Thinking of purchasing a new asx and I'm a bit concerned with the longevity of the cvt transmission. How long have these been in use and will the engine/gearbox last anywhere near 200,000kms from new, with good driving and regular servicing?

Have had mine for a year now and no problems at all...and with Mitsubishi now offering 7 years warranty across its range ...any problems mechanically with the vehicle(if any) you would expect to have shown by then and be covered under warranty!!...cheers Andy

Hi, I own a 2022 ASX LS. I am hearing and reading online that there may be a way of activating the auto door lock/unlock feature using the gear selector (eg. in gear = doors lock, in park = doors unlock)
Is this possible ? And if so, how do I go about getting it activated??

Only the drivers side door will unlock if auto lock is on when the car is in park...for safety reasons..As children could open doors into on coming traffic!!...As far as I’m aware of??..I do know how to bypass music turning off when you turn the engine off...This can be done by having music on with engine started in park..Place the car into neutral and turn engine stop button...Then place into Park..music will stay on...hope that can help you out with some “beats”..cheers

Mmmmm, thanks. I’ve been driving Fords, Holdens and Hyundai’s at work for years and years. They’ve all had this option for a long time. I find it strange that a 2022 model car wouldn’t have it available??

As for kids opening into traffic, isn’t that what the child locks are for???

Thanks for answering though

ASX XC Black Edition

My ASX is 2000 kms overdue for the 15000 service. Would this be why I am hearing a very persistant beeping sound every 10 seconds? No warning lights and nothing appears to be wrong with the car.
I have it booked in for a service in 2 days time. (Very hard to get a service booked over the Christmas period which is understandable.) Meanwhile this is driving me crazy!!

Should say something on the centre display on the dash btwn the speedo and rev counter about service due. All alarm signals (door, seat belt etc) are displayed on this info screen.

My 3 month old ASX dash icon to show the cruise control is set on a chosen speed has stopped displaying. It worked from new but does not display now. The other icon to show cruise control is engaged, works fine. Could it be just a fuse?

Don't see why there should be 2x icons for the same feature

Thomas C

No. There is one icon to show the cruise control is turned on & one to show it is set at a chosen speed. This has been a common feature on most factory fitted cruise controls for some time now. It was there when I bought the car new.

Can you change the sound or at least the volume of the 2022 ASX Exceed indicator?

Yes you can, We are on our second ASX and have changed the very quiet indicator sound on both to the optional setting which gives a louder ding dong sound which everyone hears. It can be set using the mode button as per instructions in the manual or ask you dealer to do it for you they should not charge for it, it is not difficult and you can't upset anything.

JonD

I find the louder tone is very irritating. Easy enough to change between the loud and soft settings as mentioned above through the mode button when car is stopped.

My 2015 asx is making a beep sound in the back of the car when I am driving. No lights or warnings on the dash display though?

Speaker for the beeps should be in the front so I don't know why you are hearing it from the back, but the cause should display on the info screen. Will need more info to help.

Hi. You should be able to push the lining /cover back in place. Airbag is connected to sensors which deploy the airbag after registering an impact. Just don't use a hammer.

What km to change timing belt or timing chain?

1 answer
JonD
JonD

ASX has a timing chain. Under normal driving conditions, should not need replacement. If you drive like a maniac, you may need it checked for stretching. I would ask a reputable mechanic to check it after 5yrs or 150000km under normal operation to be safe, but it should last the life of the engine (+250000km)

Hi Jenni M. Read the following from another forum. Haven't tried it so I don't know if it works - no guarantee.
Ozukus wrote:
Put the operation mode in OFF.
Raise and hold the wiper and washer switch to the MIST position for about 3 seconds. The buzzer will sound once and the function will be deactivated.

To activate the function again, raise and hold the wiper and washer switch to the MIST position for about 3 seconds. The buzzer will sound twice and the function will be activated.
Don't pull the washer/wiper stalk. If this works, you may have to do this each time your switch the car off. I'll try it when I get back to my ASX.
