First Mazda Brilliant Car
Took a leap of faith purchasing our 2012 Mazda 6 Diesel wagon and i must say after nearly a year we are very very happy with it. I cant recommend this car enough to people. 5 litres per hundred highway cycle and mid to high sixes around town. Great power and torque, very comfortable and easy to drive, not too big or small. Out of the cars we have owned in our life this rates the highest.
Diesel Fuel Economy, Torque, Power, Manual, Great size for family, comfortable, price
Factory tyres are horrible, baby seat bolt point on the roof for the middle back seat

Great family car
It's been 9 months since we purchased the 6 wagon and the experience has been great. The car does not feel like a big wagon (have driven Ford BF wagon and you can feel the difference when turning or parking), the steering is sharp and handling is very comfortable with the 2 kids, double pram, toys, clothes, kids books, football, soccer ball, more toys, baby seat, toddler seat and shopping to fit. From my previous car (Subaru Forester turbo) the fuel economy is great (avg 8.5l/100) and fill up every 10-12 days. There is lots of room at the back ...Read more
for the kids, rearward facing baby seats do not compromise front seating and the toddler can't reach there legs to kick the front seats. I do miss my turbo cars but if you got kids (and your wife wants you to grow out of the turbo phase) and still want a sexy looking and affordable family car, you cant go past this bad boy. Fuel efficient, very roomy, handling, good looksSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

A 4cyl wagon can drive like this?
We bought this new in 2009 as we had outgrown our Subaru Impreza. I was hoping for a Subaru Liberty but my wife preferred the Mazda. I'm glad I listened for once as this car has been so good that I have only one regret. The sparkling black paintwork is a nightmare to maintain.
The grip and handling for a 4cyl family car is unbelievable. The auto works well but motor needs more low to mid range torque. The servicing costs are half of what we were paying and fuel consumption is great compared to the Subaru which wasn't a turbo model.
For a family with 2 children, this car is safe, well made and has all the room we need.
Quality, luggage space
Road noise. Cost of replacement tyres ($1200+ for proper tyres)

Competence, Reliability, Quality.
We bought our car when it was 3 years old, and had already completed over 100,000 kms. We've since owned it for just over a year and have completed another 30,000 kms. The car hasn't missed a beat, and feels very safe and solid. Handles very well with lots of grip. It's my first auto, which I wasn't keen on, but I must say it hasn't bothered me at all. Our fuel economy has averaged 8.9L/100 km over that time, which has been good (though it's premium unleaded). Probably 70% has been city driving, and I also drive it fairly economically. We have ...Read more
two children in child seats and can just manage to squeeze a third person into the back (for short trips only). A set of four quality tyres is over $1000 due to the less common size. My wife says "I'm not a car person at all, but I love this car!". Excellent grip and handling. Reliable. Decent fuel economy. Brakes bite a bit, could be more progressive. Expensive tyres. Cruise control surges sometimes on hills.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great to Drive and loads of features
Have been a Toyota owner for a long time but this is the 2nd Mazda I have bought and absolutely love it. It comes with absolutely all the extras you need and is extremely economical. Drives really well and certainly is not lacking on power. Really glad I decided to buy!
Good quality and great ride.
Boot space a bit small but not a major problem.

Diesel model is a great car to drive.
This was my first new car purchase and my first Mazda.
I am impressed.
This was to replace a previous manual transmission wagon and was looking for a replacement (there are not many options).
The turbo diesel has great power and just pulls up hills with amazing ease. You don't feel like you are driving a diesel.
Had it a year now and am getting 5.9L/100Km - Saving a stack on fuel compared to previous V6 1997 model car.
Great to drive and just and enjoyable car.
Dash position with respect to steering wheel (ie. to have steering wheel and seat at comfortable position then dash is a bit obstructed)

I love this car!
Before the arrival of our baby we moved to a 2 car household, my husband took my Mercedes and I got a stationwagon!! We purchased the Touring wagon and it iis just fantastic, the quality of finish and drive is as good as the Merc. For a big car it doesn't feel bulky, we live in the inner city and it's easy to get around in. Love it!
Feels like a small car but has so much space, great drive quality, high quality interior.

Good
This is a fine car and would suit everyone from singles to larger groups,is easy to drive and park in the shopping centre and equally at home on a longer trip, If you find the ride too harsh replace the tyres with a quality touring tyre like a Toyo Teo and enjoy it even more, highly recommended
Good steering and handling, quality of finish inside and out, good motor and automatic combination, allround driving ease and enjoyment, good economy and value for money
Ride can be over harsh on anything other than perfect roads, I have some doubt about the durability of the seat cloth material, headlights on high beam could be better

I had the same concern regarding the seat cloth but found it is deceptively long and hard wearing.

