I have used Miele products for many years now and am very unhappy about this machine and considering other brands now. Had the service ppl out to respond to a technical fault which I thought would be easily fixed but found out it is not worth the repair and the cost was more than $150 to be told this. I would not expect this from Miele and am very disappointed. A new drive motor is required at total cost of $709 and the guys from Ultimate Appliances (authorised repairers) said that if I were to have the repair, it would likely break down again in 3 months. This is totally unsustainable!

The washer worked perfectly since we bought it brand new from Harvey Norman in 2012. My only complaint was that the door doesn't open unless the power is on. Like others on this review site, we chose the much more expensive Miele washer over Bosch and others because the salesman promised it would last 20+ years. "Built like a tank" he said. Well, 7 and a half years later it has stopped working. I blame myself for believing a Harvey Norman salesman, but still I expected much better from Miele. This has made me reassess my trust in the brand.

We purchased a Miele w5741 on advice from the salesman. The salesman told us we would have 20 years almost trouble free. The machine was purchased in 2012 and is now 8 years old and the main circuit board has packed it in. For the price of the repair $800 and the price of the machine $2200 we could’ve bought 3 machines and still been in front. I’m very disappointed with the cost of the repair within in such a short time of the original purchase.

As far as I remember we bought this machine about 8 years ago. It still works like when it was new.
Usage is probably average with a family of 4.

The good:
- Uses very little water
- good choice of programs

The not so good:
- some programs take a long time

Exactly the same as Daveoo. Our Miele W5741 stopped working mid cycle one week ago and the technician reported a failure of the main printed circuit board. The quote to repair it is $800 to $1000!! We can buy a Bosch washing machine for less than that. We have never had a washing machine fail in 40 years. We also were told that the W5741 would last for 20 years. Very disappointing indeed.

Bought this Machine 6 years ago this June. Stopped working in the middle of a cycle. Rang Technician and he said the Printed Circuit Board has had it. Wife said I like the Machine so decided to fix it $565 later. 2 weeks later Drain Pump stopped working another $180. Very disappointed in this machine. I could of bought a New LG cheaper than these parts.

There seems to be a trend here - I am another very unhappy Miele customer who was told their washing machine would last 20 years. I've just been told I'll have to replace the control board for $520 plus the call out charge. My machine is 6 years old. It came up with "tech info" and would not spin and will not exit the cycle. This is the most expensive washing machine I have bought ($2000) and would never do it again. My previous machine was a 12 years old Simpson top loader and was never a problem. Had to buy a new machine due to moving house. So much for superior German engineering.

Purchased my machine in 2012 expecting it to last up to 20 years like the sales pitch it failed last week after 7 years of use. Technition inspected and advised the control board had failed which is common for this model he said Miele are aware of this ongoing part problem. No parts in the country for 3 weeks, new part incl fitting $750 plus the initial insp fee $132. No offer of any compensation from Miele for a faulty part.
Miele machines are not value for money, initial purchase price $2000.00 and the poor service support, l will not be fixing my machine and would not advise anyone to purchase one.

I have had this washing machine since i purchased it in June 2012. i have a big family and i use it more than once daily, sometimes 4 times. Never had any issue with it. A heavy duty washer that never stops.
it spin up to 1400 rpm. For cotton it is best to use it once a week at 90 degree or 75 degrees Celsius.
the clothes come out very clean and almost dry. doesn't crease the clothes.
I usually stuffed most of the time. very efficient.
love it !!!

I wouldnt recommend a bottom loader Miele washing machine cos of the drum rubber seal. Had this rubber seal replaced twice now within a 5yr period cos of the Moldy Stain all around this rubber. I adhered by keeping door open 24/7 and sometimes the door was closed but this moldy stain shouldnt happen. This is a major flaw with this product.

Bought brand new in 2013 and stopped working after 5 years in 2018. Technical Fault 53 displayed on machine and item no longer works. Very disappointed as we expected much more from the brand Miele. Nowhere near the 20 years frequently used in their advertising. This machine never spun our towels well and we always had to respin. Called customer service to arrange service and quoted 10 day wait plus $179 call out charge & $34 per 15mins after first half hour plus parts. This is NOT customer service Miele. Replaced machine with another Brand. Another lost customer.

This refers to my previous post. I have to say that my wife rang Miele and after a Miele service mechanic came and fitted a new control board, Miele replaced the board under warranty. This has restored my faith in Miele, also demonstrates the persuasive nature of a woman. The machine does run well and the tropics is a hard environment for electronic equipment. Thank you Miele. My favorite feature is the high speed spin - 1600 rpm.

Wouldn't have any other brand, love it! I wish it had delay time though. Excellent quality, no issues so far in the almost 5 years we've had it! Great programs plus temp and spin options. we have it installed with the dryer on too and it really is a great combo

Machine has now broken after 6 years with cost of repair very high - in fact higher than buying a new machine. Given the sale pitch is this machine will last you 20 years I'm annoyed.

After contacting them to get resolution they have told me they have a very low incidence of failure. Well my Mums only lasted 4 too. I'm thinking this is not just bad luck Miele! Technician told me they "don't build them like they used to" and he should know.

Given the money I paid it's all a bit rich!

Operated fine for 6 years but nothing special....some of these outstanding reviews must be from Miele themselves!!

I have had this machine for two and a half years. It is my first front loader & first Miele. It is ruining my clothes. Putting holes in all tshirts... always the same spot & same pattern very strange. Miele came out after 18 months said all good.i think Ive got a dud machine. Have to hand wash most of my clothes. For a $2000 machine I am certainly not happy & it is continually costing me money as I have to replace my clothes often. I would never recommend this machine.
