. Don't let Mazda dealership talk nonsense. Your manual will tell you what you can and can't use.

Hey I have a Mazda 3 sp23 2005 model. Mine has 230,000kms on it though. We used to live out on a farm and the track was 1km long, ever since living out there I I have a loud banging noise in the front end (I think) and not one mechanic that has looked at it knows what it could be, we have replaced all the shockers in it twice and still no luck! Overall a really good car to purchase. Perfect car for city driving but not for rough tracks lol!! I have been really happy with my Mazda and besides that one thing cannot fault it. We have since had a baby and I do find there isn't much room at all for the passenger with a rear facing car seat and my pram take up virtually the whole boot!!

Looking at purchasing a mazda 3 2005 maxxx sport manual with 132kms. any major issues to be aware of? Nervous as stung bad with purchase of a ve commodore 8 mths ago. Commodore is too big. Currently do 4 hr country driving twice a month...then simply running around. Debating on changing. Thoughts?

We actually swapped from a v6 commodore to our Mazda 3. The commodore was too big and thirsty. The Mazda definitely sorts that out.

Hi. Just remember the car is 10 yrs old,so it's probably not going to be perfect. Check and make sure all big ticket items Re service were done at the 100k. Eg timing belt and clutches as they cost a grand it so each. You will live the fuel economy, but may miss the quicker pick up Re over taking on long trips. They have better zip around town. Good luck.