Mazda6 Diesel! The near perfect all round vehicle
Wow, what a car. Traded in the V8 Calais for this. I can't believe how much grunt a modern diesel engine has. It has superb fuel economy (over 1000km from the 64 litre tank) full soft leather interior, tri-spoke fully functional steering wheel and the most awesome 6 speaker Bose stereo system with woofer. This car is quick, quiet and hugs the road like nothing in its class. Why buy the Mazda2 petrol when the Mazda6 diesel gets better economy? It has more airbags than seats, crumple zones and intrusion bars. So safe for you to put your fam...Read more
ily into. Standard low profile tyres, high gearing for highway work and handling that begs to be driven enthusiastically. Do yourself a favour, test drive one and like me, you'll be sold. Better fuel economy than the Mazda2 petrol. Yes, I'm not lying. Fantastic build quality. Bose sound system. 6 speed manual gearbox.2 comments

Does everything right
Reliable, fun to drive, reasonably frugal, built beautifully. Feels very individual, not like other cars in the same class. The stereo is brilliant like nothing you get in a car standard. Jack for a iPod. The seats, fittings and materials all have a feel of quality.
Reliable, very zippy, neutral handling, everything is where it,s suppose to be, great sound system.
The satnav is not intuitive

Great wagon with loads of classy extras!
We were tossing up whether to buy a Subaru or the 2010 Mazda 6. I though the Subaru was just a little more pricey with only the AWD to add to it's name; with all the safety features on the Mazda 6 it seemed a bit redundant to worry about AWD. The wagon feels more like a sedan to drive not huge and clunky like some wagons.
It's got a HUGE boot and if you get a Touring edition, it has wonderful parking sensors which make it a breeze to nip into parks I wouldn't have dreamed of trying in a smaller car!
The bluetooth phone connection is wonderful...Read more

Excellent
We LOVE our 2009 Mazda 6 Wagon and would HIGHLY recommend it to ANYONE particularly families and people who enjoy travelling on road trips.
We bought the Mazda 6 Wagon to accommodate the arrival of our baby #2. There is ample space in the back, providing plenty of room for the two baby seats. The spacious boot fits the pram and toddler seat with room to spare. It is an absolute dream to drive and has all of the mod-cons as standard inclusions including cruise control, automatic wipers and lights, adjustable steering wheel, 6 stacker CD player a...Read more

Excellent
Given the chance to drive this car at work, I have to say I am indeed impress by the workmanship and quality of the Mazda 6. The car itself handles very well and ride feels very smooth. Also being a hatch back doesn't mean it is small, it felt pretty spacious and had a lot of room front and rear. I wasnt used to the airconditioning as is by clicking of buttons oppose to turning knobs. The warning indications are pretty straight forward and the car is very nice with the new headlights.
Excellent handling and feel for the steering
none, maybe a little pricey compared to other brands.

Mazda 6, nice car, not your average run about.
we intended buying a Mazda 3 but fell in love with "our 6" parked along side. the vehicle is far superior to a 3 and having drove both it was a no brainer ! our car was new but nine months old and with a deal to match. unfortunatley just weeks after purchasing it Mazda increased the waranty to five years ( from three ) and offers three year roadside assistance ( which we never got ). now for just $500 more than the list price of our base model car they offer Leather seats, auto, climate control, parking sensors to name a few. im dissapointed to...Read more
say the least but althought its early days, three months in and only 2700kms we are still happy with the car itself. visually the car is stunning, its well built with no squeaks and rattles. it handles amazingly and is reasonalbly fuel efficent ( geting better every fill ) the illumination around the sound system at nite is totally confusing and frustrating. the lack of a full trip computer on a $30000.00 plus car beggers belief, the price of factory accessories is almost extortion !6 comments
how much are the service costs?
I know its most likely pointless now, I am sorry, I changed email servers. We have our vehicles serviced at Ultratune. Very reasonable and efficient. I was stung with the dealership with the sale, I will never return.
We have now owned the car for two years, it has 28000 km's only. Nothing to report.... It continues to give great service.

Questions & Answers
Peterasked
My Mazda 6 hatch GH, 2010 luxury sports model, (sunroof, leather seats, navigation system etc) passenger side dash has just recently started "melting" after being parked in the sun (Brisbane QLD) for a few hours over several days. This car is garaged every night, when at head office it is parked under shade sails or totally undercover. It has 96000 km on the clock. Not a lot of Kilometers as I have another older Mazda 626 that I use for a lot of other tasks, such as parking at bus stations, etc. Is Mazda Australia replacing these obviously faulty dash's? Mine is under ten years old and in America they accepted the fault and extended the warranty to ten years for the dash. I see the Mazda 3 also has the same problem as well. Seen footage where Current Affairs in New Zealand got involved for a owner who was ignored from the start and the issue was resolved free of charge, after their involvement. I had the previous Mazda 6 Hatch 2006, model GG from new and never had an issue with it. Only sold it last year, 2022. If they are not willing to fix it I doubt I will buy another new Mazda. Will they replace it? It should be done free of charge.
Update, went to Mazda Mt Gravatt (QLD) today (28/01/2020) and they are going to fit a new passenger side dash on Friday (31/01/2020). That is the section of dash that is affected, in three days time at no charge. Excellent response, Zoom, Zoom Mazda.

We have owned a Mazda 6 GG model since new 13 years and had new the previous one for 2 years prior to that. We're considering buying a Mazda 6 GH 2008. Am I going to be as happy with it or are there things I need to be aware of on inspection? Thanks
