Brilliant! Just a few small niggles
Purchased our new Mazda 3 about 3 weeks ago. It’s been a great car so far, however there are a few things that are a little frustrating. The first thing is the satnav. To input the desired locating you must use the rotary dial and select each individual letter. This can be a lengthy process. Alternatively you can try the voice assist method. Unfortunately most of the time it doesn’t understand what you’re saying. Also you need to know the full address including state and post code! We’ve found it easier to just plug in a phone and use Apple Car...Read more
Play. The second issue is with the door lock system. When you walk away from the car with the key, the car is supposed to automatically lock and fold the mirrors in. Half the time this doesn’t happen and you end up having to press the key fob button anyway. I realise these are only small issues that could possibly be cured with a software update. I will be bringing these up with Mazda’s service department. These things aside, I am extremely happy with our purchase. The build quality and use of soft touch materials make you feel like you are sitting in a far more expensive brand. The ride is smooth and quiet even with 18” wheels. And the 2.5 litre engine is punchy especially mated to a traditional 6 speed auto. Would highly recommend this car.Purchased in March 2021 for $29,000.00.

The Downsides of the Mazda 3 2022 Model
Recently purchased the 2022 model Mazda 3 G25 GT thinking this vehicle was going to be the best car I have ever owned. I was wrong. While the vehicle has many good features, looks good and is kitted out with loads of technology, it is this technology which has really bugged me and in my opinion lets this vehicle down. I read another review stating that the Mazda Cruise Control was an issue, as it slams the brakes on when you get within a certain distance of another vehicle or when another vehicle enters a gap in front of you. Totally true. And ...Read more
for what its worth, the minimum gap this setting keeps you from a vehicle in front is way way too big. So you turn the Mazda Radar Cruise Control off. Solved. No. Mazda turns it back on every time you stop the engine. And it's like this for a number of settings. You can't get what you want ... just what Mazda says you'll have. Headlights as another example. If you make certain light settings you can no longer control your lights from the column switch. You have to go back into the settings menu and find the setting you need to give you control of simple functions such as turning your headlights on and off. And the list goes on. Maybe worst of all, this is an untrustworthy vehicle. Not unreliable ... untrustworthy. I would expect once you make a setting selection, that action would then occur whenever the setting situation arises. Not so. Seems with certain settings this vehicle makes it's own mind up as to what mood it's in and then chooses whether or not to follow the settings instructions. Biggest example is the auto lock of the vehicle when you leave the vehicle. Definitely don't trust this action to be completed. And for further reference, I approached Mazda Australia regarding some of these issues. Was advised a Case Officer had been assigned to look into the issues I raised and would report back to me within 1 week. That was over 3 months ago and cannot get a response from Mazda. So is this a good car ?? Depends on what you are looking for. If you want a car that gives you the ability to select options that you, not the manufacturer, wants and if you want a trustworthy car that does actually follow the instructions you select from the settings and if you want a car that doesn't continually frustrate you by having to go into the extensive settings menu to find a reselect the options you want from your car every time you turn the engine on, then the answer is NO.
Purchased in July 2021.
